Global coronavirus cases have surpassed 16 million with more than 645,000 deaths worldwide.

The United States recorded more than 1.4 million cases of the virus making it the world’s worst affected country, followed closely by Brazil and India.

Nearly a third of global cases have been declared since July and at least 280,000 new infections were reported on Thursday and Friday, marking the highest daily rise since the outset of the pandemic.

Well yes it is but as it is not based on race sex or age it is legal I guess. The thing is in England the shops are not discriminating at all and are just assuming those without masks have a good reason and are letting them shop, as reported in the link I posted upthread. I hope that approach avoids any confrontations.
< modsnip> It isn't discriminatory in the UK or US.

Just wear a mask if you go in an enclosed public space.

It really isn't that much of a chore.

Ooo I feel massachusetts is inching toward a slippery slope - expected there to be some increases as people are out and about. But still just a really bad feeling

many HSs held their postponed graduation ceremonies this weekend. Looked at a bunch of pictures. I personally wouldn’t have felt safe. Like the outdoor dining with tables all crammed together on sidewalks. Too many hospital visitors. And nobody masked in the barber shops. And youth baseball. Really? Sigh
Parent who attended Quincy High School graduation over the weekend tests positive for coronavirus

I posted about the Cape cod party cluster yesterday? Pop up testing. More at link
Pop-up coronavirus testing site to open in Chatham Monday after cluster of positive cases linked to party
There were at least 10 people, as of last week, who attended the party and are now positive for COVID-19 including one Chatham resident, officials said. Authorities said contact tracing is being conducted.

The Chatham Police Department received no reports or complaints regarding the house party
“The amount of information known to the town on the party is limited other than approximately 30-50 persons were in attendance and not wearing masks according to the VNA,” officials said. “A number of individuals testing positive reportedly work in the restaurant industry and accordingly the Health Division contacted local food service establishments requesting that employees be asked if they attended the party and to closely monitor all workers for symptoms.”

A few local restaurants temporarily closed due to employees testing positive, or employees who are close contacts to positive individuals.

Please just stop with this discrimination nonsense. It isn't discriminatory in the UK or US.

Just wear a mask if you go in an enclosed public space.

Agree. Same here in Canada. I feel for the workers who go to work every day and are confronted by non maskers who are hostile at times. They go home to their Family and just want to stay safe. Seems way too much for some to understand sadly. Clearly some folks have way too much time on their hands.

Lol ... I see that our 'Bunnings Karen' was briefly arrested. As well as her private group leaking her self-videos. And just about the whole country slamming her.

Supermarket Cart The New Normal

Helen Lowman looks at litter a lot. It’s her job. But while walking her dog in Westport, Connecticut, in March, she noticed an alarming trend. First she passed some dirty wipes on the ground. Then there were gloves. And finally a mask. Four months later, she said the litter of personal protective gear has only gotten worse.

Some of these businesses being accused of discrimination should embrace the term, IMO. They are actively discriminating against the Virus in an effort to protect their staff and customers. Imo

I had no idea they were called "Karens" in Oz, too. She was extra irritating, even on the Karen scale.

Yes, an educated Karen is the worst. They think they know what they are talking about - but they can lack common sense, community spirit, and a full understanding of emergency public health rules, as clearly evidenced by this Karen.

And they trust that their private 'friends' are not going to leak their SM content. Silly woman.

It really isn't that much of a chore.

It's not required in shops in Wales.

When this "Karen" thing first started and before I knew what it was about I was amazed at how many women named Karen were in the news :)

Waiting on my first masks to arrive. Still not saying we need them here but I'll have the pack of 50 ready just in case
A friend also ordered a pack after I told them that Chemist Warehouse had them. Before that I've checked since this all began and I always got , only available click and collect, and no store here. Nearest one 45km away.

Image captionThe three initial cases were linked to an outbreak in Wales, health officials said
Twenty-one people have tested positive for coronavirus at a caravan park site in Shropshire, with health experts warning the number will rise.

Testing started when two positive cases were confirmed at Craven Arms last week, linked to an outbreak in Welshpool and a recent local event.

A testing site has now been set up at a nearby business park, Shropshire Council and Public Health England said.

All residents have been told to self-isolate with their families.

To date 41 people at the residential site have been tested.

Contact tracing is being undertaken, and the number of positive cases is expected to increase before infection control measures and social distancing start to take effect, the council said.

One of my clients just bought 600 masks for us all (16 people). Who knows if/when we will ever require them ... but they are being stored at the office just in case.

I think that's wise. I lucked out and had a few boxes of surgical masks because I wear them at the gun range. I'm allergic to gun powder, apparently. It's not bad outdoors, but the indoor range is intolerable without a mask.

Golden Corral might want to tweak their liability insurance a bit.

Here's the thing though, anyone filing a suit alleging they contracted Covid at
Golden Corral, or any restaurant that serves a buffet, would have to prove
they got it there as opposed at any other place-- now if bunch of people
got Covid who ate there on a particular day, they might have more of a chance
to be successful, but let's say somebody files a lawsuit against Golden Corral, but that person also went to a crowded bar or restaurant or spent the day at a crowded
beach-- well they are less likely to have a successful law suit IMO

I was at a beach this week in which social distancing seemed to work. The park managers had put red cones along the water front, in a single line, with probably about 30' between them. You had to set your chairs, towels, etc. at one of the cones. From the cone, you could walk straight to the water, and play or swim in the space directly in front of your cone.

It worked really well. There was no need to walk through anyone else's space. Even little kids could figure it out. When there were no cones left, then no more folks were allowed on the beach. It was a large beach, and not all the cones were filled, so I don't think anyone was turned away.

can the virus travel in water?
maybe that's a stupid question but it's all I think about with people sharing oceans/pools/splash pads

sending you condolences

Some people here already had masks because of the smoke from the bushfires.
