That’s right . And I ~think~ this happened fairly early in the spring- so that Particular testing Issue may not have been known at that time -so therefore multiple tests were done during a brief timeframe.
(I was trying not to pry too much so didn’t press for details)

also Massachusetts-another MOO - test results (not mine) Received by in about seven days (not sure of testing venue state/private/etc)

From what I have read, it depends on where in the state of infectiousness you are. I don't think that I stated that very well, but I cannot think of any other way.

Bilingual mask ambassadors from diverse communities will soon be frequenting businesses across Charlotte and surrounding towns, ensuring residents are following crucial health guidelines to slow the spread of COVD-19. “

What could go wrong?
I have no idea. Tell us what could go wrong.

My daughter and I chose not to attend my future daughter in law's bridal shower last Saturday.
Both of her elderly grandmothers went. One has COPD.
GUESS WHAT?
We found out that my son was exposed to COVID on Tuesday of last week!!! They own a home together and have allowed his finance's mom, her 2nd husband and their 2 children to live with them.
He was told on Monday when he showed up for work to go get tested. He was negative, but it still might be too soon. I don't know.
None of them are taking this serious. I am furious! There were probably about 30 people there. NO MASKS!!!
Why in the world she won't reschedule this wedding, I will never understand.
My son has exactly 8 family members on his side of the family.
My 84 yo dad, my 85 yo MIL who has had a breast and lung cancer reoccurance discovered 2 weeks ago, me (immunedeficiency), my husband, my daughter, my son in law and my granddaughter.
His 20 month old son will be in the wedding.
My granddaughter who will be 23 months old was supposed to be a flower girl, but not now!
None of us will be attending the wedding. It is near Athens Georgia and the numbers are increasing at an alarming rate.
We are the bad guys now- tough. I'm not risking a family members life to attend a wedding during a pandemic that could have been postponed, but wasn't, because unfortunately she is going to have things her way- period.
Cheers!
I find it very selfish and unbecoming.
Am I wrong?
It doesn't matter to me honestly. Hopefully none of us will succumb to this virus, as we have all been socially isolating since March!
Moo

I’m in the same boat, but it’s my youngest daughters wedding, in SC, Oct 3.
And her Dad, my ex, is giving her earfuls of advice. He’s an anti mask, “hoax” kind. o_O
Great times!!!

That sounds great to me. What's the problem?

Alyssa Milano had 3 COVID-19 tests that were negative. However, she felt like hell and ended up testing positive for antibodies.

So the folks who claim the numbers are inflated - well, guess what? The testing is not even catching all of the positives.

Alyssa Milano Tests Positive for COVID-19 Antibodies After 3 Negative Results: 'I Thought I Was Dying'
Testing positive for COVID-19 antibodies indicates that a person has been exposed to the novel coronavirus. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has warned that the antibody tests currently available may not be accurate and should not be used to determine if someone is immune to COVID-19.

If antibody tests are not reliable and tests for an active infection are also unreliable what are we supposed to learn from this?

Oh, no...catching up and it seems there has been critical information which has been wrongly spoken with regard to children being “almost immune”. :( Dr. Fauci, Dr. Gupta, Dr. Aileen Marty speak on the subject here. It seems Facebook had to remove the information, as it’s not only clearly wrong, it’s obviously dangerous:

If We All Get COVID Anyway, Should We Just Get It Over With?

This is an interesting video that explains why delaying getting Covid by using all methods available is the best decision and how gaining herd immunity is not an assured victory over the virus.

This is why it's vitally important to get out a consistent public message, which is based only on factual, scientific consensus. I say consensus because conclusions can change when more data is obtained over time. The CDC should have been in charge of a centralized communications plan from the start, with all other officials following THEIR lead. JMO.

Are you talking about the Alyssa Milano article? Because that does send out some mixed messages from a very influential person. JMO

I don't think the video is "rubbish". What part of it do you find is wrong?

I haven't watched the video and I'm not Clair Louise, but I haven't seen anything to suggest that once a person has had COVID-19, that they are immune from getting it again.

The very concept "let's get it and get it over with" seems to assume such a thing, but I don't believe we know that yet.

Would we say that about pneumonia? "Just go ahead and get it now while you're young and strong?" No, because we all know getting it now doesn't mean not getting it again. And again.

Also, the possible long-term heart/lung/neurological effects that are being researched makes this idea a nonstarter IMO. Would we say "let's just get it and get it over with" about polio?

The title of the video is a question not a statement. In the video the doctor talks about how "just getting over with it" is not an answer.

It would be nice if people would take the time to read and understand my post and the video before calling it "rubbish".

Yep, I actually watched the vid and that's what it says.

Eight COVID-19 patients died in a fire that broke out in the intensive care ward of a private hospital in India's western city of Ahmedabad early on Thursday, officials said as they launched a probe into the incident.

Police stopped angry relatives from entering the Shrey Hospital in the Gujarat state capital after the tragedy which, according to emergency services, was caused by a medical staff member's personal protective equipment (PPE) catching alight.

"Five men and three women, who were undergoing treatment for the novel coronavirus were not in a position to escape... they died due to smoke and heat caused by the fire," he said.

Ministers from a trans-Pacific trade bloc have agreed to fight protectionism and avoid food and medicine shortages during the coronavirus pandemic, they said in a joint statement.

The 11-member Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), comprises Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.

"We are committed to ensuring that supply chains remain open and connected...which plays an instrumental role in avoiding food shortages and ensuring global food security," the statement said.

The members also pledged to "facilitate the flow of essential goods and services during the pandemic, including medical supplies and equipment."

NSW has hit the 'red zone' of coronavirus cases after passing number

NSW has hit the 'red zone' of coronavirus cases after passing number

Daniel Piotrowski for Daily Mail Australia

New South Wales is already deep in the 'red zone' where COVID-19 is hard to control despite reporting a little more than a handful of infections each day, experts warn.

Every day, the Premier of Australia's biggest state, Gladys Berejiklian, warns NSW is on a 'knife edge' despite a seemingly small number of daily cases.

The state has reported just 12 or 13 cases each day this week and is far outpaced by Victoria's stunning triple-digit outbreak. The southern state recorded 725 cases yesterday and 471 new cases today.

But a World Health Organisation infection control adviser said NSW is already in 'difficult to control' territory, claiming it passed a magic number some time ago.
In a piece for The Conversation, the University of New South Wales's Professor Mary-Louise McLaws wrote: 'My analysis of the data suggests when cases reach 100 over 14 days - the 'red zone' - then an outbreak becomes very difficult to control.

'This happened in Victoria on June 18, before cases skyrocketed and a second lockdown was called for July 8.'
New South Wales has reported about 188 cases in total over the past fortnight according to Health department news releases.

That places the state squarely in Professor McLaw's 'red zone', despite the number of daily cases trending down in recent days.

To move to safer ground the state would need to report an average of just seven cases a day for two weeks.

Disease specialist Professor Tony Blakely warned if the virus was shed by a superspreader, NSW's outbreak has 'got potential to explode in the same way Melbourne did'.

Prof Blakely said there was uncertainty about the number of COVID superspreaders but estimated them at about one in 10 of those infected.

I was just thinking I might get one of these. Some people on another forum I'm on use them and a friend has one.
I wonder if they do really work though. I guess even if it makes us feel safer it's something, even if it's a placebo.

And maybe I would do just as well by wishing the evil virus away.

Hundreds of types of face masks withdrawn from sale in Australia amid safety fears

Hundreds of types of face masks withdrawn from sale in Australia amid safety fears

Melissa Davey

Hundreds of different types of face masks have been withdrawn from Australia’s register of therapeutic goods and the regulator has started a mass audit of the equipment amid concerns that some may not adequately prevent infection.
Surgical or examination masks intended to reduce or prevent the transmission of disease are considered medical devices, are regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration and must be included in the register of therapeutic goods before they can be supplied.
As of Thursday, 286 types of mask had been removed from the register as part of a post-market review triggered by concerns that many masks do not meet regulatory standards and, if used in medical environments, may increase disease spread.

Among the masks recalled by the TGA were single-use surgical masks

supplied by Jet Express Group. The TGA found the “single use surgical masks have not provided sufficient evidence to show compliance … Continued use of these particular surgical masks may increase the risk of spreading infections (including Covid-19) between individuals.”

Covid outbreak exposes dire conditions at Guatemala factory making US brands

Covid outbreak exposes dire conditions at Guatemala factory making US brands

Tansy Hoskins and Juan Mayorga

...
A garment factory supplying Gap, American Eagle and Amazon was at the centre of one of the worst Covid-19 outbreaks in Guatemala, the Guardian can reveal.

More than 200 people tested positive for Covid-19 at the KP Textil factory, exposing the dire working conditions inside the country’s maquila system of free trade zones. At the time of the outbreak, the factory was making masks for export to the US.

Human rights activists said that KP Textil, on the outskirts of Guatemala City, lacked adequate health and safety measures to prevent an outbreak, despite the management saying it had closed the factory on 12 May after the first case of Covid-19 was detected.

The following day, the factory denied full entry to inspectors from the health ministry and the Guatemalan Social Security Institute (IGGS) on the grounds that the premises were private property and that testing would interfere with production.
When an inspection went ahead on 14 May, 26 out of a sample of 32 workers tested positive for Covid-19. The local mayor, supported by the municipal court of San Miguel Petapa, shut the factory down indefinitely and declared a state of emergency in the municipality.

Nearly half of inmates at Arizona prison test positive for virus

AFP

...
More than 500 inmates -- nearly half the population -- of a prison in the US state of Arizona have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, officials said, while at a California prison the virus death toll hit 22.

The Arizona Department of Corrections said Tuesday that 517 inmates at the ASPC-Tucson Whetstone prison "have tested positive for COVID-19."

Those inmates "are currently being housed as a cohort together in separate areas and are receiving appropriate medical care. They will not be allowed back into the general population until they have been medically cleared," its statement read.

The coronavirus has severely afflicted US jails and penitentiaries, home to the world's biggest prison population, which comprises 2.3 million inmates.

Officials are unable to force adequate distancing in crowded cells and face shortages of medical personnel and personal protective gear.

Could we cure Corona

In the quest to find life-saving COVID-19 treatments, scientists are trying everything from using the blood of coronavirus survivors to recycling old HIV drugs. What’s working — and how?

Damian, a general manager from the NSW Central Coast, didn’t imagine then that he would become part of the quest to outwit the coronavirus.

After fighting off the virus, Damian has become a corona “super-donor”.

The blood plasma extracted from his arm is now being injected into sick coronavirus patients as part of a clinical trial.

Outwitting the virus — the treatments that just might do it

Rt COVID-19

20 states now below R0. Seems to be improving slowly.

Az and Ca seem to have really improved being 2 of the 3 states with the lowest R0.
Missouri and Hawaii are the worst at present.
