If trying to figure the death count in this article.

Is this saying that 100 people died in the first six months of 2020 after taking hydroxychloroquine compared to 75 deaths in the first six months of 2019?

More than 100 Americans have died after taking hydroxychloroquine for COVID-19 | Daily Mail Online

It also says "More than half of the (293) people who died after taking the drug were taking it for COVID-19 "

So, to me, that would mean 150 people dying in the first half of 2020. 75 people dying in the first half of 2019.
Double 2019's figure dying in 2020.

Incidentally, 400,000 Americans Died during the entire World War 2.

We're going to exceed that in terms of Covid-19 Deaths in less than 1 year.

And, unfortunately, the US is experiencing more deaths-per-day than it did in any war.
Currently over double the amount of deaths-per-day than it did during its worst time of war deaths (the Civil War).

COVID-19 is bad, but it isn't the worst thing to hit this country, nor will it remain one of the worst. More will happen, worse will happen, and we may never get back to 'life the way it was.'
Everyone needs to try to make positive change happen, not just dwell on it and complain.

One thing I hope most people recognize, it didn't take one bomb, any military intervention, to bring the United States to the edge. All it took was one helluva 'virus' and look what it has done, and it isn't done yet.

Sorry, South Aussie, I just saw your post so I added it on here. I see you already have the Wikipedia link up here. Thank you.

I interpreted it as 293 people taking hcq have died this year. Of those:

149 (51% is more than half as no figure is given) were taking it for Covid.

144 died without Covid as compared to 75 last year.

There is no mention in the article of how advanced the virus was, comorbidities, nada. Who knows.

Infected nurse’s message to Melbourne residents

The video has been shared almost 5000 times on Facebook at time of writing.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital said of the video: “He (Daniel) is sharing his story as he wants this to be over. He wants to let families in to see their loved ones.

“He has had to hold the hands of patients dying of COVID-19, because he didn‘t want them to die alone. He doesn’t want to do that anymore.

“You are the best line of defence. We can do this, but we need your help.”

I didn't think about people being near death and taking hydroxychloroquine as a last resort. Thanks.

Yesterday, my state isolated 1,100 local people - and hotel quarantined 70 students - due to a cluster at Thebarton Senior College, caused by one infected 20 year-old going to school.

“We are not leaving any stone unturned.... because as people know we have really enjoyed a fantastic lifestyle here in SA with our lifting of restrictions,” she (CHO Professor Nicola Spurrier) told FIVEaa radio on Friday.

“Even just one case in the wrong place can get out of control very quickly.

“This is safest, not only for the young people who may develop symptoms, it means we can monitor them very closely every day, but also for their families as well.”

Not sure that they were near death but taking advice from non medical people.

Very depressing - Covid-19 may influence life permanently. Our life spans will change. It may be like the Black Death or Justinian's Plague, affecting humans for many years. We can only hope for effective vaccines and treatments....
Back in February when I started talking about the virus at our house, my husband said, "Huh, this might be what kills us all." I thought, nah. Surely not?

Sounds as though they were deemed as being misguided ..... when reading the full article it may be that the doctors were misguided or the deceased people were.

Misguided doctors is a scary thought.

That's why I find 'America's Frontline Doctors' so scary - trying to spread disinformation to the masses.
There are always less-informed people who will try any 'preventative' or 'cure', with potentially dire effects.

More than 100 Americans died from taking Hydroxycholoroquine---- there are studies to back this up.

From your link:

Between January and June of 2020, there were 6,588 adverse events related to the drug reported to the FDA, and 6,223 of them 'serious' meaning they could left the epson hospitalized, disabled or dead.

That was about twice as many total adverse events as were reported in conjunction with the drug in 2019, and nearly three times as many 'serious' adverse events.

In recent weeks, three of the most prominent members of Trump's own task force - Dr Deborah Birx, Dr Anthony Fauci and Admiral Brett Giroir - have warned against the use of hydroxychloroquine to treat coronavirus.

New CDC report: Children still at risk of severe COVID-19 symptoms.

Hospitalization Rates and Characteristics of Children Aged 18 Years Hospitalized with Laboratory-Confirmed COVID-19 — COVID-NET, 14 States, March 1–July 25, 2020 | MMWR

Analysis of pediatric COVID-19 hospitalization data from 14 states found that although the cumulative rate of COVID-19–associated hospitalization among children (8.0 per 100,000 population) is low compared with that in adults (164.5), one in three hospitalized children was admitted to an intensive care unit.

Is there no free to air tv in the US ?

We have free TV channels in Australia, including the national broadcaster ABC.

The ABC used to have a lot of programmes for schools.

Doesn't use cable, just a tv antenna on your roof, or one small box one inside but reception from those can be patchy.
There used to be the ones they called rabbit ears.

It's a free service.

Um...we don't all have access. In Los Angeles, many people do not have cable and just watch their favorite shows (often in Spanish) on youtube - or they have only that one package (Spanish language TV or Korean language TV)

Yes there is. It's called over the air TV.

This is our DTV (or ATSC) antenna chart mapping out all 1,812 DTV broadcast antennas. Approximately 90% of the United States population is within range of at least one DTV Antenna that provides free television! There is absolutely no reason why you cannot get rid of cable today!

U.S. pandemic worse than Mexico, Lopez Obrador says after travel warning

U.S. pandemic worse than Mexico, Lopez Obrador says after travel warning

MONTERREY, Mexico (Reuters) - Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Friday the United States had greater problems from the coronavirus than his country, a day after the U.S. State Department urged citizens not to travel south of the border, citing high contagion rates.
"We have many fewer problems with the pandemic than the problems that, unfortunately, they are facing," Lopez Obrador said during a Friday morning press conference.

"Our situation is better," he said.

The United States on Thursday lifted a global health advisory imposed in March that advised U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel because of the coronavirus pandemic.
But the stringent Level 4 advisory, usually reserved for countries at war, remained in place for Mexico, with U.S. ambassador to Mexico Christopher Landau citing the spread of COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the virus.

Several other countries remain on Level 4.

Lopez Obrador also criticized media outlets for focusing on the country's ranking as third place globally for overall COVID-19 deaths, rather than deaths per capita.

By the second measure, which allows a comparison of deaths accounting for a country's population, Mexico is in 13th place globally, according to data analysis by Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.

In Mexico, 40 people per every 100,000 have died from COVID-19 - a lower number than the United States, which is at 49 deaths per 100,000 - according to Johns Hopkins.

It also has fewer per capita deaths than Latin American peers Chile, Peru, Brazil and several European nations.
However, more in Mexico have died than in Russia, Japan and Bangladesh, which have similar populations.

Total deaths in Mexico surpassed 50,000 on Thursday, behind only the United States, which has 160,000 deaths, and Brazil, which is approaching 100,000.
