Speaking of Starbucks...this happened in a Starbucks in South Korea:

Starbucks Cafe’s Covid Outbreak Spared Employees Who Wore Masks

After a woman with the coronavirus visited a Starbucks cafe north of Seoul this month, more than two dozen patrons tested positive days later. But the four face mask-wearing employees escaped infection.
The Aug. 8 outbreak in the South Korean city of Paju is another example of how rapidly the SARS-CoV-2 virus can spread in confined, indoor spaces -- as well as ways to minimize transmission. With health authorities around the world still debating the evidence around face masks, the 27-person cluster linked to the air-conditioned coffee outlet adds more support for their mandatory use to help limit the spread of the Covid-19-causing virus.

Officials assume patrons were not wearing masks the whole time they were sitting inside the store, due to drinking and eating.
So, it seems the a/c spread the aerosol particles around the interior of the store.

I don't mean necessarily knowing exactly how many years one has left. The older one gets, every year makes up a larger percentage of the time left. If an effective vaccine or therapeutic doesn't show up this year, I would expect more people, who have currently been living in relative isolation, to reevaluate. If they do, they would probably like options. It would be pretty bitter to decide "on March 15, 2021, I am leaving the house and going to XYZ," only to have everything locked down on the 14th.

The news is constantly changing.

'Nonsense': Boris Johnson rubbishes claim he is planning to QUIT as PM in six months | Daily Mail Online

Article has PM strongly denying the claim he is quitting in 6 months.

That's the fun of it. Always changing. Interesting that it was a friend's family member who apparently started this rumor, as I understand it. If it's a rumor. Obviously, it's not a great look for Boris if he exits right as no-deal Brexit goes down PLUS CoVid.

I feel badly for him if he's not well, though. A lot of people don't get over CoVid quickly - in fact, many moderately ill people are still not recovered after 3-4 months (Boris was hospitalized, it sounded serious). He's got a lot going on.

Gov. Brian Kemp’s office said Monday that the state Department of Public Health has received reports that people are using diluted chlorine dioxide to “treat” COVID-19.

“Chlorine dioxide is a bleach-like cleaning agent and, if ingested, can have severe, adverse health effects, including death,” Kemp’s office said in a press release.

Chlorine dioxide products have not been shown to be safe and effective for any use. The governor’s office said products are being marketed under various names: Aqueous Chlorine Dioxide, CDS, Master Mineral Solution, Miracle Mineral Solution, MSS, Water Purification Solution and others.

Health officials said taking chlorine dioxide products can lead to respiratory failure, fatal abnormal heart rhythms, life-threatening low blood pressure, liver failure, low blood cell counts, and severe vomiting and diarrhea.

Officials say some Georgians treat COVID with bleach-like cleaner

Apparently almost 50 people in the northern part of the Lone Star state drank bleach in the last month. Public health authorities are telling them to stop.

Yes, people might react that way.

I, and many people I know, had plans to travel this year and over the winter. I don't expect to see my friend for years, since he's in the US and I'm in Canada. We're in our 60's, no spring chickens.

But I'm not bitter, it's not the government's fault there's a worldwide pandemic. They're shutting the border to keep people safe, not to mess up my plans. We're all in the same boat here, sacrificing non-essential frivolities for the sake of everyone's health.

Is there any talk of setting up more polling booths so fewer people have to use the same location?
I can't say for sure, but all I've read is going the opposite direction. In part, because many of the usual poll workers during U.S. elections tend to be retired, and older, so high risk. Many don't want to do it this year. MOO

I'm older. I would gladly forego sitting in a bar or restaurant in favor of sitting in the backyard with my grandchildren and I don't mind giving up my other social fun in order to do so. Just because one is older, there is no single view on this issue. I would consider lockdown a small price to pay to save others, but obviously some will disagree. MOO

Really tired of hearing all of this, which has now become meaningless.
We'll have a vaccine by election day.
We'll have a vaccine by the end of 2020.
A vaccine by early next year.
Whoops. No. COVID-19 will be around until 2022.
Wait. No. It will probably be with us forever.

Numbers are going down.
Numbers are rising in the Midwest and rural areas.

Schools will open.
Schools will not open.
Schools that have opened are now online.
Colleges are spreading the virus.

The US doesn't allow large gatherings.
The US does allow large gatherings.

Wear a mask.
This state is not mandating wearing a mask.
This business says you must wear a mask but will not enforce it.

UGH. I'm done with my rant.

For as long as covid-19 is around, My preference is to get an absentee ballot, and take it personally to a drop off box that they have set up at libraries etc. That way I ensure my vote gets counted and not lost in the mail nor do I have to stand in line and I can do it many many days before the election.

Good question. Plus how many relatives and friends will even let them? Besides the hurricanes, there's hundreds of thousands evacuated in California due to the fires.

The pandemic shouldn't change who you are, and what your core values are. If a person has core values about helping friends and family in need, they wouldn't think twice about it. We can't let fear rule our lives and every single action.
