Who will be running our country? Certainly T will not be physically able (quarantine) to meet with notables. Will Pence step in?

  • If Trump becomes too ill to lead the country, vice president Mike Pence will be placed in charge. If Pence is also incapacitated, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would be the most likely person to take over.

  • Pence attended a White House coronavirus task force briefing with Trump on Monday. Pence did not attend the presidential debate.

What we don’t know:
How long Trump, Melania and Hicks have had the virus for and exactly which White House staff she has had close contact with. According to the World Health Organization, it takes five or six days on average from when someone is infected until symptoms show, but it can take 14 days. It appears Hicks began to feel ill on Wednesday.

Everyone in the administration is being pumped full of IV antivirals and zinc right now. That’s my bet. They won’t become symptomatic as a result.

And those who think this crisis is “exaggerated” will think that proves their point.

In the meantime, those of us who aren’t part of the elite? We test positive and they tell us to go home. We don’t get treatment until we can’t breathe. And for some at that point, it’s too late.
BBM Do you think the administration knows the cure for Covid and is keeping it under wraps?

Age, weight and diet.

But he will be fine, is my bet. They use AIDS drugs successfully on people who have already become dangerously symptomatic. As far as we know no one in his circle but Hicks showed any symptoms. They give babies antivirals when the mother is positive and the babies aren’t born with AIDS. I believe if they pump them full of that medication now, before they show symptoms, they probably won’t.

That’s great for them. But the problem is the administration won’t explain this to the public and people will use his health status as a means to continue downplaying this virus.

Yet, anyone who is not filthy rich doesn’t have access to that kind of aggressive, preventative treatment.
He's the POTUS. Of course he's going to get the most aggressive, preventative treatment available---as would the leader of any other country. Why would anyone expect anything less.

Everyone should be hoping and praying for a full recovery for him and Melania.

I think doctors will be giving them remdesivir right now ... if that is a safe thing to do while asymptomatic.

This probably will turn out to not be a huge concern. I am sometimes amazed that the Queen just lives on and on - but she has the best doctors taking care of her every need, so the world does not even hear of any medical issues (of which there must be a few, at her age, I would think).

IMO

I agree, this will not be such a big deal.

Long live the Queen!

Do you have links for this? I have not heard of only the elite getting treatment, I would guess those working on the front line to help Covid patients would also disagree.

I have not heard of patients refused treatment until they can’t breathe either. I know NY for example has an excess of ventilators.

A quick snap from Reuters that British pharmaceutical AstraZeneca has said clinical trials of its experimental Covid vaccine have resumed in Japan. It added that it remains in talks with regulators on the data needed to restart trials in the US, where they remain halted.

Russia has reported 9,412 new coronavirus cases, which is its highest daily tally since 23 May, pushing the national total to 1,194,643.

What kind of treatment should people get if they test positive and aren't symptomatic?

I'm not sure if you are in the minority. For me. It is torture. I do it. But hate, absolutely hate wearing a mask.
Seeing everyone else masked up makes me furious and depressed.
I can still hardly believe that this nightmare is real.
My friends husband died last night (not from Covid). They told her to not touch him. She rebelled and held his hand anyway. They were married for 53 years.
This virus is a curse. I hate all of it. Including masks and whats happening to our businesses.

2020 has been a year from hell. My friend's grandmother died in the nursing home (not from covid) recently, but her last months were horrible because they would not let her family visit. They were allowed to sit outside a window (closed window) and try to yell through once a week. The grandmother could not hear and would just cry. It was torturous. She died without having seen or hugged her loved ones for so long.

We have to start putting people's mental health in perspective as well. Some of the things that are happening are just awful.

Oh no. Praying for POTUS and FLOTUS. Could Biden and the moderator from the debate have caught it too? At least most at the rally the other night had masks on but there were no masks or plexiglass at the debate. I guess we will find out at some point. This should help to determine if 6 feet social distancing works.

It sort of brings it home that there is no cure or certainly the leader of the free world would have known about it. I am surprised that they have not had the vaccine actually, although the final trials have not completed.

CoVid disproportionately affects the poor. This is a well established fact.

From what I am seeing there is a measure of concern about Pence. He did not attend the debate on Tuesday, and has tweeted his good wishes to the president.

But if Pence falls sick as well – it is unclear whether his Covid-19 status is known ....
Donald Trump Positive Test Covid-19 Surprise

Biden's entourage all wore masks at the debate. I would imagine their own health was not compromised at the debate.

I always enjoy seeing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi match her mask to her outfit. :) I’ve got to get busy and get more than my two “summer” masks.
I've still yet to see that TBH.
;)

We probably see more of her than you do in Wales. I’ve never seen her not match, except early on when she may have worn black (can’t remember). She quickly got her masks up to speed. :D I think she has maybe six that work with whatever she wears on a given day...red, blue, pink, etc. I love color so I notice these details.
