Chris Wallace expressed relief Friday that Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden did not shake hands before Tuesday's debate.

"The debate commission had decided there would be no opening handshake, and thank God for that. They were about eight feet apart from each other at their podiums," Wallace said.

Wallace, who moderated the debate in Cleveland, said he "never got any closer to [Trump] than what you saw on TV".

Still, that was “close enough that I'm gonna get a test,” Wallace added.

Who will be running our country? Certainly T will not be physically able (quarantine) to meet with notables. Will Pence step in?

When Justin Trudeau went into quarantine after his wife tested positive, he ran his country from home. So I imagine the same thing will happen here while the President is in quarantine.

Why you should wait 5 days to be tested for COVID-19 after a possible exposure
More
BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Health officials on Monday said anyone who has a possible exposure to COVID-19 should wait at least five days before going to get a test for the virus. News 3′s Rusty Surette asked Dr. Seth Sullivan to clarify this during Monday’s news conference.

“When we get tested matters and that should be about five days and no sooner than that,” said Dr. Sullivan. “If I’m exposed to somebody right now and then twelve hours later I go and get the test, it makes sense that I have not yet had time for the virus to do what it’s going to do inside my body to start replicating and then be positive on these tests.”

He's the POTUS. Of course he's going to get the most aggressive, preventative treatment available---as would the leader of any other country. Why would anyone expect anything less.

Everyone should be hoping and praying for a full recovery for him and Melania.

Definitely hoping and praying for a full recovery for our President and our First Lady.
I watched the President's interview on Hannity last night, and the President sounded well, but tired. I hope he gets a lot of rest, even if only mild symptoms.

I just want to remind posters that we were told the PM was ok and next thing we knew he was in ICU on oxygen so things can change really quickly with Covid. He took a long time convalescing too. I don't want to be negative but they may not report the President's true health status over the next few days.

Last week our Niece was exposed at work. She self isolated as well as her Parents since she had been to their house. They thankfully tested negative. So here in Ont. Canada they all were required to self isolate and be tested. How else do you get a handle on this. IMO
Unfortunately you don’t. :(

When you have people that have tested positive but purposely go out to infect people? JMO

Yes, he did. He was caring for the children, for his wife who was in isolation in another part of the home, and running the country that was just seeing the beginning of the pandemic, all without any household staff. Daily addresses to the nation were from a podium set up at the end of his sidewalk, where he stood alone.

2020 has been a year from hell. My friend's grandmother died in the nursing home (not from covid) recently, but her last months were horrible because they would not let her family visit. They were allowed to sit outside a window (closed window) and try to yell through once a week. The grandmother could not hear and would just cry. It was torturous. She died without having seen or hugged her loved ones for so long.

We have to start putting people's mental health in perspective as well. Some of the things that are happening are just awful.

same thing happened to my family

I very much doubt that the military and law enforcement have been doing any hugging and kissing with the president.

He was referring to his adviser, Ms. Hope Hicks, who he said is a very warm person, and it's hard for her to tell the military to move away when they approach her at events.

I agree, I was following that and it seemed to me it was all about keeping up appearances that Boris Johnson's case was no big deal, until he actually faced death and then the decision was made to make the seriousness of it public. IMO, Trump and his team have even more reason to downplay this, being so close to the election.

As you mention, the other thing about Johnson is, he was unable to work for a long period afterwards.

IMO, Trump has probably been running himself into the ground in terms of stress and lack of self-care because of the election. I hope he has a strong immune system in spite of that.

Another comment, to anyone who implies that the disease isn't important because it only impacts older people: well, it's older people who run the world!

Wow. More in quarantine...
Dr. Anthony Fauci, an infectious disease expert and a member of the White House coronavirus task force, announced Saturday that he will begin a “modified quarantine..."
Two other coronavirus task force members – Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and Stephen Hahn, commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration – said they also will self-quarantine...
Adm. Michael Gilday, chief of Naval Operations, had contact with a family member who has tested positive for coronavirus, a Defense Department spokesman said. Gilday tested negative but will be quaranting this week, the spokesman said.
...three members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force entered quarantine after being close to someone diagnosed with the disease.
Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. Alexander's office said late Sunday that a member of his staff tested positive for the coronavirus on Sunday and that, out of an abundance of caution, the senator will self-quarantine in Tennessee for 14 days.

Did anyone wonder even for just a second, if T's covid diagnosis came at a convenient time to step away, lay low?

I read it as whether they just quarantine for the specified time or whether they tested positive. I think it's just whatever spin we want to read in. JMO

Exactly.

President Trump showing minor symptoms after testing positive for COVID-19: report

Trump was showing minor, cold-like symptoms.

At a fund-raiser he attended at his golf club at Bedminster, N.J., on Thursday, where one attendee said the president came in contact with about 100 people, he seemed lethargic.

A person briefed on the matter said that Trump fell asleep at one point on Air Force One on the way back from a rally in Minnesota on Wednesday night.

2020 Election Live Updates: What Trump’s Positive Coronavirus Test Means for the Race

Trump’s daughter Ivanka, his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and his son, Barron, all also tested negative, the White House said.

Pence, who has been campaigning separately from the president on Air Force Two, was last with him on Tuesday morning in Washington. It was not immediately clear whether Pence would keep up his travel schedule while the president quarantined.

Glad to hear that Ivanka and Jared and Barron tested negative. And Vice President Pence and his wife.
