Wow. This is going to be an extensive trace.

Early on with this pandemic, I wanted to try to see if i could be a contact tracer, and I remember seeing the very comprehensive job descriptions that the State of NJ established. So I feel confident that Somerset County will do a good job of tracking the local service workers who were there.

But why is WH Admin taking over tracing of the high paying ($250,000) doners?? Probably to give them privacy and exclusivity. But do we really believe they will play ball? i dunno....

I think the "T might return to the WH Monday" mantra may be something like the "we will have our vaccines in October" mantra.

Video in the article of super spreader event shows extreme carelessness in my opinion. There was a lot of hugging, handshaking and leaning into others. Flat out irresponsible in my opinion. How many will become sick in the coming week due to this as those that attended then unknowingly spread it further?

I'm not sure we will ever really know where it started.

Just look how careful the NFL has been yet more, and more are contracting the virus.

You can do this LadyL, you have the tools. If you need to chat you know where to find me. We also live not far from each other. One day you and I will have a coffee together and look back on all this. Hugs.

wow... wish I could join. LadyL...please accept virtual hugs...

Well said, and agree. It is not a doctor's job to make sure we are smiling. To me, it is grossly unprofessional.

I am starting to think that the REAL doctors would not go do the happy-go-round,. so they sent a group of spin doctors with one spokesperson.

Very true. I used to work with a bunch of doctors. If anyone had to present to the Chief of Staff, they always sent a med student.
1. They didn't want to leave their office.
2. They didn't want to be nailed on anything.

The med student picked, was usually puffed up like a toad, thinking it was such a great honor.

Concerning an exponential rise in UK cases.

Rt goes to about 1.4-1.5 with a daily increase of about 5-10% in the Rt (that Rt is from Friday - it's Sunday, so some sources are saying current Rt rate is over 2. The graph of numbers reflects that it has gone over 2 (exponential).

The R number and growth rate in the UK

The map below is from last week (ended Friday, I believe), so does not include the past 2 days. Hopefully, the graph above is due to the "glitch" (about which little is known) but you can see that even before that, UK had quickly reached a level of new cases higher than that in May.

Covid cases and deaths today: coronavirus UK map

Sunday papers are often slow to update on science/health news, but there are certainly places to read about this. I am not familiar enough with UK journalism to know which MSM are reliable, but the BBC appears to have an explanation (not for the Rt which is studied entirely different to merely tallying cases).

Somehow, UK apparently missed out on reporting over 13,000 cases of CoVid and 49 deaths in September. I'm not sure I understand the reasons, exactly, or whether they know they've fixed the problem (the map linked above was from before this "glitch" was fixed).

Here's an article based on the pre-glitch (unfixed numbers) on which the Rt is based (some say the Rt will have to go higher after the glitch has been fixed - Rt is typically not based on the last 24-48 hours):

Coronavirus: Why are rates rising in some areas of England and not others?

As you can see, there's good research and analysis going on as to why this is happening, but we're seeing something similar in places like Montana and Utah. When CV first comes to an area, it often spreads rapidly and without restraint, and then pops into view as it reaches more vulnerable populations.

NYC Businesses, Schools to Close Wednesday in 9 Zip Codes If Approved By State

  • NYC asked for state approval to shutdown all non-essential businesses and schools in 9 zip codes with COVID-19 cases above 3% for 7 consecutive days
  • If approved, the rollback of previous reopening steps taken by the city would begin Wednesday, giving schools and business owners less than three days to prepare
  • Indoor dining and gyms in 11 other zip codes under close watch would also close, Mayor de Blasio said Sunday
We need our large cities to recover and thrive again. This article is just so painful to read......
Thanks for posting tho!

But it's not just what is allowed, do you and your friends want to potentially spread the virus amongst yourselves, wouldn't you all feel pretty crappy (in addition to being sick) if that happened?

Something to get us through these times...

Author: Elena Mikhalkova, Russian author, poet

My grandmother once gave me a tip:
In difficult times, you move forward in small steps.
Do what you have to do, but little by little.
Don't think about the future, or what may happen tomorrow.
Wash the dishes.
Remove the dust.
Write a letter.
Make a soup.
You see?
You are advancing step by step.
Take a step and stop.
Rest a little.
Praise yourself.
Take another step.
Then another.
You won't notice, but your steps will grow more and more.
And the time will come when you can think about the future without crying.

thanks for this
made me wanna cry

DOH &@SomersetCntyNJ Dept. of Health have received information from the management of Trump Nat’l Golf Course in Bedminster, NJ & the White House. The White House supplied to NJ officials the names of at least 206 individuals who attended the events...
DOH has reached out to these individuals to make them aware of possible exposure and recommend that they self-monitor for symptoms and quarantine if they were in close contact with the President and his staff...
Attendees that are seeking a test should consider waiting at least 5-7 days from the event. While the risk is low, a negative test earlier than that time cannot definitively rule out that COVID-19 will not develop. Those who are concerned that they were in close contact should quarantine for 14 days. New Jersey officials have been informed that the federal government is also conducting contact tracing.

it's not my friends
it's 20+ family members
all my Mom's kids and their partners & kids
my Mom and one of my brothers are dying right now and we know this will be the last Thanksgiving with them
on top of that, my province is allowing people in bars, buffets etc. so we don't understand the difference, other than my family getting together would be a hell of a lot safer than a bunch of strangers at a bar - we're all in smaller social bubbles anyway and we take precautions
I understand your point; just makes this terrible time more difficult for us

I know you have a ton on your plate. I know here it's going to be 72 degrees here next Sunday so likely not too cold for you your way. Maybe something outdoors and everyone bring their own meal/snacks. Seat apart and mask when needed.
