Chris Wallace was quoted earlier in the thread saying that their lecterns were 12 feet apart. But of course we know that Covid-19 is airborne. Loud speech sends out droplets that can linger and move through the air. So Biden may not have been safe even at 12 feet away. IMO he should quarantine.

Some evidence suggests that talking could be a significant mode of viral transmission. A study published on May 13 in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA used laser light scattering to visualize tiny saliva droplets expelled during speech. The research did not measure droplets with viable SARS-CoV-2 virus. But if one assumes the droplets contain seven million virus particles per milliliter, a minute of loud speech could generate more than 1,000 virus-containing droplets that could hang in the air for eight minutes or more, the researchers write in the study. “There is a substantial probability that normal speaking causes airborne virus transmission in confined environments,” they conclude.

How Coronavirus Spreads through the Air: What We Know So Far

I agree that he should quarantine a set number of days after that debate. Chris Wallace too. And whoever else was in that debate room.

When I saw reference to a prep team last night (And out of state people involved/testing positive ) I assumed it meant like physical prep. Setting up lights Etc Prepping the room or secret service advance team. D’uh me. I get it now.

Gotta pick up a relative from the airport today. Wearing a mask in the car. Taking a full shower when I get home. Man has no transportation and little money to get from visiting his mother. Soooo, here I go.
Good of you to do it. Take good care of yourself.

Speaking of them...the Secret Service, WH housekeeping staff, valets, military folk in the WH...I feel for them all. Needlessly at risk when they are just trying to do their jobs.

Oh i made a mistake in assuming it was a Walter Reed Doc speaking. I didn't realize it was the WH Doc. Now I understand. Completely.

Dr. Conley suggested that the president was first diagnosed with the virus on Wednesday rather than Thursday night when Mr. Trump disclosed that he had tested positive on Twitter. While describing what he said was the president’s progress, he said Mr. Trump was “just 72 hours into the diagnosis now,” which would mean midday on Wednesday.

Asked about that, Dr. Conley did not clarify but said that on Thursday afternoon “we repeated testing and, given clinical indications, had a little bit more concern.” Late that night, he said “we got the PCR confirmation that he was” positive.

Trump attended campaign events on both Wednesday night and Thursday, which would be after the point 72 hours earlier.

Former CIA station chief Dan Hoffman emphasized on Saturday the need for the U.S. government to maintain transparency as foreign adversaries could exploit the president's coronavirus diagnosis.

His comments came after the Pentagon told the public that the military was ready if needed during these uncertain times.

"I think it's critically important for the government – in this case, the Department of Defense – both to reassure our allies and our citizens at home as well as deter our enemies by making those sorts of public statements," he told Fox News host Bill Hemmer.

Hemmer asked Hoffman to describe, based on his experience, what was happening behind the scenes in the U.S. government.

Just tell them to wear a cloth mask or a non-medical mask like the rest of the population, if you think that’s foolproof.

Such a GREAT post! IF!!!! but it's not! Yet we cannot leave uneducated folks behind, we must try try try to educate them as the messages aren't getting through to those who just do not understand.

So many are of the belief that masks are 100% foolproof and do not hear or understand what science is saying that social distancing is needed, that masks are not 100%.

Bring an extra mask? For relative just in case ?
Thanks. I texted him to wear a mask in the car too. I know he will. He was able to get a one way ride to visit mother, had to fly back. Responsible relative, just divorced from a quickly remarrying woman (affair), lost job. Down on his luck. Many of us have been there.

Poor guy. You're good family, @Trino.

Apparently not. The CDC says to quarantine for 14 days if exposed, but it appears that Donald Jr and Mike Pence didn’t get the memo...or are ignoring it and putting others at risk.

Regeneron spox Hala Mirza tells @CBSNews's @amybirn that it's incorrect to call what the President has received "polyclonal antibodies." “It is two monoclonal antibodies. It was incorrect in the physician’s letter.”

Polyclonal antibodies are made using several different immune cells. They will have the affinity for the same antigen but different epitopes, while monoclonal antibodiesare made using identical immune cells that are all clones of a specific parent cell
Polyclonal vs. monoclonal antibodies

Could Trump be charged???
This is what the criminal codes call "depraved indifference to human life." In New Jersey, where the Bedminster fundraiser was held, a person can be charged with reckless manslaughter when you "recklessly cause the death of another under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life," according to the criminal code.

Trump, at the very least, had to suspect that he was dangerous to the health of others after Hicks got sick on Air Force One Wednesday night, and he knew it for sure when she tested positive on Thursday morning. Still, he went to the fundraiser in New Jersey and posed for photographs with his adoring fans and sat down with the $250,000 donors at the so-called roundtable.

When did Trump get the virus — and how soon did he know? It matters

AND when the chairwoman, of the Repub Committee was with him on Friday, the day before the Rose Garden and was ALSO tested positive on Wednesday. SHE says she contracted from her son. She also went home to quarantine starting on Saturday, the day of the Rose Garden.

Was she supposed to attend the Rose Garden event?
Was she supposed to attend the debate?

When did her son test positive?
GOP's McDaniel tests positive for coronavirus

And we will have to see about effective contract tracing in Ohio as well.
