I think most people understand the POTUS gets special treatment. Always has, always will. I think there may be some people that are a bit jealous, but that's probably common too. Jmo

I hope most people understand this but based on behavior of many in the American public, they do not.

As I have stated from the beginning, my prediction is the president will be fine due to this aggressive, special treatment. And that will provide fodder for those who wish to downplay this virus:

“See? The president is 74. He’s overweight. But he is FINE! This is JUST the flu! Stop being babies!”

The reality is no one but the elite will be afforded that level of treatment, for the reasons I carefully stated previously.

There is not enough supply for one.

I’m not sure why you think the issue is jealousy? It’s a national security issue if the president gets too sick to do his job. They damn well better be giving him everything they can to protect his health.

If you’ve read my posts you know it’s about the impact of his outcome on the general public, vast sectors of whom who remain so ignorant they not only refuse to wear a mask, they condescend to others who do so or even get violent when asked to or when others do.

Actually MOO, I disagree. This is a reason he did NOT get convalescent plasma from recovered people.

His cocktail is man made. He went with another option than antibodies from recovered folks for that very reason.

MOO

Oh! So he got man made antibodies? Interesting.

I hear people all the time talking about silver platters. That's jealousy. Imo

I also hear mask wearing condescending going both ways here. But that might be my area.

Per cnn
Chris Christie is in the hospital and taking or about to take remdesivir as a precaution.
@GovChristie
In consultation with my doctors, I checked myself into Morristown Medical Center this afternoon. While I am feeling good and only have mild symptoms, due to my history of asthma we decided this is an important precautionary measure.

Wouldn’t those who were notified of their exposure at the Rose Garden have had symptoms leading to testing later? Kellyanne Conway did. So if it can take up to 14 days for symptoms to appear, we don’t know yet if Donald Jr and Pence are in the clear, just because their tests are negative. JMO

Exactly! There is a sliding scale from when an individual is infected and when the clock starts ticking to exhibiting symptoms. That can be anywhere from four days to two weeks. And just because you don't have symptoms doesn't mean you aren't infecting others during the asymptomatic period. It all depends on how much viral load you have in your body.

Please say a prayer for the White House household staff..the butlers, housekeepers, florists, engineers, chefs, valets, etc. Many of them have worked in the White House for decades. They work so hard and aren't in the position to work from home.
What a wonderful and empathetic request. I can only add that these folks also aren't in the position to receive the same aggressive medical treatments that are available to their employers. Imo

ETA: a letter

Update from previous post...
I just delivered relative from airport to his home. We both wore masks, and I kept mine on during the drive after I left him. He said the flight (social distancing) was full. Left all vehicle windows open at home and took a long, long, long full shower.

They probably have but are trying to keep them anonymous. But with such public events that is going to be difficult. Maybe at this point we should not even be naming and discussing them but with it all being so public, it is very difficult. But I am thinking how intrusive it is getting. I don't remember this level of discussion on other public figures that have caught the virus.

Wait. You don’t think that that the president and his inner circle are more important nationally than other public figures? In this country, the health of government officials is a public interest matter.

It damn well better be intrusive. This is huge, to have spread of this novel virus among the inner circle of the president of the US.

How so, is mask wearing condescending? Scientists seem to think they are effective. We’ve been told scientists held off advising them because of the short supply.

Everyone doesn’t have a sewing machine; they may not have bandanas or scarves which are said to be ineffective.

Should I ditch my mask in order not to condescend to others? I would rather provide them a mask and have done so.

President Trump Has Been Treated With an Experimental COVID-19 Antibody Cocktail. What's That?

U.S. President Donald Trump has received a promising but experimental COVID-19 drug still in clinical trials, according to a White House statement released Friday afternoon, following his diagnosis with the disease.

Sean Conley, the President’s personal physician, wrote in a memo that he treated Trump with an eight-gram dose of Regeneron’s experimental antibody cocktail. Trump has also received zinc, vitamin D, aspirin, melatonin and a heartburn drug thought to help fight COVID-19.

Regarding the other drugs the president has been taking ... I have read a couple of articles that said that it 'wasn't clear' if he was already taking them, pre getting the virus.

And when you think about it, it could be true.
Zinc and Vit D to boost his immune system (because he usually didn't wear a mask in public)
Aspirin to minimise risk of stroke (often recommended for people over 70)
Melatonin to help him sleep
Heartburn drug because he may often get heartburn (obesity can make this a common condition, as can other stomach related factors).

IMO

From what I heard it’s really not dangerous. Of course COVID is. With his age and weight the benefit likely far outweighs the risk.

They’re going to do everything humanely possible to keep the president healthy. It becomes a national security issue if he’s not.

I heard from some pundit on the news that we are currently at risk for serious espionage efforts by Russia and China because our focus is elsewhere.
I agree with you. What I notice is MMM and people trying to analyse events and doctor's statements so they can jump to conclusions about how sick Trump really is and what exactly will happen in the future.

IMO, that's not how doctors and scientists operate. They evaluate risk and benefit based on proven facts, and take action with full knowledge that
a) not everything is known, there is uncertainty
b) there is, as yet, no proven miracle cure or magic bullet to combat this disease.
c) they don't rely on emotions like fear, paranoia, unquestioning trust in a higher power, or absolute faith in miracle drugs.

They know, you can only get as much knowledge as you can, then look at the whole situation and make the best decision you can, under the circumstances. It is a balance of risk vs reward.

The race to identify a coronavirus vaccine that is safe and effective for children lags far behind one for adults, meaning America's youngest may not be vaccinated until late next year, health experts tell @ABCNews.

https://twitter.com/ABC/status/1312518802655965189

Despite recent evidence that children may play a larger role in the community spread of COVID-19, experts say the delay is appropriate, because a vaccine should be tested in adults first to ensure it's safe and effective before being tested in children.

“We wouldn't start injecting five-year-olds before we knew what this vaccine did in adults,” said Dr. William Schaffner, professor of preventive medicine and infectious diseases at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville.

“Kids are not little adults, they have very different immune systems, and you might need to have a completely different kind of vaccine for kids,” said Dr. Anita McElroy, a pediatric infectious disease physician at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. "And we're just so at this point so far behind the power curve, we're at the very beginning of any kind of vaccine against COVID [so] that to think we could just take one that works in adults and put it in kids and assume it's going to work fine is actually a foolish thing to do.”

Children will not likely see a coronavirus vaccine until late 2021: Experts

Yes. People are going to feel upset that they can’t receive that level of treatment. That’s just the reality of the situation. The president actually got a compassionate use waiver for the experimental cocktail which isn’t available to the public. That’s necessary. I’m sure that will anger people.
But it’s not the point of my post you responded to. It has nothing to do with it.

Finally, condescension toward those who stubbornly, ignorantly, angrily, and irresponsibly refuse to wear masks is NOT the same as condescension toward those who do.

My God. Wearing masks saves lives and protects health. Not wearing masks is selfish, unscientific, dangerous and wrong.
