Yes and TY. Me too. I could not even spit 26 feet let alone cough.

you'd need scientific studies to know this - it's actually amazing how far even frail elderly people can make their aerosols go.

Not imply you are one - but I am implying that no one knows their vector cone of viral transmission without actual empirical studies.

No one. And it varies from moment to moment, hour to hour, day to day. You'd be surprised how far cough stuff can go (even with tiny coughs - we try to use benign bacteria that everyone has in our culture plates in my labs - which are undergrad labs, nothing sophisticated). We have all kinds of participants, including people with severe respiratory issues (such as cystic fibrosis).

Time is an element too - the droplets continue to move for quite some time, in the direction in which they were first propelled, although arcing downwards, naturally.

Spitting is entirely different, btw. Your lungs should be fairly powerful, even if you're over 65 (I don't know your age - many people don't have any decline in propulsion until 70, but in classes where I have a wide range of ages - the oldest people are usually in their late 60's, it's quite clear that student athletes can outdo them - but they do pretty well!)

Nothing in my post has even a whiff of advocation. It was merely an acknowledgement of past instances, good or bad.

The Nuremberg Trials put punishment in the hands of the court, thankfully. And now we have the International Criminal Court in The Hague that deals with crimes against humanity. I’ve posted this before but Brazil’s Bolsonaro has been accused of this crime for his handling of the pandemic and the court has been asked to take his case. Time will tell.

6 pm The president's doctor, Sean Conley, caused some confusion when discussing Donald Trump's condition on Saturday.

What's the confusion?

But during a briefing just before noon on Saturday, Conley said that Trump was "just 72 hours into the diagnosis now," which would have put his diagnosis at midday Wednesday. Another physician, Dr. Brian Garibaldi, said Trump was treated with an experimental antibody therapy "about 48 hours ago," which would have been midday Thursday.

Clarification of time line...

"This morning while summarizing the President's health, I incorrectly used the term 'seventy two hours' instead of 'day three' and 'fourth eight hours' instead of 'day two' with regards to his diagnosis and the administration of the polyclonal antibody therapy.
"The President was first diagnosed with COVID-19 on the evening of Thursday, October 1st and had received Regeron's antibody cocktail on Friday, October 2nd."

Apparently he referred to the case onset as '72 hours', since Trump was tested Thurs, day 1, and this is day 3.

The media, being exceeding literal, began counting back 72 hours from the moment of the briefing and had conniptions.

I guess, being political reporters, they assume doctors are just politicians in long white jackets.

I just watched the video from a couple of hours ago. I think he looks thinner, paler, older. I hope he is resting and not working. He sounds good - I thought at one point his voice almost broke. No one could not be moved by that. It also sounds like he knows and appreciates all the support. He particularly mentioned and thanked all the support, mentioning the bipartisan and the international support too.

I agree, it was very moving. I also hope that they are convincing him to rest!

I read the article, and it is pretty much a typical response. People want to minimize, deny, and justify their actions in regards to completely ignoring CDC protocol for contact tracing. As if, it does not really apply to them.

These men lied about their contact with a positive Covid case, so they could do what they wanted. They wanted to get on a plane. The selfishness is epic. They could care less about others, community spread. I hope people remember this when it comes time to vote.
Ready for this??? Delta cleared them! A physician cleared them w/o physically seeing them! How "convenient" that these R voted for the recent airline stimulus package.

Emmer, Stauber and Hagedorn met up with Trump on Wednesday at MSP International Airport, then flew with the president to and from a Duluth rally aboard Air Force One.

In separate statements issued on Saturday, Emmer and Stauber said they were cleared by the Office of Attending Physician to travel home to Minnesota and made Delta aware of their situation in advance of the trip.

Was it a doctor who said that the case onset was 72 hrs? If so, I would suggest that the number of hours mentioned by a doctor is correct. They would be charting, dispensing meds, and following medical protocols based on time. The actual number of hours would be in the forefront of their medical decisions. It is not something that they would be mistaken about.

If it was the press that said 72 hours, that could be just an error. If it was the WH that said 72 hrs, then it could be an error, or it could be spin, or it could be true. Unfortunately, there have been credibility issues in reports coming from the WH.

I suppose it would be too much to ask him not to watch TV and to stay off social media but, IMO, it does wonders in helping people to sleep.

So BOTH doctors made a mistake with their timeline at their Saturday briefing? That seems a bit hard to believe.

Minnesota Congressmen on Air Force One with Trump and Hicks flew to MN on Delta commercial flight. Delta policy states that the airline will not allow anyone knowingly exposed to COVID-19 in the past 14 days to travel. Delta not telling the truth? Would you have flown on this flight, knowing these three Congressmen had been exposed to coronavirus?

Another Delta spokesman said there was “a conversation with passengers” about the congressmen’s presence.

But a 30-year-old passenger from Washington, D.C., who asked that his name not be used said Saturday that there was no such conversation and that he and his fiancée were given no option to leave the plane, which he said they would have done had they had that choice.

He also expressed distress that food and drink service continued during the flight, which means the congressmen would have removed their masks if they ate or drank.

Worldwide CoVid rates are going up - UK with its Rt rate of between 2 and 3 is now exponential. Hopefully the new rules will help.

France is climbing too. US remains stable at numbers that put us near the top of the charts and not in a good way. 50,000 people a day are getting CoVid - and that may be rising.

We are still averaging about a 1000 or just under a 1000 deaths per day in the US.

Maybe if it is very windy?

ETA I have found a source that mentioned this distance in April but at that time WHO were not recommending masks then, so it really is not surprising the general public have not universally accepted it, even now. That was 4 months into the pandemic by then and they already had this info about the distances. So why were WHO against masks then?
That was incredibly stupid and irresponsible of them to have advised that. I guess they were low on PPE worldwide and did not want people bulk buying and causing a shortage. They could have instead told people to not buy at the moment the N95 masks and shown them how to make their own. That would have saved thousands of lives.

I, of course, will be sharing this bit of data far and wide - as I consider it an ethical responsibility to keep travelers safe.

Delta is usually pretty good - but power is power. I too would have gotten off the plane but of course, many people who have the means won't be flying at all as long as there are these shenanigans - I hope all the people on that plane go get tested.

Sigh.

Michael Moore sounds ridiculous-- he is going to lose any credibility he ever
had

It’s totally ridiculous. I’m not a conspiracy theorist though. It just makes no sense that the president would ever pretend to have any form of weakness. I just don’t see the logic in that theory.
