So glad to hear this! I have been so worried about Governor Christie. Still keeping him in thoughts and prayers.

He's there as a precaution. Normal people with COVID, including those with asthma, would not be admitted.

What day are we counting as day 1? Today is day 10 if it's the Rose Garden event.

Per CDC, the day symptoms first appeared

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
I think or know I had COVID-19, and I had symptoms

You can be with others after

  • At least 10 days since symptoms first appeared and
  • At least 24 hours with no fever without fever-reducing medication and
  • Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving**Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation
If you had severe illness from COVID-19 (you were admitted to a hospital and needed oxygen), your healthcare provider may recommend that you stay in isolation for longer than 10 days after your symptoms first appeared (possibly up to 20 days) and you may need to finish your period of isolation at home. If testing is available in your community, your healthcare provider may recommend that you undergo repeat testing for COVID-19 to end your isolation earlier than would be done according to the criteria above. If so, you can be around others after you receive two negative tests results in a row, from tests done at least 24 hours apart.

(NOTE: It's been thought he was on daily aspirin / fever reducer daily though?)

And here are quarantine guidelines

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)

RBUBM - I hope those two in a row are PCR and not rapid tests  as MOO I believe that is what Trump may choose to do if suits.

Minneapolis restaurant quarantines 13 who worked Trump event
More at link bbm
MINNEAPOLIS — Thirteen staff members from an iconic Minneapolis steakhouse were quarantining after the restaurant catered a fundraiser attended by President Donald Trump during his visit to Minnesota last week, the restaurant said Monday.

The 13 work for Murray’s Restaurant in downtown Minneapolis, which catered the fundraiser on Wednesday at the Lake Minnetonka home of Marty Davis, CEO of the quartz countertop manufacturer Cambria Co. LLC. About 40 contributors paid $200,000 a couple or $100,000 per person for the chance to meet the president and hear him speak.

“Our staff was there to work the party only and at no point did any staff come in close proximity to the president,” the restaurant said in a statement. “Upon learning of the president’s positive COVID-19 test, we immediately enacted a 14-day quarantine for all staff who worked the party. Additionally, each staff member who worked the party will be tested for COVID-19.”

Murray’s, a family owned restaurant since 1946, is famous as “Home of the Silver Butter Knife Steak.” It’s popular among the city’s movers and shakers and sports figures. A spokesman for the restaurant, Chuck Sanger, said the restaurant is still able to operate normally despite the quarantine.

Davis has not returned multiple messages from The Associated Press since the White House announced on Friday that the president had contracted COVID-19.

One guest at the Davis home in Shorewood, St. Paul philanthropist Helene Houle, said in an interview Monday that nobody got closer than six feet to the president. All the guests had to wait in their cars to get tested before the event, she said, and they weren’t allowed to go in until everybody tested negative.

“We got to have our photos taken with President Trump but we weren’t next to him, we were 6 to 8 feet away from him,” she said.

Then they took their assigned seats in the dining room, at some distance from the podium where Trump spoke. The tables were spread out, though the seating at each table was normally spaced, she said. Nobody was worried because they all had just tested negative, she said.
I havent heard of NAC but will check it out thanks. I'm early 50s.

Yes, always been prone to mild headaches but that Covid headache on day 1 was extreme. I couldnt get out of bed.

Luckily, that is one thing I dont suffer now - have far fewer since I hardly go in to the office. Whether it was tension from the commute, lighting, more stress, eyesight (readers on/off! Wear varifocals here)...

Fatigue days are definitely becoming less and less, fortunately.

Appreciate your advice and kind thought, thanks :)

NAC is widely recommended. We have added links to a number of doctor's youtube videos during Covid.

Dr. Roger Seheult, a pulmonologist, has great videos on so many scientific issues around Covid.
He has also shared his vitamin / supplements data that is part of his daily regimin.
He ALWAYS builds up the value of NAC.

This video is older, so the data/numbers/statistics are totally irrelevant.
But his discussion of Oxidative Stress AND NAC are in this video.

Kris Ehresmann, the infectious disease director at MDH (Minnesota), said the state has so far not identified anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 who attended the Trump rally in Duluth on Wednesday.

Ehresmann said the state has not asked the White House or the CDC to help with contact tracing.

Ehresmann also said state and local health officials do the primary case investigations of Minnesota residents, meaning any contact tracing on the president’s activities in the state would start with other outside health officials and be later shared with the state. “Not only is the president the president, so he is not going to have time to talk to our case investigators, but he’s not a Minnesota resident,” Ehresmann said.

My sister in law had Covid in March. She was never admitted, but I was worried about her and checked on her daily. Just IMO, but it's acceptable to worry about people.

I would like to see the data FDA used to make the recommendation.

MHOO....I feel the vaccine should be offered under EU to those in HC and long term care. Every long term care facility in Virginia is/has experienced an outbreak with many deaths. Everyday, in my small town one to three have died, over 60ish. Its heartbreaking. My friends living in LTC and ALs are scared to death, fear they will not survive the winter. Even with daily testing of staff, one or more test positive every few days.

All models are projecting increases in deaths for Nov and Dec. but no age related projections. Based on previous deaths. I'm predicting/guessing they will follow the same pattern, our older population and underlying health conditions.

I ask myself, would I take the vaccine if I lived in a communal setting, relying on staff to care for me?
Yeap, I think dying of Covid is a greater risk than the vaccine, based on information released, side effects. JMHO

From what I understand, Phase III trials are complete when 150 in the placebo group have caught the virus. I guess that could be two weeks, two months or longer. That would be only 1.5% of 10,000 people so, where the infection rate is higher, that number should be reached quickly IMO. LTC should be a priority.

Over 20 farmworkers test positive for COVID-19 in Vermont

State health officials say 26 farmworkers at an apple orchard in Addison County have tested positive. The cases were the majority of the 33 new cases reported in the state’s largest single-day increase in about four months.

The workers traveled from Jamaica to Champlain Orchards for seasonal work. The workers arrived on September 14 and began the two-week quarantine process required under state guidelines.

The first positive test came back last Friday. The orchard says it is working with the Department of Health to determine if those infected will have access to health care under the Coronavirus Relief Act.

Vermont State Health Commissioner Dr. Levine says people who have been apple picking at the orchard or who visited the farm stand in the past few weeks are not at risk.

New study ....
...respectfully snipped for focus...

The actual study that article was based on can be downloaded here. It was not a controlled study, nor was it peer-reviewed. They conducted a 6-minute walk test and during that test, two subjects with COPD required treatment with supplemental oxygen. They also did not measure tidal volume or minute ventilation.

Another 6-minute walk test--a peer reviewed randomized controlled trial--found that, "Dyspnea variation was significantly higher with surgical mask (+5.6 vs. +4.6; P<0.001) and the difference was clinically relevant."

Dyspnea, by the way means "labored breathing."

The effectiveness of masks for preventing infection is also questionable. Another peer reviewed study that tested the efficiency of both N95 and surgical masks at preventing the escape of non-filtered exhalations indicated that the surgical mask leaked air around the sides the most, but the N95 mask also leaked air.

The CDC states:

"Masks should NOT be worn by children under the age of 2 or anyone who has trouble breathing, is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance."

I was just looking at the UK death figures for each month and thought I'd share for anyone vaguely interested:

March.....2,425
April.....24,189
May......10,821
June.......2,956
July...........798
August.......312
Sept...........622
(Oct so far 246)

United Kingdom Coronavirus: 515,571 Cases and 42,369 Deaths - Worldometer

Coronavirus Update (Live): 35,786,851 Cases and 1,049,816 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Pandemic - Worldometer

Not happy that the October figure is surely going to top 1000. Question is, are we going to go into this "circuit breaker" lockdown I keep hearing about?

So how many people would line up and take this vaccine, especially in light of this new information? not me, that's for sure--

GOP Sen. Ron Johnson Went to Oktoberfest Party While Awaiting COVID-19 Test Results

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson attended an Oktoberfest fundraising dinner on Friday evening while he was awaiting the test results that would show he was infected with COVID-19.

The Wisconsin Republican chose to attend the bash even though he knew that President Trump and many of his inner circle had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Johnson, who didn’t reveal his diagnosis until Saturday, justified his behavior in comments by saying he only took his mask off when it was time to address the crowd. He also insisted that he was “at least 12 feet from anybody” during his speech at the event. It was held at the River Club of Mequon, a self-described “casually elegant private club committed to personal service.”

Johnson has previously come out against statewide mask mandates, and warned against “overreacting.” We “don’t shut down our economy because tens of thousands of people die on the highways,” he said in March.

When the deaths are doubling every 3 or 4 days appears to be the danger point IMO.

If a person with a disability is not able to wear a face mask ...

Examples of reasonable modifications to a face mask policy
  • Allow a person to wear a scarf, loose face covering, or full face shield instead of a face mask;
    face-shield.jpg
  • Allow customers to order online with curbside pick-up or no contact delivery in a timely manner;
  • Allow customers to order by phone with curb-side pick-up or no contact delivery in a timely manner;
  • Allow a person to wait in a car for an appointment and enter the building when called or texted; or
  • Offer appointments by telephone or video calls.

We've not had today's numbers yet, but our average has gone up from 7 per day a month ago, to 53 a day now.

Nobody has provided a link about whether the White House testing regime is unreliable though. I have only seen opinion AFAIK.

I have posted it twice for you. BRB to do for the third time. Or perhaps you cannot see my posts so someone else will have to respond to it for you to see as that sometimes happens on the threads.

BRB with a third post... of the same information I have done..

ETA: Even post #138 on this thread

"Yes, we discussed a few days back on the thread.

The White House relied on a rapid test, but used it in a way it was not intended.

But one product they use, Abbott’s ID Now, was never intended for that purpose and is known to deliver incorrect results. In issuing an emergency use authorization, the Food and Drug Administration said the test was only to be used by a health care provider “within the first seven days of symptoms.”

The ID Now has several qualities in its favor: It’s portable, doesn’t need skilled technicians to operate and delivers results in 15 minutes. Used to evaluate someone with symptoms, the test can quickly and easily diagnose Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

But in people who are infected but not yet showing symptoms, the test is much less accurate, missing as many as one in three cases.

Here is the original FDA concern/alert

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update: FDA Informs Public About Possible Accuracy Concerns with Abbott ID NOW Point-of-Care Test

Trump again downplays virus that left him hospitalized, compares COVID-19 to flu

A day after returning from the hospital amid a severe case of the coronavirus, President Donald Trump encouraged Americans to learn to live with COVID-19 in a Tuesday morning tweet.

"Flu season is coming up! Many people every year, sometimes over 100,000, and despite the Vaccine, die from the Flu. Are we going to close down our Country? No, we have learned to live with it, just like we are learning to live with Covid, in most populations far less lethal!!!" Trump tweeted.

The CDC estimates that between 12,000 and 61,000 people have died of the flu in the U.S. each year dating back to 2010, though an estimated 100,000 people died of the flu in 1968.

Huge increase of 46 higher...!

Why do you think this is? Colleges? Elementary - High Schools?

Sorry, I know I need to research, forgot where you are from. Take care.

Rep. Carbajal Exposed to COVID by Sen. Mike Lee

Congressmember Salud Carbajal stated that he’d tested negative for the coronavirus after being exposed to Senator Mike Lee, who was diagnosed positive after attending the Rose Garden reception for the new Supreme Court nominee at the WH.

“Despite taking every precaution — including wearing a mask, social distancing, and hand-washing — I have learned I was exposed to an individual who tested positive for COVID-19,” Carbajal wrote in a press release issued by his office in Washington, D.C.

Carbajal had very mild symptoms, and it was uncertain if they were coronavirus or not. He will stay in quarantine for two weeks with his wife, Gina Carbajal, who also tested negative. Members of Carbajal’s office have been working remotely and were not exposed.

Sen. Lee attended the Rose Garden reception for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett on September 26 and was seen hugging people and shaking hands while not wearing a mask.

Ok so that looks like it is equivalent to doubling every 10 days IMO.
7, 14, 28, 56.
