I have a question about the vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna @10ofRods or anyone else with insight. If I receive one of these vaccinations, how will I know how long it will last? How soon would I be unprotected? With my annual flu shot I receive in September, I figure the protection it offers will fade by sometime in the spring, when less flu is circulating. Is this vaccination for Covid similar, I wonder. Has anyone given us that information? Thanks. :)

I’m allergic to iodine so I bet this works. Hope it works regardless:

The Cardiff University report revealed that mouthwashes containing at least 0.07 per cent cetypyridinium chloride (CPC) showed "promising signs" of being able to combat the virus.

It supports another study that found CPC-based mouthwashes are effective in reducing the amount of virus that an infected individual is producing.

As long as it contains 0.07 per cent cetypyridinium chloride, I guess it doesn't matter if it's alcohol free? I'm not familiar with the UK brand Dentyl used in this study. Does it contain alcohol?

The US brand Crest® PRO-HEALTH™ Mouthwash (which is sitting in my cart right now at Amazon, lol) does contain 0.07 per cent cetypyridinium chloride according to this report (sponsored by Crest - report has nothing to do with the current Covid situation): https://www.dentalcare.com/en-us/professional-education/ce-courses/ce317/cetylpyridinium-chloridecpc

She said she celebrated her birthday by going to a restaurant with her friend: if i were betting, that would be my best bet as to how she got it. I sometimes want to go to a restaurant and sit down and have a meal, especially since there are so few people in restaurants these days but I keep recalling the CDC coming out with a report that there is a pretty high risk of getting the virus from dining in. I don't imagine she contracted the virus in her back yard.

“Eight miles from the nearest town, our ranch felt like a sanctuary. Until it didn’t.”

Your ranch is a sanctuary if you and your household stay at home.

When you start reading article you think, oh, they stayed on their ranch- wonder how they got the virus: then you continue reading and then she talks about going to a restaurant and doing all kinds of things that certainly were a risk (from low to high) for contracting the virus.

That would be a great thing--maybe i will start using mouthwash- just in case it proves to be true in clinical studies

“I went in and out of businesses where others weren’t following mask guidelines. There’s no way to tell exactly where or how I got infected.”

Wonder how many people could tell exactly where they had been for the past two weeks prior to receiving such a phone call......

That certainly gives one pause: But nobody was aware of what was to come!!!!! sigh
To put this pandemic into perspective, everyone should think of what they were doing one year ago today on Nov 17, 2019, and what their lives are like today, one year later.

Yes, he was pretty quick! :D
Not to worry, our feathers aren't ruffled.

Things are looking much better today. They tested thousands yesterday and only found one more case, so far. Our Premier is much happier today.
We just have to wait it out for two weeks and make sure nothing else develops.
My niece and her two boys who live in the outbreak area got tested yesterday, and they are fine.

Thank goodness your niece and her boys are ok. I think after two weeks you guys should be ok too...fingers crossed. Hard and fast control is clearly the answer to being Covid free...

ETA Control is probs a bad choice of word, what I meant was hard and fast decision making by good leadership...

IMO MOO

Well, I don't know the answer, but I suspect we don't have enough data yet. I wouldn't be surprised if, like the flu shot, it loses effectiveness over time.

I'm concerned too that it may prove to be less effective in older adults like DH and me (in our mid 70s). I think we may need to continue with the masks and distancing, etc., indefinitely.

Like I posted last week, we (the clinic I’m working in) have a 6 year old child in intensive care and no one can visit. All other family members have tested positive for COVID.
