this virus really makes it seem as if nursing homes are the worst place for the elderly- as if they would be better off living in complete isolation (of course once they are unable to care for themselves, which is highly likely why they are in a home, not possible). Should the most feeble elderly be cared for by robots to avoid infection? Seems so inhumane but...

I was told that the woman who was 100 had her two favorite nurses with her when she passed. It sounds like they were taking good care of her ever since she had to go there because she was frail and couldn't live on her own anymore. Then Covid took her. It must be so hard on the staff of these facilities to see their patients die from Covid.

Two elderly (ages 95 and 100) members of my extended family died of Covid-19 last month. They were in the same nursing home in Illinois, which has been having an outbreak. The next time I travel to Illinois, I'll have new graves to visit in the cemetery where many of my father's relatives are buried.

So sorry to hear this. Just recently saw that five people in my small town died yesterday of Covid. Makes this pretty real and scary.

That is shocking and scary. Multiply that all over the country, and we are in for very hard and sad times ahead on top of all the illness and deaths we've already had due to the virus.

Couple who tested positive for Covid are arrested after boarding flight

"They knowingly boarded a flight aware of their positive COVID-19 test results, placing the passengers of the flight in danger of death,"

A couple in Hawaii face reckless endangerment charges after they boarded a flight with their 4-year-old son even though they had tested positive for Covid-19, police said.

The couple, Wesley Moribe and Courtney Peterson, knew they had tested positive when they boarded a United Airlines flight from San Francisco to Lihue. San Francisco International Airport officials had instructed them to isolate and not to travel.

When Moribe and Peterson arrived at Lihue Airport, they were escorted by police to an isolation room for further processing and investigation.

Moribe, 41, and Peterson, 46, residents of Wailua, were arrested on second-degree reckless endangerment charges. A family member took their son home, and Child Protective Services was notified.

Yup. We are such a mess over here that I doubt I’ll feel safe for a long, long time. He sounds a bit unbalanced to me.
He knows that the virus is infectious enough to require a mask (once a person is infected ).
He know that the virus is infectious enough to see his covid patients in a separate sterilised back room.
Sounds like, at some level, he knows this is MUCH worse than the usual flu.
But he is caught up in the politics.

Some honest thoughts:

Again, I’ve studied all this enough this last year to understand the importance of vaccines and that they DO save lives, and I sure don’t want to be the one to lend to any vaccine reluctance or distrust, rather the opposite. However, again let’s honestly address the elephant in the room which is the fact that some people are/may be uncomfortable or wary. I keep having this scary worry/picture of later down the line, of those lawsuit commercials against pharmaceutical companies that we see on TV (you know the ones with the strong male voice: “IF YOU TOOK....xxxx....”).

Hopefully this absolutely will not be the case, of course! Just sayin. Again, I want to be able to openly address the elephant in the room that some are distrustful, and getting everyone to take the vaccine will be a challenge. This is also something that many are saying needs to be happening right now, a campaign, etc. to help educate people about feeling confident about taking a vaccine.

Could you imagine, IF there is something wrong with the vaccines and a large number of the population is vaccinated. Of course, no vaccinations and people will continue to sick and die, so really no choice here. Again, this is not to lend distrust, rather to talk about this openly, because let’s face it, a lot of people may be anxious about it. It has also been stated by Dr. O and others that African America populations also may be especially distrustful, and as we know, this is a demographic which is especially vulnerable.

By all accounts, physicians are saying this is safe and will save lives. So I’m going to try to get those lawsuits out of my head. But honestly, I am scared simply due to the length of time it has taken to develop these, but a doctor mentioned “warp speed” doesn’t mean it’s not safe. Again, I want to get to the bottom of all this 6 months recommended for phase 3 clinical trials, and what seems to be possibly a reduction of time under EUA, if I’m understanding this correctly.

I’m going to head over to the latest WHO conference and see what is being said there wrt vaccines.

I do recall in an older interview with Dr. Gottlieb, former FDA commissioner who is also on the board of Pfizer, talking about EUA, and the need for it to be looked at more closely, something along those lines.

Thank you, Dixie. This is exactly what I plan to study, as mentioned above, as I do trust other countries and the team at WHO, whom I’ve gotten to “know” during this past year.

Thank you for adding that - I think mine was too (it's very hard for me to believe that CVS or Von's is employing actual nurses to staff the cash register and wait around to give flu shots).

I wonder if we'll see similar techs giving shots for COVID. I would guess yes.

I was particularly interested in the occupational tiers discussed in the vaccine video posted here, which talks about what is required to actually bring distribution to fruition. Particularly interesting to me was the technical tier. I’ll watch the video again and outline as an eta.
