Biden to speed release of coronavirus vaccines, ending practice of holding back shots for second dose
so this plan isn’t to give anyone one dose-instead of two - but only not hold back those second doses that are already made and in reserve? Are they producing enough that there will be second doses ready when needed?

.

I’ve seen nothing to indicate vaccines are being produced in the numbers that would be required to insure second doses according to schedule for all of those who received first doses if we release all doses upfront. So, no, the “plan” isn’t officially to just give one shot to everyone. It’s more a plan to give that second shot “when it’s available”.

Given how much some states have struggled with rolling out the number of vaccines they have been allotted already, I’m not sure what doubling that allotment would look like from a practical standpoint anyway. Many states don’t appear to be capable of administering what they’ve already been given.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh have received their Covid-19 vaccinations, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson said Saturday.
The inoculations were administered by a Household Doctor at Windsor Castle, a royal source said.
To prevent inaccuracies and further speculation, Her Majesty, who is aged 94, decided that she would let it be known she has had the vaccination, the source added. Her husband is aged 99.

Miami coroner reviewing doctor's death 2 weeks after vaccine

An otherwise healthy doctor (OB- GYN), died two weeks after receiving the vaccine. An autopsy was done and his death is also being investigated by the CDC to see if in fact his death is related to the vaccine.

Pretty scary: he was supposedly a healthy man----we shall see what the outcome of the autopsy is and the CDC investigation.

My doc says if you are having side effects (most anyway) mean your immune system is doing what it’s supposed to.

Also read a good sleep before vaccine might be helpful.
I had body aches. All over and intense. Literally from my neck to my toes. I don’t remember ever hurting all over all at one like that. My thighs and lower back were the worst. Low grade fever, 100 degrees, headache and I was tired. I nearly fainted once on the evening after the vaccine. My vision was closing in and the room spun. I immediately laid down and the feeling passed. It only happened that one time. It is significant because I have never fainted, passed out or anything like that. It was a very bizarre feeling. Now I am on day three. All symptoms gone except minor body aches. I avoided pain/fever reducers to allow my immune system to work. However, the body aches got so bad that first evening, I had to take something. My second shot is scheduled and I also scheduled the day off after. Despite all of my complaints, I am sure it was better than risking Covid.

Oh it sounds not fun and scary... the second shot is supposed to be worse. :(

Percolated through younger people in schools and elsewhere, hit the families at Thanksgiving, has been rapidly growing ever since and is now exponential.

It's been what we consider to be nippy at night. Outdoor parties in my neighborhood definitely move indoors by 10 pm. And they just slowed when this work week began. In 2-3 weeks it should be a bit better.

Outdoor parties? Wow. Must be nice wintering in California.

It's a sunny balmy 35° here.....;).....forgot my gloves can't feel my fingers ..!

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this, I looked around and didn't see one about our own experiences. I'm a little nervous because I've been under the weather since Tuesday night when I woke up in the middle of the night with a bad headache and some congestion. In the last few days, I've had a low-grade fever (99.8 was the highest) and felt pretty achy, but other than a mild tickle in my throat, no other respiratory symptoms. Just tired. I don't think I have the virus, but I know that there are asymptomatic and mild cases, even though I've heard that even mild cases are pretty debilitating. Ordinarily I would just chalk it up to a cold or mild flu but obviously as others have expressed it's difficult to be nonchalant about this. I live by myself and have the option to work remotely which I've been doing since I started not feeling well, and I definitely don't want to see my mother and expose her just in case. I'm thinking I may just go get a test for peace of mind, But I'm not sure if I'd even qualify for one given the mildness of my symptoms. I'm in the Pittsburgh PA area FYI if anyone has any insights on testing here.

1. Check your PA and county or municipal health dept web sites- see what they offer- free testing?
drive through? mail in? anything? some areas will test anyone- no symptoms required.
2. Call your so-called "health care provider"- have a GP? See what they say. (10 days and 24 hrs without a fever = quarantine over as per the CDC and a fever is over 100.4F...)

I know that we were all talking about 10 day quarantine.... CDC does not think people are infectious after 10 days in the overwhelming majority of cases

Have currently 6 family/friends that recently tested positive.

This is what they said.....
“It’s just allergies”
“Little respiratory thing I picked up”

Winter is my off season for allergies.
If I had symptoms like that, my first thought would be covid not allergies.

All started with mild congestion, bit of a stuffy nose, fatigue. Some had a slight headache. Some had low grade fever, others had high fever.

All were surprised they tested positive.

Less than half of Chicago Public School teachers showed up for first day of school reopening

Reopening Letter | Chicago Public Schools

Are The Risks Of Reopening Schools Exaggerated?

“I don’t understand why we have to risk our lives when we’re so close to a vaccine,” one teacher said.

A fire continues to burn as teachers teach virtual classes during a protest against returning to in-person teaching outside of Brentano Elementary School in Chicago on Jan. 4, 2021.

CHICAGO — Despite a work order requiring public school teachers to return in person this week, Kirstin Roberts did not go into the Brentano Elementary Math and Science Academy, on the city’s northwest side, where she teaches preschool.

Instead, she cleared several inches of snow from the school’s courtyard, set up her laptop and taught her students remotely outside as temperatures dipped well into the 30s on Monday.

“I feel safer sitting outside and working than I do inside the building,” Roberts, 53, said, who along with several other teachers sat in the cold in protest of the order.

Hang in there

Thank you so much to you and everyone who responded and gave input. I did go get a test and much to my surprise my rapid test came back positive!

What is scary is I just really don't know where or how I got it. I live alone and have worked remotely since Dec 23rd. I spent New Years Eve and Day with my boyfriend - he does go out because of his work more than I do but hasn't been sick at all. New Years Eve I did go to the grocery store but masks are required here to enter. I did go get a manicure Monday evening but with masks and plexiglass and the doc said that was too soon to have shown symptoms Tuesday night. The doc says a lot of people can't figure it out because it's so prevalent.

Well I'm young and in good health and blessed to have very mild symptoms and a safe place to quarantine. And excuse to finally catch up on my reading!
