Those over 75 can’t even get it yet here.
I keep calling, doctor says they haven’t received the vaccine yet. What?!
People are going to the neighboring counties to try and get it. How are the elderly supposed to get it if they can’t drive? People can’t sit outside in a wheelchair in freezing cold weather for hours to wait in line.
You can’t speed up what you don’t have.
It’s a huge mess.
JMO

very sad to read that
sigh

Covid in Scotland: Lockdown lifting 'unlikely' as deaths pass 5,000

Scotland's first minister has said the country's current lockdown is "very unlikely" to be lifted at the end of the month.

Nicola Sturgeon was speaking as she confirmed that more than 5,000 people have now died after testing positive for the virus.

A review of the current restrictions is due to be carried out at the end of January.

Ms Sturgeon said it was possible that there would be no easing at that point.

A further 54 deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours - bringing the total by that measure to 5,023.

(CNN)A thorough cleaning is part of the every-four-years tradition that comes with the outgoing president and his family swapping White House living with the incoming president and family.

The delicate and highly choreographed event of packing up and moving out, and unpacking and moving in, done by dozens of prepped and trained staff and movers, typically occurs in the six-hour window when both the exiting and entering presidents and their spouses attend Inauguration Day ceremonies on Capitol Hill. By the time the new president and first lady return to the White House, all of their stuff will have been moved in and ready to go -- down to a refrigerator stocked with their favorite foods and the master bathroom equipped with their preferred shampoo.

But, like most things Trump administration, this January 20 won't be very traditional.

Before the Bidens move in, the White House will first undergo a Covid-19 cleansing, top to bottom, from East Wing to West Wing. According to federal contract data reviewed by CNN, the total for the amplified White House inauguration deep clean right now hovers near a half-million dollars.

A candidate for Staten Island, N.Y., borough president on Monday issued an apology for reportedly shouting “Heil Hitler” in a Facebook video while calling on people to push back against local coronavirus safety restrictions.

In a video from a Dec. 2 protest on Staten Island over the closure of the restaurant Mac’s Public House, Leticia Remauro, who served as a campaign aide to Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (N.Y.), can be seen shouting in defense of the business defying New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s COVID-19 safety rules.

“We’re with the small business community, with Staten Island to stand up for our right — the right to pay taxes so that we can pay the salaries of these good men and women,” Remauro says in the video as police officers stand in the background. “They are just doing their job.”

“But, not for nothing. Sometimes you got to say,'Heil Hitler!' Not a good idea to send me here,” Remauro said in the video.

Remauro, a former Staten Island Republican Party chairwoman, this week issued statements on her remarks, telling the New York Daily News that she apologizes “profusely that the word I used in trying to create an analogy were offensive.”

If someone is going to invoke that slogan, the least she can do is make sense, and use it in the correct context! Embarrassing on sooo many levels LOL. Imo

COVID-19: New cases may be running at 250,000 a day, and pressure on NHS 'won't start easing until March'

Pressure on the NHS will not start to reduce until March, ministers have been warned - amid fears that new infections could be running at more than 250,000 a day.

Downing Street has been told by government scientists that the rollout of the vaccines is unlikely to cause the mortality rate to decline until later in February.

The vaccines are unlikely to have an impact in January because of the three-week lag time it takes before it has an effect.

Just when I thought it couldn't get worse...only 171 total vaccinated in Virginia yesterday and now the state website in Spanish telling folks they DO NOT need the vaccine.
The ONLY state with a governor who is a PHYSICIAN!!!

Website translation mistake, long phone waits: Virginia vaccine advisers discuss struggles

A translation problem on the Virginia Department of Health website apparently has been telling Spanish readers they don’t need the coronavirus vaccine.

The issue came up during a Virginia Vaccination Advisory Workgroup telemeeting Monday. Dr. Rebecca Vargas-Jackson, a member of the group, said her students at George Mason University were the first to bring it to her attention. Before the faulty translation, the English passage simply meant the vaccine wasn’t mandatory, she said.

“There is nothing worse than providing misleading information to people that are looking for some answers,” Vargas-Jackson said.

Health department staff at the meeting said they would “escalate” her concern. The mistake could have serious consequences in a state where Latino people are at higher risk of getting COVID-19 and becoming seriously ill.

snipped....

So far Virginia has received more than half a million doses from Pfizer and Moderna vaccines combined. About 190,000 of them have been injected into Virginians’ arms, according to state health department data. Only 15,130 people, in a state of 8.5 million, have been fully vaccinated with both the first and second doses.

Unless the virus infects only Democrats who wore masks, some repubs are either not getting tested, or concealing their positive results. We're exactly 6 days removed from the Insurrection/Riot, so I would expect more announcements in the coming days.

Imagine having to walk through the Capitol building to do your job after hundreds of screaming, yelling, defecating rioters were just there. I'm sure there were some Covid positives amongst the mob.
