Yes, I cannot imagine two N95! I've been wearing a cloth mask over a vented N95 since last March. ;) I rarely wear as I don't go out much - trunk pick ups and dr. visits are it. At doc, double mask and a face shield. Last week I had to mail something very important and timely, so I went to my post office to put in their drop box at the curb. Alas! They were GONE! I had to scoot in really quick to put in the inside drop box.
I honestly like the cloth masks too- I had my stepmom mail me a few she made. :)

The good news is, US covid deaths seem to be starting to decline ... still very high, but gradually lowering.

Daily U.S. Covid-19 deaths finally appear to be declining from all-time high levels
While daily deaths still remain near all-time highs, and are well above the highest figures during earlier surges, the average number of deaths have broadly fallen in recent days.
U.S. Covid-19 Deaths Appear to Be Easing - WSJ.com

The bad news is that Asian Americans are experiencing increased violence against them.

Since the onset of Covid-19 we have seen an uptick in crime against Asian Americans”
.. an 84-year-old man originally from Thailand ... knocked to the ground by a man who ran into him. Mr. Ratanapakdee died two days later at a local hospital.
... arrested a man suspected in a string of assaults in that city’s Chinatown, including allegedly pushing a 91-year-old man to the ground.
According to the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism ... attacks on people of Asian descent in the U.S. have been on the rise since the start of the pandemic last year. In March and April, there were more anti-Asian hate crimes in various cities than the previous totals for the full year of 2019.

Ooooo :(
I’m curious what we’ll see next week or so with Super Bowl numbers. Of course also things are officially opening back up.
And we’re back to school end of March.

At this point I’m trying to hope for the best things will get-and stay-better *crosses fingers*

Our Covid numbers are going down, so of course, our new governor has to do away with the mask mandate.

I think that the data on Covid related deaths is completely flawed. Under reported, over reported, I don't know. But instead of just having raw data, it seems like there has been a political under current in the United States. To either hide the information or inflate it...

Disgusted. And why should someone lose their job if they legitimately couldn't keep up with the work? If this person got so swamped with the data, why wasn't someone provided to help? Seems fishy, especially when the supervisor was transferred...

Do our members have any info re kidney transplant recipients getting the vaccine? My daughter's transplant doctors have never alerted her to get it, and when she finally asked them, they said it was ok, although they admitted that there was no research on it. Many months ago they warned her that kidney organ recipients had a high death rate if they contacted covid.

They were in constant contact with her on what she should do to prevent being infected with covid, which entailed her separating from her husband if he continued to work (he stayed home), keeping her kids home from school (which she did), washing her clothes immediately after she came in from taking her dog for a walk, etc. She was so scared, and unfortunately I was kicked out of her bubble.

But with all of her doctor's strict guidelines and attention, they have never called her to recommend the vaccine. We agree that because she is staying very safe, she will wait to see how the vaccines affect people in her condition. If anybody has knowledge of someone else in her condition, who has had a vaccine, it would help to hear about it. TIA

It will take time to iron it all out. I guess I can kind of understand how someone could fall behind, but why they weren't given more help is beyond me. Still, to me, falling behind isn't as bad as intentionally deceiving for one's own purposes. <modsnip: politicizing>
No one knows if that is why the stats were not updated.

If we get sent into lockdown again, I'm glad I have my stocks. It was hard enough for my fellow teachers during spring 2020 when we couldn't leave. This is when it truly is important to save money for a "rainy day".

Mass. Restaurant Owners Grateful for Increased Capacity Limits on Valentine's Day Weekend
more at link
It's Valentine's Day weekend, and business owners in Massachusetts are grateful for the more relaxed COVID restrictions that took effect last Monday.
With no curfew and increased capacity limits, more people can eat at restaurants on a weekend where people come together in the name of love. It's welcome news for restaurant owners who have been dealing with slower sales for months and restriction after restriction.
