New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo under investigation for nursing home deaths

The FBI and federal prosecutors in Brooklyn are investigating Gov. Andrew Cuomo's coronavirus task force with a particular focus on his administration's handling of nursing homes early in the coronavirus pandemic, two sources familiar with the matter told ABC News.

The investigation, first reported by the Albany Times Union, is in its initial stages. Subpoenas have been issued, the sources said.

Last week, an aide conceded the administration withheld the nursing home death toll from state lawmakers out of fear it would be used against the state by the Trump administration.

US federal agents have seized more than 10 million fake N95 masks in recent weeks, the result of an ongoing investigation into counterfeits sold to hospitals, medical facilities and government agencies.

The most recent seizures occurred on Wednesday (local time) when Homeland Security agents intercepted hundreds of thousands of counterfeit 3M brand masks in a warehouse, officials said.

Investigators also notified about 6,000 potential victims in at least 12 states including hospitals, medical facilities and others who may have unknowingly purchased knockoffs, urging them to stop using the apparently medical-grade masks.

Homeland Security officials would not say which states the phony masks were sent to, but said criminal charges would be forthcoming.

Life expectancy in the United States fell by a full year in the first six months of 2020, the federal government reported on Thursday, the largest drop since World War II and a grim measure of the deadly consequences of the coronavirus pandemic.

Life expectancy is the most basic measure of the health of a population, and the stark decline over such a short period is highly unusual and a signal of deep distress.

Life expectancy of the Black population declined by 2.7 years in the first half of 2020, slicing away 20 years of gains. The life expectancy gap between Black and white Americans, which had been narrowing, is now at six years, the widest it has been since 1998.

“I knew it was going to be large but when I saw those numbers, I was like, ‘Oh my God,’” Elizabeth Arias, the federal researcher who produced the report, said of the racial disparity. Of the drop for the full population, she said, “We haven’t seen a decline of that magnitude in decades.”

Influencer Who Licked Toilet Bowl 'Now In Hospital With Coronavirus' - The Hook

‘Coronavirus Challenge’ in which the platform’s ‘influencers’ film themselves licking random objects.

A kid who licked toilets as part of the #CoronaVirusChallenge says he's now in the hospital with coronavirus.

The teen’s Twitter handle was also suspended subsequent to his act of stupidity and it just goes to show a few extra ‘likes’ is not worth potentially killing yourself over.

Other young people have been following the trend licking the handles of cars and even children’s scooters, with some racking up millions of views on the platform.

Only this morning, news broke that the guy who filmed himself licking products on a supermarket shelf in Virginia, had now been arrested on terror charges.

YOU CAN COMBAT COVID-19
Scientists and healthcare providers still need your help to develop safe and effective vaccines and medicines to prevent and treat COVID-19. Scientists and healthcare providers continue to develop new vaccines and test treatments for COVID-19.

If you have COVID-19 now, learn what your treatment options are or how to join a clinical trial.

If you’ve never had COVID-19, you can join a clinical trial for these vaccines or for other ways to prevent the disease.

If you have had COVID-19 in the past, you can donate plasma or blood to help others recover
