I think I'm due my vaccine by the end of April but it may be sooner if they keep up the pace. Any hope is a v good thing!

Fox anchor suspended after saying he was ‘annoyed’ at obese people getting Covid vaccine

He also thinks over weight people stayed home while people like him risked their lives going into work everyday. An over weight person couldn't be an essential worker right?
Blake McCoy, Fox 5 news anchor, “He has been suspended pending further review.”
“I’m annoyed obese people of all ages get priority vaccine access before all essential workers,” he said in the now-deleted tweet.
“When most stayed home, we went into work everyday last March, April, May and everyday since putting ourselves & loved ones at risk. Vaccinate all essential workers. Then obese,” he said.
Within hours of his initial comments, the news anchor was forced to issue an apology, saying he regretted what he said in his tweet.
“Earlier today I tweeted something insensitive and offensive,” McCoy posted. “I truly regret my words and want to apologise. I have deleted my tweet and ask that you accept my sincere apology.”
Social media users vehemently opposed his comments and a number of health care workers and journalists came forward to criticise him, saying his statements were “hurtful” and “disgusting”. Some others shared his past pictures, accusing him of travelling during the pandemic.

The finding stems from tracking nearly 3,250 young U.S. Marine recruits between May and October. Of those, 189 had previously tested positive for the SAR-CoV-2 virus. During the six-week study itself, 10% of those who had tested positive got reinfected.
"You don't have a get-out-of-jail-free card just because you have antibodies from a previous infection," said study author Dr. Stuart Sealfon.
He's a professor of neurology at Icahn School of Medicine atMount Sinai in New York City, which conducted the study in collaboration with the Naval Medical Research Center.
The findings were recently published in the preprint server medRXiv and have not been peer-reviewed.
All the Marines were beginning basic training and were initially held in Navy quarantine for two weeks, after two weeks of at-home quarantine, according to the study. Once training began, recruits were tested for COVID-19 every two weeks over a six-week period.
The result: 19 of the 189 recruits who already had COVID tested positive for a second infection during the study.
Researchers said first- and second- infections involved the same strain of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and none involved the new, more transmissible U.K., South African or Brazilian strains that have raised alarm in recent weeks.

I find this sentiment interesting, I wonder what the response would have been if he had also railed against people of color, who are currently in 1b status, priority to get vaccinated ahead of others.

Regarding variants and getting out of this crisis- You would not believe how many families are planning the upcoming Spring Breaks - I am in a local moms group-- going to Disney World in Florida! (I live in Virginia)
No worries about Covid except wondering how packed the planes will be- everyone that has been recently (!) are saying the planes are jammed, only one airline has the middle seat empty, the rest do not.
And...the covidiot families are by and large "just not worried about the pandemic" in their words. They always preface their posts with "don't speak to me about Covid - I know its out there"

What are you talking about? I don't know of any association anywhere of people of color being associated with a 1b level. Or should I assume without a link that this post is just talking hypothetically ?

Planes are packed. Catering to those traveling to vacation spots.
Business travelers are starting to trickle back but facing obstacles. Major routes between large cities that the big 3 airlines (AA, Delta, United) had multiple nonstop flights daily - might have one. And it’s full.
The airport sounds like a huge Chuck E. Cheese.
There’s no way I’d get on any plane going to Orlando. We always called it the Disney Express.
People of color as a distinct category are not included in 1b in my state either. They would have to qualify using the same criteria applied to white people.

Covid-19 Vaccine
- In Phase 1B, COVID-19 vaccines are available to Montanans 70 years of age and older, 16 to 69 years of age with a high-risk medical condition, and American Indians and other persons of color who may be at elevated risk for COVID-19 complications.
NYC, for example, has prioritized some neighborhoods- they are not designated by race, but they are otherwise "underserved" and had a lot of COVID cases:

so the eligibility says by zip code... assume(?) that even in those zip codes, they are still only serving people who are over 65, healthcare workers or have a health issue.
In my state, the statistics show that black and latino people have more COVID and have gotten less vaccinations. I know they have been trying to do specific outreach to get more vaccines to some of these populations.

Thanks for the link! It's based primarily on risks outlined, potentially on a case by case for American Indians and other persons of color and not defined as is on case by case. Good for them, but so difficult perhaps to get a doc sign off/identify what those risks are as I cannot find definition of what would be included in the case by case.

The new recommendations focus on age and specific health conditions. If you’re a teacher16 to 69 years of ageand have one of the following health conditions, you are eligible for 1B. Theseconditions include: Cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), Down Syndrome, heart conditions, immunocompromised state (weakened immune system) from organ transplant, severe obesity, sickle cell disease, and type 1 and 2 diabetes.On a case-by-case basis, medical providers may include individuals with other conditions that place them at elevated risk for COVID-19 related complications. This does include pregnant women. DPHHS recommends pregnant women consult with their medical provider prior to getting the vaccine. I believe it was here, that there was a group of black doctors in a city who did a 24 hour immunization program for underserved folks targeting zip code... it was fabulous read, and one of the highest rates for vaccines in arms... brb if I can find the link

I've said a few times here (I think here?) that if your glasses fog up, that means that the mask you are wearing is not tight to the bridge of the nose. NO filter there and fogs up glasses.
Could it be that SOME folks that wear glasses ALSO have more push to the bridge to seal up that space that I see almost everyone with cloth masks have?
Folks say again and again I was wearing a mask, but unless fitted to the bridge of nose.. it's not filtering much at all?

As I understand, it's pretty much up to the individual states to decide how they prioritize. Some of the decisions may strain ethical boundaries, such as New Jersey prioritizing smokers. Others are trying to push the "disadvantaged" and "marginalized" to the front of the line.
I don't really know what's right or wrong. I know I still haven't been able to get one for my elderly mother (almost 90 years old), and I know that my personal opportunity won't be coming around anytime soon. Kansas.
Are others more deserving than I am because they have less? Or, because of the color of their skin? Or, because they smoke? I don't know -- people make decisions for all sorts of reasons, and I believe most of them honestly think they're doing the right thing.

If you have larger type glasses (more like an aviator style) then it’s easier to get a better “seal” because you can rest your glasses on the mask. I have smaller glasses (more rectangular) and there is a big gap, so I can’t pull the mask up high enough.
I tried a gaitor that I used on the bike and that helped the fog issue.
