So - in these articles posted here - are they saying how many sick people have NOT been vaccinated? I'm curious if anyone of the new sick people have been vaccinated.

We still have to wear masks in doors & on transportation. Outside - no masks required. And I've seen hardly anyone in the stores WITHOUT a mask on. I went to a big mall today - and everyone there had their masks on.

Oh wow. New cases are really jumping. I guess nobody should be surprised by this.
Totally expected with no mask mandates and removal of covid protocols.

So, what's everybody's prediction? Get your bets in now, they won't count at the end of July when the results are coming in.

I think there's an 80% chance right now, that there are going to be significant outbreaks, leading to hospitalizations and deaths, in those communities and States, with low vaccination rates.

And I'm going to go with a 40% chance of something much more widespread. Meaning outbreaks even in states with decent vaccination rates.

I don't need to explain to anyone here, that what we're starting to see now, is directly correlated to the period immediately after the reducing of restrictions in the latter part of June. Next week, and the week after, we're going to see the impact of the July 4th weekend. That's when we'll know if there's an increase in my 40% prediction, meaning a countrywide problem as opposed to a regional one.

Covid is a bear. We've got it cornered, but we're also poking it with a stick repeatedly. We've pretty much given up on the idea of killing or euthanizing it, so we'll continue with the poking method. Stay tuned.
I don't think we cornered the bear. The bear is running wild. And we pretty much gave up on trying to stop it from eating people.

I am not sure where you are, but around here hardly anyone is wearing masks in stores after CDC said masks are not needed for the vaccinated. Considering my state is less than 50% vaccinated, half of the people should be wearing masks but they are clearly not.

I'm in Latvia - Northern Europe - and everyone here compiles with the "rules". :)

There are syringes/needles that once you inject the vaccine or medication, the needle automatically retracts into the syringe. It helps prevents the nurses from accidentally pricking themselves with a “dirty” needle. I used this type when I had to self-administer Lovenox after surgery. I found this type so much safer. After using this style of syringe still mist be discarded in a red box.

oooh yes I get it now ty
I haven't noticed if that's what they do around here

I don't know if this statistic will answer you.
With our numbers being more isolated than other places, sometimes it makes it easier to get accurate stats and see a clear picture.

None of those being treated for the Delta variant in hospital have been fully vaccinated, Dr Kerry Chant has revealed.

Of the 47 people admitted to hospital, 37 are unvaccinated.
Four have received the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine and one has received first dose of Pfizer.
Five of the cases have both doses of the Pfizer, however they are all residents from the Summit Care home who have been admitted for observation and monitoring despite being asymptomatic.

Welcome, HeraldBlack. :)

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we are likely going to be here with this pandemic for a very long time. I will spare you the book I’m itching to write on this, the reasons why I say this, but be prepared, because my book is coming.

UA College of Medicine-Phoenix Students Possibly Exposed To COVID-19
more at link
The University of Arizona’s College of Medicine in Phoenix has informed students and staff they may have been exposed to COVID-19 during an orientation event last week. In a Monday email, the college said a vaccinated individual became symptomatic during new student orientation last week and later tested positive for COVID.

The college is unsure how many students and staff are impacted, but advises them to assume they were exposed. The college also sent recommendations of self-isolation and quarantine for vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals.

Protecting the health and wellbeing of our students, faculty, staff, colleagues and community is our top priority," the college said in a statement to KJZZ. "We will continue to monitor the situation."

Under an executive order by Gov. Doug Ducey, the college can’t require COVID mitigation strategies such as vaccination, testing or mask wearing. Lawmakers also included these policies into the state budget that they passed last month.

I'm in Ontario. People are still wearing masks in stores and when distancing isn't possible, according to the public health recommendations. 79% of adults have had at least one shot, and half have been fully vaccinated. Opening up has been attached to the vaccination rate and the number of cases. There is no way that too many people who have not been vaccinated can be trusted to wear masks when the vaccinated don't have to. So I'm content to continue wearing masks until our vaccination rates are higher and ditching the masks will be safe for all.

I'm in the US, and mask wearing has drastically decreased since the CDC came out with the guidance that vaccinated people do not need to wear masks.
I was in a convenience store the other day, where I was the only one of 15-20 people who was wearing a mask.

Yep, I am observing the exact same thing. Like I said, my state is less than 50% vaccinated, so half of the people should be wearing masks (and they obviously don't).

Here is another stat for you ... from UK that has a high vaccination rate. (Primarily AZ vaccinated, I believe.)

About 10% of their Delta cases have been vaccinated. It doesn't say how many are actually sick or if some are asymptomatic, just that they have tested positive.

Since Feb 2021 ..... "In total, 4,087 tested positive more than two weeks after their second dose. Meanwhile, 35,521 people who were unvaccinated tested positive for the Delta variant"
Fact Check-Claim that vaccinated people are six times more likely to die from the Delta variant than those who are unvaccinated is misleading

Same here.

The CDC said "fully vaccinated" people didn't have to wear masks, and suddenly no one is wearing them.

If 50% or fewer are vaccinated, I'm not sure why we're not seeing about 50% still masking.

I would bet that many (all?) of those people who are still masking up are vaccinated.

They should make a little badge for people to wear. "I am vaccinated and still masking up, because you won't"

For Some Vaccinated People, Masks Remain Comforting

I think this is probably true. These are the ones who have been paying attention and taking precautions from the start. I've worn my mask when I entered a crowded store, just to be on the safe side.

There's kind of a "shaming" reversal now that I've sensed, however. For many months most people masked and if someone didn't, others might look at them in a judgemental fashion. Now, I've felt the same sort of looks coming my way if I wear my mask. As if I'm doing something wrong.

I think the CDC jumped the gun and I'm afraid it could have disastrous consequences.

Because nobody checks vaccination status. And anti-maskers are also anti-vaxxers (in general). So why would one expect them to wear masks?
