Do you guys have an APP to record any test results or symptoms etc?

We have the NHS one (controversial at the mo due to the amount of self isolation alert "pings" it sends - it's a legal requirement if you get one) and also the Zoe APP which records symptoms etc for the science guys.
Not that I know of.

You can get tested if you want (and have insurance). I went and got tested for free (insurance presumably will pay for it)-mine was negative. You can also order rapid tests.
But the government isn't sending us free tests-so likely a lot of people with mild or no symptoms don't even realize they are infected.

Those are pics of one million Pfizer doses arriving in Australia overnight.
From now, we are supposed to get one million doses every week! :)

Below the YouTube video of Dr. Gottlieb's interview on Face the Nation is this paragraph:

Former FDA commissioner Scott Gottlieb said the Delta variant is "far more advanced" than other COVID-19 strains, and "for most people who get this Delta variant, it's going to be the most serious virus they get in their lifetime in terms of risk of putting them in the hospital."

Dr. Gottlieb makes a point-we are likely missing a lot of infections because we basically only test people who either have serious symptoms or obvious covid symptoms such as loss of smell and taste. We don't do a lot of baseline testing like some other countries do.
So as high as our reported numbers are, they actual numbers could be 10-fold higher. Yikes.

The whole video is worth watching, only about 7 minutes long. Dr. Gottlieb points out that getting covid during pregnancy is dangerous, and women should be vaccinated to protect themselves and their babies. I didn't get the exact quote, he talks pretty fast. There is a V-safe study underway with data from more than 100,000 pregnant women that is showing that being vaccinated leads to better pregnancy outcomes. More info at: COVID-19 Vaccination

He also recommends N-95 masks if you want a mask that will protect you (if it fits you properly).

I am just exhausted by this virus. As an elderly couple with a small restaurant in California, it just never seems to stop. Let me tell you, the tax agencies are going after small businesses with a vengeance.
Daily we are receiving certified mail from these agencies demanding ridiculous amounts of money and penalties.
Yesterday's mail was for $3,800. For our sales tax, second quarter of 2020. Threatening to garnish our bank account. We were shut down by government then.
Yes, we missed some of that payment but not the amount they want.
I'm spending hours on hold to talk to anyone.
We did not take out a Covid-19 loan. We're old school. We paid cash to build our restaurant.
The Only government agency to give us a grant (no strings attached) was from President Donald Trump. $8,000.00. Which was a lifesaver at the time.
All these "loans" from our government come with tons of conditions to have them forgiven. Scary to us.
I have no idea what's going to happen this fall and winter.
I seriously don't want to ride that roller coaster.

I immediately thought no...but I guess the "rapid tests" are the same...
I think we should all be learning more about these in the US.
Do we know for sure that they are free everywhere?
Easy to get?
I am hoping some "rapid test users" will chime in here.

It depends on how your state or locality decided to use their allocation of federal money from the CARES Act. The Covid Relief Fund sent billions of dollars to states and localities to spend on economic relief and PPE, including testing. The governor of the state where I live decided to try to get the rapid antigen tests for Covid into the hands of as many residents as possible, so they distributed these home tests to our pubic library system in each of the counties in Ohio and made them available for free. You can also buy them at the local drugstore. There are probably other sites that make them available, county health departments, etc. Depends on how your state decided to spend the PPE money from the feds.

Hopes new COVID vaccine supplies will kickstart national rollout

Excellent news! I've been reading about low vaccination levels and new outbreaks/lockdowns. I wondered about supply issues.

Good to hear that supplies are arriving. Hopefully most people can get their second shot 28 days after the first shot. That's the recommended timeline. Due to supply delays, some countries (including Canada) have extended the time between shots to four months and recommended mixing vaccines. No one really knows how effective the vaccination is after politicians alter scientific recommendations.

"Vaccinated tourists will not be allowed to enter Israel on August 1, as had been previously planned, Health Ministry Director-General Prof. Nachman Ash said Sunday, also announcing that the authorities will discuss measures to restrict all travel.

“We are postponing the date for the entry of tourists; it is not going to happen on August 1,” he said, adding that a new date has not been set. “Unfortunately, the current situation does not permit us to allow tourists to enter.”

The director-general also warned the public that with the Delta variant raging around the world, this is not a time to fly abroad. He said the authorities are examining how to restrict travel, either by expanding the list of countries under the travel ban or severe travel warning, or by other means.

Channel 12 reported that health official are considering several options for a recommendation to bring before the cabinet, including shutting the airport for non essential traveling and requiring all travelers to enter isolation regardless of their immunization status and the country they fly from. However, according to the report, the most likely recommendation will be to significantly expand the list of countries under travel ban or travel warning - in both cases all returnees have to quarantine, for the first group Israelis are prohibited from visiting unless they obtain a permission from the devoted special governmental committee."

Australia to deport Britain's Katie Hopkins after quarantine breach

What an idiot. Does she think a public health crisis is a huge joke?

She's gone now. They sent her back to the UK on a plane a couple of hours ago.

Ms Hopkins was sent back to Britain on a Monday afternoon flight.
"Well, she's clearly not someone that we want to keep in this country for a second longer than we have to," Ms Andrews said.

"To think she could think the measures we are taking to keep our community safe can be treated with such juvenile, imbecilic behaviour is mind-boggling," Mr Hazzard told reporters in Sydney.
"To think that she thinks it is acceptable to put our staff at risk, and to put our broader community at risk, is completely abhorrent."

My niece was able to book her shots today. Now that supplies are here and will keep coming every week. First shot 14th August, second one on 4th September. :)

The first influx of Pfizer vaccines is going to Sydney and to our state of Victoria, as they are struggling a bit at the moment (they are both in lockdowns). Then they will start dispersing them to the rest of us after that.

Well done! From your link (below). Thankfully some countries take this seriously. I've always thought that Islands fare best in global catastrophes - although supply can be an issue.

"Ms Hopkins was brought to Australia by Network Seven to join its reality television program Big Brother. But she was dumped from the show after boasting about deliberating breaking hotel quarantine rules.

Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews described the behaviour as shameful and cancelled Ms Hopkins' visa. ...

"It was a slap in the face for all those Australians who are currently in lockdown and it's just unacceptable behaviour," Ms Andrews said. "So personally, I'm very pleased she'll be leaving." ...

Questions have been raised over how Ms Hopkins was allowed into the country. She has described migrants as cockroaches, labelled Islam repugnant and called for a "final solution" in response to a terror attack. During a round of television interviews, the home affairs minister was repeatedly pressed on how Ms Hopkins was deemed a person of good character.
