Fallout Boy pulls out of Fenway concert after member tests positive for COVID-19

Guns and Roses just played to probably a packed Fenway on Tuesday o_O:rolleyes:
Who thinks this is a good idea???? Omg people.

Our nation is beyond hope when it comes to containing the virus. Those who are not vaccinated, and even some who are, are at risk because our country doesn't take it seriously. Concerts, motorcycle rallies, no one is quarantining--even if they're sick.

Migrants are coming by the hundreds of thousands, and they're being transported to communities BEFORE they're ever tested. 1500 tested positive in just a 7-day period in 0ne town, but they're not quarantined.

Our government is not going to help us stop this virus. Hospitals are filling up again. Our best hope seems to be a Delta booster, but that's not an option yet.

Typically, I'm a pretty positive person, but all these things are starting to get to me.

I don't know why the border force are allowing the migrants in.

With the number of migrants crossing the southern border surging and the pandemic proving to be far from over, the Biden administration has decided to leave in place for now the public health rule that has allowed it to turn away hundreds of thousands of migrants, officials said.

Despite the public health rule, many migrant families have been allowed to enter the United States this year. The administration has been able to enforce the rule in some areas of the border but not others, such as South Texas

The Border Patrol says it has insufficient time and space to conduct coronavirus testing at crowded processing stations.

U.S. advises against travel to Greece, Ireland, Iran, U.S. Virgin Islands

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned on Monday against travel to Greece, Ireland, Iran, the U.S. Virgin Islands and other destinations because of a rising number of COVID-19 cases in those places.

Other locations being raised to the CDC's "Level 4: Avoid Travel" include Libya, Kazakhstan, Andorra, Saint Barthelemy, Lesotho, Martinique, Malta, the Isle of Man and Curacao, the CDC said.

Similarly, the State Department on Monday raised its advisories to "Level 4 – Do Not  Travel" for destinations including Curacao, the French West Indies, Greece, Ireland, Kazakhstan and the Marshall Islands.

New COVID variants Epsilon, Lambda may be resistant to vaccines, early lab studies show

The Epsilon and Lambda variants of COVID-19 are “variants of interest,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and early studies show they have developed a resistance to vaccines.

Japanese researchers found the Lambda variant, which was initially discovered in Peru and is now spreading throughout South America, is highly transmissible and more resistant to vaccines than the initial COVID-19 strain.

The researchers warned in a paper posted July 28 that has yet to be peer reviewed that Lambda’s label as a “variant of interest” instead of a “variant of concern” might downplay the growing threat of the strain.

Meanwhile, the Epsilon variant that was initially discovered in California in 2020 is spreading in Pakistan and is proving to be resistant to vaccines, according to researchers.

Some medical procedures delayed as COVID-19 surge threatens Bexar County hospital capacity

As the COVID-19 risk level in Bexar County worsens, officials plan to issue an emergency alert “to make sure as many area residents as possible realize that Metro Health now assesses our COVID-19 threat level as severe.”

Bexar County officials reported a seven-day average of 1,146 new COVID-19 cases a day, a 58% increase from the number reported last week which was 724. Hospitalizations rose 32%, from 695 reported on Thursday to 920 reported on Tuesday. Of those hospitalized, 88% were not vaccinated, which dropped from 95% last week.

The virus also appears to be affecting more children. At Christus Health’s Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, pediatric COVID-19 hospitalizations took up 10% of available. Four pediatric COVID-19 patients, including one who is only 4-years-old, are on ventilators fighting for their lives and there are also children on ventilators with RSV, which has seen an unusual spike this summer.

DHS: 491 virus cases could be tied to NBA Championship Bucks' run

Officials say 491 people with confirmed or probable cases said they had attended the Deer District or a Milwaukee Bucks game "during their exposure or infectious periods.''

In addition to the games, tens of thousands of fans packed the Deer District to cheer on the Bucks last month.

"We have four times as many people hospitalized with COVID in Wisconsin as we did one month ago, from 74 individuals to 310 today,'' said Dr. Ben Weston, director of medical services at the Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management.

COVID cases soar 139%. See how your state is doing

As of Tuesday, August 3, the average number of new daily cases over the past week was 92,005—levels not seen since February, before COVID vaccines were widely available in the U.S.—and up 139% from two weeks ago.

Of any state, Wisconsin has had the biggest surge, with cases there up more than 330%.

Meanwhile, South Carolina’s cases are up 291% in the past 14 days.

In Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Texas, Oregon, Maryland, North Dakota, Tennessee, Georgia, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, new cases are up more than 200%.

The U.S. this week finally hit President Joe Biden’s goal of at least 70% of U.S. adults getting at least one COVID-19 shot—a month after his deadline. But in some states, including Alabama and Louisiana, less than 40% of all residents are fully vaccinated.

States with the highest percentages of their entire populations vaccinated include Vermont (67.7%) and Massachusetts (64.1%).

Americans need to be vaccinated before entering Canada. I'm not sure that there is any reason to come to Canada for a vaccination since the US had an earlier start to their vaccine program and there is no shortage of vaccines in the US.

But, if there was a need, yes, an unvaccinated American in Canada could get a vaccine at a mass clinic.

true on getting first two doses earlier. But there is so much chatter on wanting the booster before the protection from the first two shots wain.

Here, in Florida, we watched planes coming in from all over the world to get the vaccine in the beginning.
I could see the same thing in Canada, unless they prohibit on some grounds....

THIS is what DeSantis is touting as the "good news"...

As for deaths, Florida’s toll is up fourfold over four weeks, according to New York Times data – from an average of 15 a day to 58. That’s “only” a third of the death rate at the peak of the past two waves.
Some of you might die, but this a sacrifice I am willing to make-he should use that as his slogan.

Wow... I just took a huge gasp of air!!! STURGIS is coming around again!!! And that area of the country has not experienced what is all over the South right now....

geeezzz..
But think on the bright side-those who don't die will have natural immunity.

Not to mention, "11,515 people in hospital with COVID-19 ... the Florida Hospital Association says 96 per cent of its patients are unvaccinated."

Globe editorial: Florida is cautionary COVID-19 tale. Here’s what Canada can learn from it

Yes, it's freaking cold. Nobody comes to Canada. That's why we don't need to spend billions on defence and why we can afford a publicly funded health care system.

Well, DH and I spent much of our honeymoon in Canada, a loooong time ago. I was disappointed to find that Lake Louise was frozen and didn't look like the photos I'd seen. :D

Isle of Man? wow...
