Israel now requires everyone over THREE to show proof of Covid vaccination or a negative test | Daily Mail Online

Covid restrictions have been extended to three-year-olds in Israel, with the country now 'at war' with the Delta variant.

From today, everyone over the age of three in the country must show evidence of being vaccinated or a negative test before entering restaurants, cafes, gyms and other indoor spaces.

The country — praised for its world-leading vaccination drive, which has seen two-thirds of adults get double-jabbed — is in the midst of a third wave that shows no signs of slowing.

Health chiefs have warned the nation faces another draconian lockdown unless the situation improves.

The situation will leave Britain, the US and other countries relying on vaccines to thwart the virus nervous.

Daily coronavirus infections reached a six-month high of 8,752 on Monday, before falling slightly on Tuesday. Deaths are also rising, with 120 people dying in the last week — similar to levels seen in September, when Israel was in lockdown.

Cases started to spiral at the end of July, when health chiefs announced all over-60s would be offered a booster dose five months after getting their second.

Israel only uses Pfizer's jab and insists immunity has already began to fade, echoing concerns raised by the drug company itself.

Very worrying that Pfizer only seems to be lasting a few months before needing a top up. It is thought Moderna lasts longer but I believe the initial doses were larger/stronger?

It will be interesting to see how the non-mRNA vaccines turn out in terms of longevity.

That is a huge number of unvaccinated people working in LTC. It's hard for me to fathom. But it wouldn't stop me from supporting a mandate to vaccinate all workers, even if doing so risks a large number of employees quitting their jobs. If mandates are too difficult, then financial, or other incentives may work. If all mandates and incentives fail, and workers move on to other types of work, then pray that the employee shuffle is quick. People unwilling to be vaccinated should not be in jobs where they work with other humans.

Workers at LTC in these parts must be vaccinated, and if they are not, they have to be tested every day... that's every day ... wear full PPE at all times and not work directly with the elderly. That can get tiresome.

Nothing is going to motivate people more than making things difficult for them to not be vaccinated. I've listened to them talk online and they are all convinced that if they just refuse that companies will have to give in. They are going to have to stand their ground on not allowing batshit crazy conspiracy theories actually controlling the state of public health or the quality of care some of our most vulnerable population receive.

1:20 p.m. The University of Winnipeg, the University of Manitoba and Red River College say they are making COVID-19 vaccination a requirement for people to come back to campuses for the fall term this September.

The University of Winnipeg says in a news release that a recent survey of its staff and students shows about 80 per cent of faculty and 72 per cent of students who participated support a vaccination mandate.

The University of Manitoba says it will work with people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons and those who request a compromise on other grounds.

Red River College says anyone returning to campus must have a first dose by Sept. 10 and a second dose by Oct. 17.

All 37,000-plus City of Toronto employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by Oct. 30, with limited “accommodations” under human rights legislation for those who aren’t, Mayor John Tory announced Thursday.

“The City of Toronto has a duty as an employer to do everything that it can to ensure that our work environment is safe for all of our employees,” Tory said at a news conference Thursday. “Protecting our employees from COVID-19 as best we can helps to protect them and their families and loved ones, and very important as well, it helps protect members of the public who our employees interact with on a daily basis.”

Tory said all members of the city’s public service will be required to disclose and provide proof of vaccination status by Sept. 13.

There is no mystery here. No timeline to work out.
We don't approve a vaccine until we have it in our hands, so it can go through our own TGA's testing.

I think I posted for you (with relevant quotes) on the vaccine thread a little while ago, we were held up because Australia and NZ were put to the back of the vaccine queue because "we were doing so well".

It was our reward for locking down, not travelling, and trying so hard.

If we got the vaccines we ordered and paid for shortly after we ordered and paid for them - and at least when other countries got their orders - we likely would not be in the position that we are in now.

Thank you. I understand. That is true of all countries - that if they received the vaccines when they paid for them, everyone would have been better protected. As it stands, there were manufacturing delays, which resulted in delivery delays even in Canada. I think that payment dates are a factor, such that countries that paid first received the vaccine first.

Absolutely 150% agree with you: Anyone that has patient contact in a medical setting , be it LTC, a physician's office, a hospital, or other medical related jobs, must be vaccinated. To expose patients to the virus is absolutely unacceptable and downright dangerous.

Yup. I was in the hospital a few days and nights and relied on the entire staff to be vaccinated because I wasn't. Scary finding out I was being admitted when I hadn't even been vaccinated with the first shot. Luckily I was protected by the hospital staff having been vaccinated.

Your experience is a perfect example of why hospital
personnel must be vaccinated, both for protection of
patients and to protect themselves

Companies that provide home health/home hospice care are already struggling with staffing. Imagine going with your last choice company to provide care.

Missouri Lawmaker’s Unvaccinated Husband Dies From COVID-19 — The Daily Beast

“Missouri state Rep. Sara Walsh announced Thursday that her husband has died from COVID-19. They were both unvaccinated and contracted the coronavirus earlier this month. “It saddens my heart to share that this morning my best friend and beloved husband Steve Walsh was welcomed to Heaven’s glory into the arms of Jesus Christ his Lord and Savior. Arrangements pending. Thank you to everyone who has lifted us up in prayer,” the Republican lawmaker tweeted. Walsh, who announced her candidacy for for U.S. Rep. Vicky Hartzler’s congressional seat last month, has said she refused to get the COVID-19 jab because it has yet to be approved by the FDA, some of her friends had adverse reactions, and she’s remained healthy throughout the pandemic. She did not specify why her husband—Hartzler’s spokesperson—declined to get the vaccine.”

An Alabama doctor is reportedly refusing to treat unvaccinated patients, tells them to get COVID shot because he 'can't watch them die'

Alabama Physician Tells Patients Get Vaccinated Or Find A New Doctor

An Alabama doctor is taking a bold stance in the efforts to get more people vaccinated against COVID-19.

Dr. Jason Valentine, a physician at Mobile’s Diagnostic and Medical Clinic Infirmary Health, posted a photo on his Facebook page showing him posed next to a sign that says “effective Oct. 1, 2021, Dr. Valentine will no longer see patients that are not vaccinated against COVID-19.”

  • Dr. Jason Valentine warned patients that some who refuse the shot "end up severely ill or dead."
  • Since he took his stance, he said patients have reached out asking where they can get the vaccine.

Valentine wrote that three unvaccinated patients asked where they could get a vaccine.

“No conspiracy theories, no excuses. Just where do they go,” he added.

Valentine had a blunt answer for those who asked him about his decision.

“If they asked why, I told them COVID is a miserable way to die and I can’t watch them die like that,” he wrote.

If patients still refuse to get the vaccine, Valentine said in a letter to his patients, they should seek care elsewhere. According to AL.com, he posted a copy of the letter online.

"We do not yet have any great treatments for severe disease, but we do have great prevention with vaccines. Unfortunately, many have declined to take the vaccine, and some end up severely ill or dead," Valentine said in the letter. "I cannot and will not force anyone to take the vaccine, but I also cannot continue to watch my patients suffer and die from an eminently preventable disease."

"Therefore, as of October 1st, 2021, I will no longer see patients that have not been vaccinated against COVID-19. If you wish to keep me as your physician, documentation of your vaccination will suffice. If you wish to choose another physician, we will be happy to transfer your records," he concluded.

I hope he's just saying that to encourage them to get the shot, because I don't think it's okay for a doctor not to treat someone just because they don't want to see them die. I mean, if a doctor can't take seeing people die, I think think he's in the wrong profession.

ETA: My mistake. I thought he was refusing to treat them if they were dying, but he's just saying that he doesn't want to treat them now if they don't care enough to get the shot.

Got it!

And now a third member of the Senate says he has COVID-19. Just today, Senators Angus King of Maine, Roger Wicker of Mississippi, and John Hickenlooper of Colorado have tested positive.

Alabama has no available ICU beds while thousands of students quarantine in New Orleans and Florida - CNN

No ICU beds are left in the entire state of Alabama, the Alabama Hospital Association told CNN on Tuesday.

I’m 4000 miles away but headlines like this are stressing me out. How have they got to capacity so fast? Did they send out prior warnings about bed shortages? What if there’s a big traffic accident, or shooting, or natural disaster, what happens to those people?

I know not all Americans follow UK news, but it’s been very obvious for about 3 months now that Delta is way more contagious than previous variants and that it’s mainly affecting the unvaccinated. Plenty of warning.
