You would think they would have allowed these shelter dogs to be rescued. They shot them instead. Absolutely sickening.

15 rescue dogs, including 10 puppies, killed by council in Australia over COVID-19 concerns

A local government in the state of New South Wales in Australia faced criticism after reports surfaced they ordered 15 dogs killed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among shelter workers.

On Sunday, The Sydney Morning Herald reported the Bourke Shire Council, located in the northern part of New South Wales, shot and killed 15 impounded dogs so volunteers at another shelter wouldn't travel to pick up the animals. Of the 15 dogs, 10 were puppies, and one had just given birth to a litter.

Well, that is quite sickening.

NSW Premier flags new freedoms for vaccinated residents

Fully-vaccinated New South Wales residents are set to enjoy new freedoms in September, Premier Gladys Berejiklian has flagged.

It comes after the state has hit a milestone of six million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered.

The Premier will make a formal announcement on Thursday or Friday.

My state has agreed to be the first to trial home quarantine. They are starting with people they are allowing to come home who have been in NSW and Vic. If successful, they will move on to allow international returnees to quarantine at home.

They apparently have technology - an app - that allows them to monitor the home quarantiners. Involves facial recognition and geolocation (GPS).

It is all part of the plan to start opening the borders and living with covid, in the safest way that we can. (As you know, there's lots of debate about that.)

I did hear the police commissioner say that the home quarantining will be on a selective basis. They are not going to allow everybody to do it ... they will somehow gauge whether a person is in a situation to successfully home quarantine.

"“It must be reiterated this is a trial, and the outcomes and lessons learnt from it will be foremost amongst any decision to continue or expand it,” he said."

Jennifer Caputo-Seidler is a doctor at Tampa General Hospital and said 12 floors had been converted to makeshift covid wards, with more space urgently needed.

Latest estimates indicate 17,000 are hospitalised with Covid-19 in Florida, with half of those in ICU.

Palm Beach County is one of the state’s most populated region and 20 per cent of its residents are now infected with Covid-19.

At the weekend, federal authorities deployed hundreds of ventilators to hospitals across Florida.

Dr Caputo-Seidler said she and her colleagues are making dozens of calls a day to the loved ones of patients who “we don’t think … are going to survive this”.

“We’re putting multiple patients on ventilators every day. We’re doing CPR on patients younger than me in a desperate attempt to save their life.”

Startlingly, Dr Caputo-Seidler revealed that “almost all of our patients are unvaccinated”.

Oh yes I heard this on ABC News Radio yesterday.

I was getting worried at how much people were going to be charged to isolate in motels etc, and wondering how many would struggle to pay the costs. Not sure if that was only in some states.

Maybe isolating at home would be better all around, less costly and more confortable, and less stressful.

Why do so many unvaccinated people think they will be able to "manage the virus just fine" if infected?

Perhaps because they managed the flu "just fine" or managed chicken pox "just fine."

Or managed "just fine" a whole host of other ailments and infections.

Unvaccinated I never was arrogant enough to think I could sail through a case of Covid.

Why do people think the deaths and ventilators only happen to others?

I don't know, but that's a major reason I hear from those who choose not to get the vaccine. They're playing the odds. I just hope they don't lose.

It'll be interesting to see how that works. I didn't think facial recognition was to the point where it could scout out and find someone in a crowd with much success.

There's a movement to ban facial recognition in the States based on the idea it's racist in nature. That's a long story, so I won't go into it, but you can find out about it online. That may not apply in your state.

Quarantining at home (or anywhere) hasn't worked here, because too many simply won't comply. As usual.

If it's going to work anywhere, it's most likely to be Australia.

COVID-sickened passenger reportedly died amid Vista outbreak

My mind is blown: how could any person with one brain cell think that cruising amid a Delta viral outbreak is a good idea! First of all, I don't think the cruise ships should even be doing business right now-- We now know that Delta is breaking thru vaccines--- with that knowledge how could anyone go on a cruise with hundreds of other people?

It's such a risk. I'm guessing when we thought things were looking up people bought cruise tickets and now they might not be able to get their money back.

Still, I think I'd rather lose the cost of a ticket than my health--or life.

I think that many people think "they wouldn't have the event/activity/whatever if it wasn't safe".

That cruise lines wouldn't offer cruise tickets if cruises weren't safe, that the former president wouldn't have rallies if attendance wasn't safe, that DeSantis wouldn't outlaw mask restrictions if it wasn't safe to go without masks, that DisneyWorld would not be open if going to a crowded theme park wasn't safe, that bars wouldn't be open to all if going to a crowded bar wasn't safe.

They put a lot of trust in people and organisations who want to somehow profit, regardless of the safety aspect.

Several of our friends are planning on going on an Alaska cruise in a few weeks, and invited us. The prices are rock bottom. The ships don't port in British Columbia, just Seattle to Alaska.

I have zero desire to be locked on a ship. Needless to say, we declined.

China uses it. Their new passports have a chip embedded that allows for facial recognition, sometimes when you go through customs the customs officer will ask you to tilt your head slightly, it has to do with the technology.

Edited for grammar and typo

Instead of listening to internet advice about a livestock dewormer, pay attention to the medical professionals.

The FDA has warned for months that ivermectin can be unsafe and has said that it has “received multiple reports of patients who have required medical support and been hospitalized after self-medicating with ivermectin intended for horses and cows."

He knew that COVID had claimed the lives of more than 600,000 people in the U.S. alone. But he thought he was too tough to become one of them.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted full approval to the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for people age 16 and older.

The vaccine will be marketed as Comirnaty, the FDA said in its announcement on Monday

"the public can be confident that this vaccine meets the FDA's gold standard for safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality that we require for an approved product"

US fully approves Pfizer vaccine, now branded Comirnaty

IMO, that weird brand name pretty much guarantees that people will continue to call it "the Pfizer vaccine." Maybe that's the goal?

Are we overreacting to COVID by keeping our son home for school? Spoiler alert, we're not.

Pretend people are getting sick from bad chicken

Think of it this way: Peloton recalled treadmills in May after one child died and there were more than 70 reports of injuries. Tysons Foods recalled nearly 9 million pounds of product after a handful of people got sick and one died.

Did you know that there was a nationwide shrimp recall after only nine people got sick since November? Where are the protests over our rights to eat whatever we want regardless of the dangers it poses?

New Zealand sees highest increase in Covid since April 2020 a day after 'unfathomable' lockdown | Daily Mail Online

New Zealand on Tuesday recorded its highest increase in COVID-19 cases since April 2020, just one day after Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern extended the country's tough Covid lockdown.

Director General of Health Ashley Bloomfield reported 41 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the total infections in the country to 148, and warned the outbreak of the highly infectious Delta variant would be like dealing with a whole new virus.

'Delta is unlike our previous experience. It is, as we know, highly infectious and transmissible and, as we have seen, spreads rapidly,' he said.

The South Pacific nation's virus-free run since February ended last week after an outbreak of the Delta variant erupted in Auckland, New Zealand's largest city, and quickly spread to the capital Wellington.

So far, eight people associated with the current outbreak are in hospital.

On Monday Ardern's decision to extend the lockdown was criticised by her opposition as 'unfathomable'.

I was watching a show tonight called The Hundred (Ch9).

It is kind of a fun show where they have 100 random people from all over the country on zoom - all adult ages - and a few celebrities asking them questions. More or less a poll. This percentage has done this, this percentage thinks that, this percentage has had this happen to them, etc etc. Lots of fun questions, and some serious ones.

One of the questions tonight was did they approve of lockdowns. 83% responded that they did approve.

Israel's COVID-19 vaccine boosters show signs of taming Delta

JERUSALEM, Aug 24 (Reuters) - Less than a month into a COVID-19 vaccine booster drive, Israel is seeing signs of an impact on the country's high infection and severe illness rates fuelled by the fast-spreading Delta variant, officials and scientists say.

It goes back to lack of critical thinking skills- thinking things thru for yourself.
