Shoreline quarantine site ID'd for healthy people exposed to coronavirus

A secure state-owned facility in Shoreline, Washington has been identified as a potential quarantine site for healthy people who may have been exposed to the coronavirus.

Healthy people who have traveled from Hubei Province, China, could be sent to this quarantine spot. The people who would stay in the quarantine area would not be sick. If anyone in quarantine became ill with symptoms consistent with novel coronavirus, they would be evaluated and removed from the site

DOH has established a call center to address questions from the public. Anyone with questions about what is happening in Washington state regarding how the mandatory quarantine works, how the virus is spread, and what to do if you have symptoms, may call 1-800-525-0127 and press #.

It seems you can just breathe in someones direction this seems to be highly highly contagious that's is what is so scary .

IMO
I totally agree that this Coronavirus seems very very very contagious. And the other main thing that has been concerning me about it, is that it appears you can get very very very sick from it even if we throw out a death fear. So irregardless of the mortality rate, nobody wants to catch this and get knocked out of commission from it. It sounds terrible to be sick from this.

We have not seen many interviews of people who have caught it, were hospitalized, finally got better, and released. I suspect breathing issues and pneumonia type lung issues are common with this. I would like to see more interviews of the ones that had gotten sick from it to hear them describe the severity of their symptoms.

The other thought I have been having is about why this outbreak is going to be so difficult to try to reduce is because, at its onset,
it is very hard to distinguish this between the regular Flu without doing a formal test for it.
So it does make me wonder how many just stayed home and never got checked out because they thought they just had a bad flu. By the time they realized it was something worse than a flu, they may have infected their family members and/or friends.

As we've seen on the threads, when the WHO/CDC/health officials come on board, they may be interviewing cabin mates that have travelled or are travelling with family.

My grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr is that MSM is right now doing inflammatory remarks to spark stuff that we later understand through WHO and CDC and others, which then we look back and say "ahhhhhhhhhh, ok, that makes sense". The reason they may have asked him/her is that he was part of a group and they just wanted to clarify.

Not sure of your comment about non-Chinese who have travelled and not refusing to let them board. Don't understand what you're trying to relay, sorry. When interviewing in a group setting, they do small amounts vs. many... is that what you are referring to "isolating them in a herd". That is standard best practice... do in small groups.

As to your ETA #2, again not clear on what you are saying/asking. Perhaps the past day findings of the ship that went to 7 ports before 61 folks were affected comes into play as to their questions. Just not clear on what your comment means/asking/implies.

RL calls....

A Chinese National says he was held with a bunch of other chinese people even though he had not been to China in the last three years. He said it was based on his nationality alone. And that that put him at risk for getting it because he was held with people who HAD travelled there.

The cruise line stated they would not allow people with Chinese/Hong Kong/Macau passports to travel on their ships. If they haven’t been to China/Hong Kong/Macau in the last few weeks how is that anything but discriminatory? Some Chinese nationals live elsewhere and now could be unable to complete a cruise and have to pay for alternate travel arrangements or not be able to cruise because the ship believes viruses understand nationality.

I know you’re busy but when you get a chance let me know if I’m misunderstanding!!

It must be legal as they would of gotten legal advice before making such a sweeping action.

I was worried about this, me avoiding all Asian food deliveries is not the same as actually quarantining someone with sick people because of their race, that is frightening and wrong.

Nah. Just because they took sweeping action doesn't mean it was legal. It can't be discriminatory. Large businesses get sued all the time.

Medical experts have warned the coronavirus can spread through the eyes and people – especially doctors – aren’t doing enough to protect themselves.

According to a report in The Lancet, a peer-reviewed medical journal, Chinese pneumonia expert Guangfa Wang was infected by the 2019-nCoV virus while visiting Wuhan last month.

He wore a face mask during his visit, but did not wear any protective eyewear and later complained of “redness of the eyes”.

“As ophthalmologists, we believe that transmission of 2019-nCoV through the eyes was ignored,” the report said.

“Unprotected exposure of the eyes to 2019-nCoV in the Wuhan Fever Clinic might have allowed the virus to infect the body.”

I wish the flu could have been contained like they are attempting with this. I’ve had it many times, but two very serious times still make me cringe just thinking about it. I already contend with an autoimmune disease that makes me pretty miserable most days. So, yeah, for me, I don’t care that it may “only” be about as deadly as the flu. I live in fear of getting the flu and/or pneumonia every year. My body tends to suffer more than, say, my husband’s with the exact same illness. I just don’t want more crap out there that could put me in the depths of misery for weeks - all because I scratched my nose after touching a shopping cart or something.

Boy, if the people in Wuhan were not already afraid, now they definitely will be. I cannot imagine the fear they will have when that knock comes on their door.

I have to now assume the officials are going to mistakingly send many healthy people to these internment camps. Because we already know there is no immediate test that can prove one has it, so if all they are using are fever checks, etc., what if someone had just got done working out or just took a hot shower, and so their temperature may be high when that knock comes on the door.

This is awful. Last week I saw a video where officials there were allegedly welding bars across an apartment complex door to lock people inside and you could hear residents screaming at them from above. With these new measures, I suspect there will be lots more yelling and unrest as the officials begin forcibly removing people against their will. And likely some of them will be perfectly healthy people.

Notice the official threatening the people with shame too. My understanding is national pride is a big cultural thing in areas like that. So with that threat of shame, the people there will take the threat very seriously IMO.

"A top Chinese official has ordered authorities where the coronavirus originated to go house-to-house and send those infected to quarantine internment camps"

"Sun ordered medical workers to go door-to-door to move any of those infected, with force, if necessary, to makeshift quarantine camps that include a convention center and other converted buildings"

"Set up a 24-hour duty system. During these wartime conditions, there must be no deserters, or they will be nailed to the pillar of historical shame forever,” Sun said on Thursday."

Just be glad you live in the western world and this would never be allowed to happen here.

Exactly.

On another well known News Youtuber I follow, there has been so many comments downplaying it and brushing it off like having the flu, but I dont want to get sick from any of it. The flu makes you so sick you can basically do nothing except take care of yourself until you get better. From headaches, fevers, breathing problems from the thick mucous in the lungs, the chills, sore throat, coughing like a madman, hacking and spitting up all kinds of sticky thick mucuous, etc.

Its all bad and almost makes you want to die.

China:
2841 new cases
80 new deaths

Anyone have the figures side by side to compare the past several days?
