Could Lee Anthony face charges for obstruction of justice?

I've said this before and I will say it again: This family is setting up to plead the 5th so they do not have to testify at casey's trial. Nowhere have I seen any LE or state attorney even HINT at possible charges against any of the family members, but firts, the Anthony's attorney hints at possible charges and then, LA gets an attorney and hints at possible charges. I don't buy it! They are wagon circling as best as they can. They know that their testimony will sink her - the things they saw and heard, etc., it already has led to the charges against her - and they do not want to have to testify. If they can claim they are at risk of incriminating themselves - BAM: They don't have to say a word. This would make the case against her a bit harder.

Maybe not. Maybe the jury would have a much easier time understanding the situation without all of that families input.

I don't know about that strategy. There is a very strong case against KC and doubt the absence of the A's testimony would save her from a conviction. You're right about LE, though. They aren't the ones talking.

That's what I think, too. If Lee was looking for his missing neice, his first stop wouldn't have been to retreive KC's things. KC must have asked him to get her stuff.

I would have thought checking in the local bushes would have been one of the first things they should have done. Such a short walk and it seems they never even bothered looking there. If it was one of my cats missing, I'd be looking in every nook and cranny in that area. I believe they all knew, and assisted with the cover up from a very early point in time.

Oh man, you are right about that! It's not like you can trust their testimony and they only confuse the case.

Tony posted on Scared Monkeys that the computer had a blue screen when Lee first looked at it. I think Casey did the file deleting before Cindy arrived.

I have always believed that Casey deleted everything too Chilly. I still think that Amy (or one of the guys) could have possibly given her a heads up...not knowing of course, the seriousness of the situation.

Except, the family can't spin on the witness stand like they spun on LKL.:furious:

Won't matter because there is a lot of video and sworn statements LE can use.If the A's plead the fifth it will make KC look even more guilty,if that's even posiible.
I really wish all the A's would just come clean and then they could focus on grieving for this precious little girl.
It would be a weight off their shoulders.

Perhpas, but think of all we know about casey stealing from her parents, casey racing her father so he can't get to the trunk of the car on the 24th, how casey hid Caylee's whereabouts from her mother for a month, by telling her Caylee was busy or with the sitter, or there ahd been a car accident with Zanny, etc., so Caylee would not come to the phone or the could not come home yet, the July 3, 2008 Myspace from Cindy, why and where casey was eventually tracked down on the 15th of July, the smell of the trunk (It smells like there has benn a dead body in the damn car -CA), the smell of the trunk (the smell in the car washed over you like a wave - LA), the smell of trunk (is of decomp, it was so strong I could barely drive the car home, I'm bothered by that smell -GA), the suspicion of GA when he retrieved the car (I thought, don't let it be my Caylee), casey's phone calls to CA and LA from jail, the jailhouse visits, ruling out who may have made computer searches for chloroform, missing children, inhalation and death - ALL of this is hearsay unless the Anthony's testify. If they testify and vary from what they said before, they can be impeached. So, if they plead the fifth, it will be EXTREMELY HARD to get much of that evidence in.

Add to the above, much of the evidence regarding casey's abandonment of the car. The Anthony's provide important links in that piece of the puzzle - but not if they don't testify.

I would think that all of their sworn statements could be used.
I'm no lawyer so I really don't know.

Exactly. How about asking KC where the nanny lives and starting there? No one in the family seems to ask KC the whereabouts of the nanny or anything about the nanny for that matter. They are only interested in the whereabouts of KC, getting KC's things at Tonys, KC's computer, KC's friends, KC's phone, KC's missing phone, KC's calls, KC's myspace, KC's job, KC's receipts, etc, etc, etc.

I am a lawyer, but do not do criminal law. In my family law cases, I could not use police reports as witness statements except to impeach. That means, I would have to question the witness about what they reported to LE and if they varied from that, I move in the report. But, their sworn statements are still out of court statements, so they are hearsay. I'm tellin' ya', I see what they are setting up for and it will make the SA's job ALOT harder.

That's another thing that does not come in without the Anthony's testimony - how they never met or spoke with the nanny.

What is so crucial from the A's testimony? Maybe that the last person seen with Caylee was KC? I really don't know what would make it so much more difficult.

Amy or one of the guys could have given her a heads up, but I'll also bet that Cindy was texting Casey furiously after retrieving the car. Casey knew the jig was up before Cindy showed up at the door, IMO.

I think that would work more in the Prosecution's favor as he/she can address the jury by saying "and the defence did not produce one witness to confirm that ZG existed".

Yes, Casey deleted the files after sent Cindy her a text or two ..
Casey knew the show was coming to a close ..

This is me hitting myself up the side of my head going "duh!why didn't I think of that!":waitasec:
I was always focused on those two hours Lee was away from the house and assuming he was pouring over her laptop.
I still think it's possible KC couldn't finish deleting and Lee helped her out.Maybe it was just stuff that he thought would be embarrassing to KC ,not realizing it could be connected to Caylee's disappearance.

wonder why she didn't have a better story ready?
