George Jones has passed away.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — George Jones, the peerless, hard-living country singer who recorded dozens of hits about good times and regrets and peaked with the heartbreaking classic "He Stopped Loving Her Today," has died. He was 81.

Sad to hear this, he was a legend and a true character. For some reason, a false rumor that he died passed around a few years ago and I believed it for a few hours, then the truth came out that he was alive and well. Mr Swamp just laughed and said " So he was just playing possum?"

RIP George, you and the the story of your lawnmower are legendary and will never be forgotten.

One of a handful of voices this country has produced that truly will never die.

George Jones (Telegraph)
George Jones, who has died aged 81, was perhaps the most naturally gifted singer/songwriter in the history of American country music; his voice, capable of expressing powerful emotion without ever crossing the line into melodrama, was ideally suited to ballads of heartbreak and loneliness.
