Never really found a secret room. But once in an old apartment that I lived in, I found the some previous owner created a haven in the attic to grow pot. Found several aquariums filled with potting soil and some old bong. The bong looked old and moldy. Probably from bong water that had dried out years ago. Does that count?

If the house had been built by previous owners at some point (some people build their own themselves) and left the note, maybe the room just went unnoticed for years if it wasn't on any blueprints. The mold would have occurred since no one accessed the room. Now if i had a secret room, i would go in there all the time for peace and quiet.

The attic to our house is sealed and God only knows what's up there!

I could break the seal and look, of course. But after reading this thread, I'm going to keep it shut in case southcitymom wants to come and have sex up there. (With her husband, I mean, not with me.)

Back in 1999 I began a job as a writer for a company. The building was 2 years old. Within six months of taking the job, my cubical spot was moved to a spot that had a lump and a dip in the floor. My desk chair rolled down hill.
After a week sitting there, I became deathly ill. I lost my sense of smell, taste, lost weight and had pressure in my sinuses that was unbearable. I also lost my ability to read and my memory was shot.
Here the floor, under the carpet, was cracked and alternia mold had grown there from an outdoor sprinkler leaking into the crack. I was sitting in a sesspool!
After going from doctor to doctor, I thought I had a brain tumor! I finally saw an allgerest and was tested to discover I was allergic to 7 different molds.
I found a large black and green circle under my desk and where my chair sat. It was awful.
I was fired for making so many errors. Duh, I was sick and could not work. Ultimately, I took the company to the state's Worker's Comp agency. They turned down my case because they did not recognize the sick building syndrom at that time. At the time I didn't know about OSHA or I would have called them to investigate this building safety.
Since then, I am very sensitive to mold and can not be in a store or office where it is located. I can smell it immeditely. And nearly pass out from the effects.
All molds are dangerous and they are becoming a real threat to many buildings and homes both old and new.
If anyone wants to check for the presence of mold, just call me. My senses are tuned in big time!

Knowing my luck if I found a secret room in a house I would buy it would prolly have whips and chains and a stripper pole in it. LOL
Then I could hide in there with my husband. LOL:woohoo:

I'm sorry this happened to you. Mold is so horrible. I'm allergic to it also, and constantly think I have it in my house but can't find any. This Summer my grandkids threw several pieces of fruit behind a heavy entertainment center. By the time I found them, they were black with mold and I've been sick as a dog for three months with sinus problems and lost a lot of weight.

LOL, Nova. Knowing you have a semi-secret room tempts me more than ever to visit the west coast!
