Criminal Defense Attorney for Casey - Linda Kenney Baden

  • #421
That's a great point Sun! I haven't been able to go back watch the indigency hearing.

I had such a terrible time trying to make out what she said, as she talked very, very quickly and not at all clearly. Perhaps it was due to her position in relation to a microphone.

I hope that a copy of her original retainer that she had with Casey, was turned over to the court.

Yeah, I think she is trying to strong-arm not just Judge Perry, but challenge the FL law and the JAC regs. It won't work and she is showing her arrogance in that motion. I totally disagree with the notion that this could be any basis for appeal in re. ineffective counsel. She is just running off at the mouth and full of herself. She acts like there isn't an IN-STATE attorney worthy of doing what she has done.

It is ONLY because of the national publicity that Casey Anthony has been blessed to have such esteemed legal representation for whatever length of time they stayed. (sans Baez ). One of the things that bugs me most is that she has been treated MORE FAIRLY and had BETTER representation than other indigent defendants who have been accused of crimes that have not received 1/100,000th of the exposure of this case. Those are the people that should have a reason to feel slighted. None of that will be lost on the court of appeals, imo.

It's interesting that you mention how highly esteemed all KC's Attorneys are/have been ( exception is Baez) and each time one signed on, we have read that they were so super-duper and intimidating that the SA would have a hard time matching them with wit or oratory- then we see them in Court and it's like watching a damp firework... not impressed with any of them so far. AL/LKB/ CM/ and lets not forget the 'Expert' who testified as to the Jury/Court's bias against women who were perceived as being of 'loose character' - makes me want to laugh really.

ITA, ZsaZsa. The only ones that have really impressed me have been the SAs - LDB, JA and FG. The rest are just high-profile. Doesn't make them any better attorneys. Pretty much makes the point of the Florida statute - she can get just as good legal representation by using in-state counsel. No need to pay all those travel expenses. There are good, qualified attorneys that practice in FL with forensic experience.

That said, because of the media attention this case has received, Casey Anthony has had more attorneys knocking on her cell door volunteering to work pro bono than any of those other indigent defendants sitting around waiting for their trial date.

And ya know Beach most, if not all, in state attorneys would know exactly what"pro bono" means and what the JAC will and will not allow.

Kinda/sorta has me thinking any in state attorney is going after all they can (money and publicity) because of the notoriety of ICA not because they believe she is innocent. Bad call on any attorney would does this ... get it JB???

What bothers me most about her request for withdrawal is her timing. I've also re-listened to her testimony at Casey's indigency hearing and LKB mentioned nothing at all about receiving "costs/expenses" yet in her motion to withdraw, she does. And, Casey did not disclose that in her affidavits either.

Exactly, so either she is lying or Jose is lying , if it was he, not Casey herself, who filled out her affidavits for her signature. The best predictor of someone's behavior is their past behavior. I'll let the reader infer who they think it was.

We know that Richard Hornsby described those affidavits as "Intellectually dishonest".

Here Jose sets out that one lawyer, except himself, had been paid costs, Andrea. He leaves out any mention of paying Linda Kenney-Baden, even costs for travel.
Great memory Sun!!!!

Notice here that both Andrea and Linda hang back at the defense table during this side bar that all of the other lawyers went up to the bench for. Never, ever in any other hearing did the defense lawyers in attendance not go up. Eventually Andrea goes up, but Linda does not. What do we infer from that? Is this the hearing that at the end, Cheney informed Judge Strickland he was asking him to step aside? Maybe she wanted NO part of that.

This is the best comment I have yet to see on LKB withdrawing from the case.

Boy is LKB making the media rounds! What, did she leave the DT in favor of being a designated mouthpiece?

If she wants to appear credible she may want to sprinkle in a few interviews that don't show DT bias. Just saying.....

Oh How I would LOVE for her to come on Websleuths Radio.

Ms. Baden and I agree on several points. In fact I think the two of us are the only ones who think there still is a good chance for an acquittal.

If Ms. Baden would come on Websleuths radio it would be a wonderful opportunity to try and change a lot of minds when it comes to the way people feel about this trial.

Keep your finger's crossed. :)
