  • Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Blue eyes; dark brown hair. Medium build and a fair complexion. Her teeth were in good condition at the time of her disappearance.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Van Huukslot was last seen in Toronto in 1977. She left a friends home to catch a plane at Toronto International Airport. She was to return to her home in Edmonton.

She had traveled from Edmonton to Toronto carrying $3,000 in a homemade money belt around her waist with the purpose of raising bail for her boyfriend, Stacey Harris, who had been arrested on a drug charge. She visited Harris in the Don Jail and told him about her only partially successful efforts in raising his bail of $15,000. She would raise the balance somehow. Crystal attempted to acquire the money by legitimate means, but was unsuccessful. Harris suggested loan sharks he knew, and gave her the name of Ian Rosenberg. Crystal contacted the man and was promised the money within a week. Something went wrong. Crystal told a friend that the Rosenberg loan had fallen through and that she would be flying back to Edmonton the following morning to attempt once more to raise the necessary funds. She visited Harris and told him that Rosenberg would be giving her a lift to the airport. Crystal never took the flight to Edmonton. When questioned by police, Rosenberg claimed he had dropped her off at the airport. Crystal disappeared and has not been seen since.

Rosenberg and his girlfriend were shot to death in bed seven months later. James Bass, a friend and business associate of Rosenberg, was arrested two hours after the double murder. Bass stood trial for the Rosenberg's murder. At the trial, Crown counsel Robert McGee admitted that the case against Bass was purely circumstantial, but contended that the motive for murder was Bass's fear that Rosenberg was about to inform the police of Bass's involvement in Crystal Van Huuksloot's disappearance.
James Bass was found not guilty. No one has ever been convicted of the murder of Ian Rosenberg and his girlfriend, nor has Crystal Van Huuksloot ever been found.

Edited because I came here too quick and forgot to read my comment from the previous post (that you responded to and linked this post).

Silly me, I didn't even remotely touch on any of that. So rewind.... I started comparing Crystal to the a doe found in Bowmanville (2006) and started to notice some very striking similarities.

Crystal was said to have been driven to the airport, but if you drive straight towards Durham and get off on the hwy, there is an area of which the body was found.

They had searched the area multiple times over years, and found various jewelry as well (2010). Which makes me wonder if the gang was smart and kept dumping random jewelery there from their heists, in order to keep LE on their toes.

Check out Clarington Doe vs Crystal... just with the reconstruction alone.

Doe is said to have been at the location approx 25 years, placing her death at 1981. However, I feel this is due to items found at the scene. The same scene that items from 1995(ish) were found at 4 years later. That being said, it's plausible these items dated in 81 didn't even belong to the doe (item being referred to... a penny from 1981).

Doe and MP were submitted as a potential match in summer of last year. Specifically June.

411: Crystal, 20, arrived in Toronto from Edmonton carrying $3,000 in a money belt to pay her boyfriend, Stacey Harris’ bail for a dope beef. Harris told the young woman to see notorious loan shark and mob enforcer Ian Rosenberg about getting the remaining $12,000. But the deal with Rosenberg fell through, however, and she told Harris the mobster would give her a lift to the airport. She never got on the plane. Rosenberg later told cops he did, in fact, drop her off. Months later. Rosenberg and his girlfriend were iced in an underworld settling of accounts.''
