Again, another relative says that they searched and found nothing. This boggles my mind. Same house for decades. No one off grid. A PI was even hired! I don't understand.
Like no one cared enough to find out where he was.
This case is horrifying on so many levels.

The PI suggested looking for a death notice, which they didn’t find, of course. If someone has no online presence or news article about them I don’t see how anyone could have found out anything. The father and stepmother wouldn’t answer questions. They certainly weren’t going to let relatives search the house. He was totally isolated. I don’t see what more the relatives could have done.

Did KS clutch those pearls? lol
There was someone sitting in the back seat wearing pink who didn't exit the vehicle during the short clip.
Good catch !
I had to go back and re-watch the clip.
Imo.

I agree.
Apologies if I didn't clarify.
I'm not blaming anyone who made an effort to help him.
It just seems like more could have been done.
But again I can understand how maybe the bio mom and others were stymied at every turn ?
Hope they sue her or ask the judge for the harshest penalties allowed by law.
It's frightening to think of this monster ever being freed !
Imo.

Rereading the warrant, how, how did he survive. The detectives interviewing him in the hospital, listening to him detail his life in that 'hole' for decades, starving, sick, no bathroom, nothing but terror. No heat, no a/c. There is nothing at all that can give him justice. She will have all he did not as a child and onward in prison. He will have all the support he needs to somehow get healthier, but never as he would of been. So much physical damage as well as mental and emotional. He sure sounds and IS an amazing human being.

I was impressed by this part:

They haven't yet met their son and brother, but hope to in the future.

"He’s in a very delicate stage right now," Vallerand said.

“If he reaches out, absolutely, but it’s not about us, it’s about him and his recovery, so if he wants either one of us, both of us, neither of us, it’s up to him not us," Tessman said.

“I’ll be surprised if he trusts anybody ever," Vallerand said.

Obviously the authorities will have their contact information and will likely tell him at some point which family members have reached out to him, and that he can chose to contact them or not.

Good video here.

So damn sad.
I'm curious if the victim wanted a TV and if he has one if he's following the news?
He may have been advised not to watch TV/news but I don't see how his medical team could legally stop him from having one.
I remember him speaking about having a TV in his dungeon for a short time.
Did she give the father, KS, full legal custody and had no visitation rights?

Great news, thanks.
I had criticized the judge who let her out on bond w/o restrictions.
The issue I see that may be forthcoming for the state is her house is probably inhabitable so house arrest may not fly.
Though we may find out where she's hiding out.
Still want to know if she had supporters show up with her.

imo
Did you mean "uninhabitable"? That house, I fear, was basically destroyed in the fire.

Wouldn't that straw system he jury-rigged have really stunk, both in- and outdoors? Or was the place so filthy, nobody would have noticed that odor on top of all the others?

BBM:
I get great pleasure knowing that KS can't run away from the fact that everybody in her surrounding area knows who she is or what she looks like and what she's accused of.

She must feel like she's being held captive, eh? lol

Indeed I did and thank you.

IIRC:
It was said that the fire was contained to upstairs and/or the area the victim was kept/locked in.
There is also the smoke odor and possible smoke damage throughout the house.

I've been waiting to hear about her homeowner's insurance, that is if she even had insurance and then has the audacity to make a claim.
Insurance companies do not pay out for arson set by a resident .
Even though it's what I would call good arson under extenuating circumstances she remains the cause of it.

Not as much odour as the newspaper and string situation I would have thought. Or the zero washing facilities. Absolutely I am shocked and saddened by this

Every time I check this thread, I hope to see some kind of update that he's gaining weight and adapting to his newfound freedom.

I appreciate the irony in watching him being carried out in a fireman's arms then seeing KS's attorney trying to whitewash the whole thing.

I know that's his job, but sometimes, it's better to just keep your mouth shut.

I'm not trying to jump to conclusions because I know it's easy for humans to accept what they're told. But he went to the trouble of hiring a PI.

Did they question the sisters? If so, what did they say? If not, why didn't they? Why hire a PI but not go to the police? Maybe they did go to the police.

Here's the thing that bothers me, and I think many of us. So many people from different areas of their lives knew something was wrong. Knew there was a problem.

Neighbors, school officials, sisters, police, a private investigator, multiple family members, child services. And yet this still happened.

No blame, but the reality is that no one pushed hard enough to the point that he would have been saved earlier. I'm just brainstorming to see how this happened and how it could've been prevented.

Lots of questions we may never have the answers to.
