GUILTY CT - Connie Dabate, 39, murdered in her Ellington home, 23 Dec 2015 *husband arrested*

From the link, these were my favorite -- especially since every Judge repeatedly instructs the jury about how lawyers are not witnesses at trial and their opening and closing statements are not evidence:

Gedansky further defended two statements he made during his closing arguments, saying neither was improper.

In one statement, Gedansky told the jury that “the defendant wants you to speculate and guess and be gullible and leave your common sense outside the courthouse.”

LaLima argued that the comment would have turned the jury against Dabate for reasons unrelated to the facts of the case.

“The comments carried no such implication,” Gedansky’s response states.
“The defendant’s argument about what is ‘implied’ by these comments is based on the worst possible meaning that could be ascribed to the comments,” he wrote.

Gedansky added that the alleged improprieties were infrequent and not severe, and the court took adequate measures in each situation.

“In light of the relevant factors, the defendant has failed to demonstrate any alleged improprieties in this case were so severe as to deprive the defendant of his right to a fair trial,” Gedansky said.

Aso, the foreperson of the jury that spoke to NBC made it clear how the timeline and totality of the digital evidence by the prosecution showed that his story didn't add up.

In the arrest warrant later obtained by PEOPLE, police revealed that Richard’s cellphone records showed he texted his girlfriend the day before his wife’s murder: “I’ll see you tomorrow my little love nugget,” he allegedly wrote.

Dude still believes his own lies...

From the quoted link:

Richard maintains his innocence to this day, and his attorneys continue to appeal his conviction. As recently as October 2024, local NBC Connecticut reported, attorneys for Richard argued that their client wasn’t given a fair trial based on questions asked by state prosecutors, including asking Richard to respond to other witness testimony.

But Richard remains behind bars, convicted of killing his wife to hide his affair. He isn’t scheduled to be released until 2087, though his attorneys’ appeals continue to attempt to shorten his sentencing. There has been no decision made yet on Richard’s appeal from last October, which could reexamine his conviction and his sentence.
