Norwich -- A 34-year-old city man has been missing for more than a week after leaving Backus Hospital in Norwich on Oct. 14, police said.

Derek Noel was reported missing by Jenn Paradis, his ex-wife and the mother of two of his three children. She said Noel has not been to work or back to his apartment since he left this hospital.

• Noel has no history of leaving abruptly or being hard to contact.
• He normally talks to his mother daily and last contacted her on Oct. 13.
• His phone has been going straight to voicemail since he left the hospital.
• The family did not say why he was in the hospital.
• Noel is 6' tall weighing about 180 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
• He may have been carrying a black backpack.

Did he actually leave the hospital? There have been a few people found dead in hospitals. Old stairwells, broom cupboards. MOO

Perhaps the meds they gave him confused him and/or made him ill?


Did he drive himself to the hospital I wonder?

Do HIPPA laws pertain to giving information to family or police in a case like this?

Man, I hope he is safe somewhere. A mom, sister, and young kids!
