Victim may have had Turner’s Syndrome

GROTON, Conn. (WFSB) - Groton police have provided an update on human remains found in March.

The unidentified remains were found on March 19th near the corner of Mitchell Street and Ledyard Avenue.

Police say they are hopeful that someone will come forward with information identifying the victim.

The victim’s remains were found near the entrance of the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery near the SEAT bus stop on Groton local route 11.

Her remains were left there in mid-February, police say, but it is possible she was missing prior to that.

Police have not been able to identify the remains, but they do know she was an adult woman with light skin between the ages of 40 and 60.

They also believe she may have had Turner Syndrome.

“Individuals with Turner Syndrome often display physical characteristics such as short stature, broad chest, short wide neck, and small chin,” police said.

Police are asking for the publics help.

Just to clarify, the victim was found next to a trash can that’s located near the entrance of the cemetery. The location is about 15 feet from the road and visible to people driving or walking by. It’s also a SEAT bus stop but because there’s no seating or shelter, people waiting for the bus sit on a rock that’s about 5 feet from where she was found.

Groton police are asking the public for footage of the area between 2/13/25-2/18/25, which is when they believe she was dumped there. Her body was found a month later on 3/19/25.

I do know why it wasn’t immediately evident that her body was there but i’m not 100% clear on the rules here and don’t want to have my comment removed.

Caitlin Elizabeth Daley went missing in February 2025 from Hartford, but had ties to Groton. She is a little bit younger that the estimated age and has tattoos but there is not even a hair color or height for the UID
It’s my understanding that this is because her head was not present. I am local to this case and it’s causing a lot of panic in the area.

This body has been previously theorized to be a victim of a serial killer, the body still remains unidentified so I will share this here as well.

On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, the Groton Police Department responded to a 911 call for a suspicious suitcase. This was located adjacent to the Colonel Ledyard Cemetery on Mitchell Street. Upon a search of the area, officers located human remains inside of the suitcase. It was left next to a trash can at an unmarked Southeast Area Transit (SEAT) route 11 bus stop. Residents claim that it had been there for weeks before the call was made, since about mid-February.

Here is what is currently known about the victim.

  • The remains belong to a woman between the ages of 40 and 60
  • She had light pigmented skin
  • Police believe she may have had Turner syndrome

Identified and an arrest!
Author: Dalton Zbierski, Steffen Reals April 25, 2025 rbbm.
''GROTON, Conn. — Weeks of investigating by the City of Groton Police Department and their state and federal partners culminated in a press conference on Friday, as the arrest of a murder suspect was announced.
About a month after the discovery of human remains in the city outside the Col. Ledyard Cemetery on March 19, law enforcement was able to identify the deceased woman as Suzanne Wormser, 58, of Groton''

''On Friday, Groton City Police Chief David Burton announced the arrest of 68-year-old Groton resident Donald Coffel in connection to Wormser's death.
The couple lived together in a home on Allen Street, where an investigation has been ongoing for more than a week. Burton described the murder as a "targeted event."

Some info about Sue from neighbors:

"Neighbors say they knew there was an issue when they hadn’t seen Wormser for a while.
“Sue always had the same routine. She always did the same thing. So when I stopped seeing her around the community, I just knew something was wrong,” said Stephanie Oceane."

There’s very little info available online for Coffel. I looked him up on BeenVerified and see that he worked at a place called Charter Pest Control at one point but there are no other employment records on there.

He does have over 20 former addresses all over the country. I’ve never seen a report with this many addresses listed on it. They’re mostly in Arizona, Missouri and Connecticut. One or two are in Tennessee.

There’s not much in his criminal history… one incident where he wrote a bad check, another for driving without a seatbelt and a violation of probation in 1988 but no mention of what he was on probation for.

His online report paints a picture of a drifter who moved around a lot and sometimes went by “Steve”.

I only mention all of this because it seems like quite a leap to go from having no violent criminal history to murder and dismemberment. I’m sure that LE is already doing this (especially since the FBI is involved) but I think it would be interesting to cross reference missing persons and unsolved violent crimes with his address history.
