NamUs: https://identifyus.org/en/cases/8901

Case #: M-83-428
Date found: November 2nd, 1983
Location: Hartford Co., CT
Estimated age: 30-60 (listed as "age cannot be determined" for some reason)
Race: White
Ethnicity: Hispanic/Latino
Sex: Male
Body conditions: Not recognizable - partial skeletal parts only
Probable year of death: X to 1983
Estimated postmortem interval: 10 years

Circumstances: Circumstances are unknown

Deformities: Left side of skull protrudes more than right

Clothing on body: tan wool jacket, blue shirt, tan pants size 35" waist with a brown belt, black socks
Footwear: black loafer-type shoes
Jewelry: Sanyo digital watch with a siler stretch band
Other items found with body: 3 GM keys in his pocket

DNA: Sample submitted - tests complete
Dental: Dental information / charting is available and entered

My questions for this guy are: Why isn't there a location? Where was he that he could keep all of that stuff nearby even though he was found 10 years after he died? (So 1973?) What body parts didn't they find? Is that why they couldn't estimate height... Even though they seem to have a full set of clothes? Why aren't there any circumstances listed? Why isn't there a recon? I'd love to see what they meant by the left side protruding more. I feel like that would help me envision him a lot better.

Why did he have so many car keys in his pocket? Maybe he was a valet or worked at a car dealership / repair shop or something?

Frustrating that there isn't more information available for this person. No new info on Namus. Just like a few others there seem to be some clues that perhaps with publicity would be recognisable.

I wasn’t alive back then — there were separate keys for all those things in the ‘80s?

2 keys was not uncommon in the '80s. Square for ignition, round for doors and trunk (or vice-versa, it was a long time ago). We don't know the make, model and year of the vehicle(s) the UID's keys were for. Could've been older models, which would make the 2-key system even more likely. My first car was an AMC Gremlin (mid-70s?). It had two keys, ignition and doors/hatch.

3 keys, I could be totally wrong. Admittedly, that's just a guess on my part. I do remember locking glove boxes use to be standard but I don't remember if there was a separate key for them. The 3rd key the UID had could've been for a different car. It sure would be nice if there were pics of the keys on NamUs.

No exclusions.

Back then a single car had two keys. if something had been fixed on the car, like on my father's old Chevy when the ignition switch failed, you ended up with three keys for a single car.

Not sure if the subject header means possible White or Possible Hispanic or mix but Charles Stanton Murphy (MP19622) missing since April 1982 from NJ matches Several UID stats, age is off however. Article listed above states UID dead at least one month.

1. 5’10” 170 lbs. listed in news article for UID. (MP 5’9” - 5’10”, 160-170 lbs.)

2. MP had previous injury to skull (unknown which area of the skull, no details)

3. MP wore a black, plastic digital watch

4. MP owned a 1974 Chevrolet Camaro (2 GM keys back then. Square key marked GM for ignition and Oval key marked GM for the trunk)

Once investigative leads were returned to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, they worked with the State Police to confirm that the unknown man from 1983 was in fact Francis Patrick Fitzpatrick, born October 21, 1939. Fitzpatrick was originally from Springfield, Massachusetts. He was last seen in March of 1983, but his body was never found until now. His death is not being investigated as a homicide.

Rest peacefully now Francis.
He was not Hispanic (more like a Black Irish?) but I can see how morphological analysis could have come to that assumption based on his dark hair (not sure how much more soft tissue and hair was left of him).

That is why we need DNA and Othram. Well done again!
