Skeletal remains found in a wooded area on the Harwinton, Litchfield town line on Sunday

Police said just after 3 p.m. that day, Troop L in Litchfield was contacted by a person who reported finding what they believed to be skeletal remains. The person found the remains while walking their dog in the woods in the area of Campville Road.

On Jan. 11, the Western District Major Crime Unit said in a statement they received numerous viable tips and recovered on-scene evidence that is likely to identify the remains. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working with the anthropologist to expedite efforts, they said.

I just did a little digging on Facebook and I'm pretty sure Marielys' mom just posted current pictures of her celebrating her 18th birthday.

Strange, because she is still listed here....I hope she is no longer missing.
poster-results Shouldn't we let authorities know, so they can check it out?

Is there a forum specifically for the Route 8 Murders? Also of note, Brianna was not listed in NamUs despite being reported to Bristol Police and NCMEC.

Skeletal remains were discovered in the Campville section of Harwinton in December 2021. Using dental records the Connecticut State Medical Examiner has identified the remains as 20-year-old Brianna Beam, the sixth woman with Waterbury ties to end up dead along a desolate road next to the Naugatuck River.
This is Brianna's story......

Skeletal Remains Discovered In Campville Identified as 20-Year-Old Brianna Beam

SBM (Long article; section headings below)

Brianna Beam came to Waterbury at age 18, in 2020, newly independent, to begin life afresh. It was a fateful decision. A year later, her skeletal remains were found in Campville, near the Naugatuck River in Harwinton. In February, her body was identified by dental records. The FBI has recently joined the investigation.

“Brianna was a free spirit,” said her Nana, Carole Beam. “She was living in the 70s in the 2000s. She wanted to make a difference, and loved life.”

With her new freedom, of all the wide world, she chose Waterbury. Aside from cheap rent, it appears to have been a dart throw at a map. But within a year, her spirit and precious life were crushed—discarded at the bottom of an embankment off Valley Road in Harwinton, just off Route 8. She was the sixth Waterbury woman to be found near that spot since 1988.

Heartbreaking! I'm so glad I don't have a daughter....I would really"killed" her with love. I would be balancing between letting go and being afraid all the time...

*Archived article:
HARWINTON — Skeletal remains discovered two months ago in an area of town thick with similar findings over the years have been identified as that of a young woman with ties to Waterbury, Thomaston and Bristol.

Brianna Beam was born Oct. 8, 2001, and was 19 when a missing person’s case was filed with Bristol police in April 2021.

State police were called Dec. 19, 2021, to the Harwinton-Northfield town line near Campville Road, where Beam’s remains were found by a man walking his dog. An investigation was turned over to the state police Western District Major Crime Squad.

Beam was identified through dental records. She was known to have ties to Thomaston, Waterbury, Bristol and Rhode Island, police said. She had been listed as missing more than once.

A previous missing person’s report had been issued by police in East Providence, R.I., after Beam disappeared from a group home for 17- to 21-year-olds in October 2019. She later was found in Connecticut.

Bristol police Lt. Geoffrey Lund said his officers had contact with Beam concerning a larceny complaint on April 8, 2021.

A request was made from outside of Connecticut on Nov. 25, 2001, to find Beam and, despite attempts by multiple agencies, she couldn’t be located, Lund said.

Beam’s last known address in Bristol was 1175 Farmington Ave.

The investigation remains open. State police haven’t said whether they believe the death involved foul play.

The hair of the young lady in that photograph is neither black nor curly so that is a bit confusing.

If you check her social media it seems her hair was naturally wavy but usually straightened. Not black, though, just brown

Six of those killings happened in the 20 years between 1986 and 2006. Then there was a period of quiet. In late December of 2021, the murder of Brianna Beam brought the troubled corridor back into the spotlight.

“I cried so hard, I couldn’t even talk,” Carole Beam, Brianna’s aunt.

Two years ago, Carole received the news from Connecticut state police that her 20-year-old niece was found dead on the Harwinton-Litchfield line.

Her case still hasn’t been solved, and police aren’t sharing many details as they continue to investigate.

“All he could say was she was on the side of a road, down a ravine,” said Carole. “From what they see it seems like somebody dumped her there.”

The M.O. in Brianna’s case has similarities to the other older cold cases from the Route 8 corridor.
