missing-putnam-children.jpg

Putnam police are trying to locate a mother and her six children after the children failed to show up at school this week.

Police are searching for 47-year-old Heidi Boyle and her children:
  • 17-year-old Jenna Stebbins
  • 13-year-old Patrick Stebbins
  • 10-year-old Brendon Stebbins
  • 8-year-old Heather Stebbins
  • 6-year-old Sarah Stebbins
  • 18-month-old Kerry Stebbins
Silver Alerts have been issued for the children.

Investigators believe Boyle may have left the state to avoid DCF intervention. Police said there is no criminal element to their investigation and that they only want to check on the family’s wellbeing.

Wow, the family size alone (9 kids) makes me wonder if this family practices a religion or belongs to a faith-adjacent subculture that encourages married couples to have lots of children (a la the evangelical Christian “Quiverfull” movement embodied by folks like the Duggar family of “19 Kids and Counting” fame)—and, if so, whether or not their disappearance could potentially be related to that...

Three kids must have aged out, went to college, left home, etc.

I’m not the OP but it’s here: Putnam police issue Silver Alert for missing mother, 6 children

Maybe 3 are old enough to have already moved out of the house or are with another custodial parent? Just 2 of many possibilities, not speculating at all.
Thank you. That one got by me but I see it now and the article does make clear that the six who are missing live with her. Wowzers, that's a bunch of little ones. MOO

obit- Obituary for Robert W. Stebbins | Paradis-Givner Funeral Home

Heidis partner of 25 years and the father of her nine children died in December (in a nursing home so I guess he has been ill for awhile). It must be so overwhelming to have to deal with a dying partner and nine kids including a young baby.

I hope Heidi and kids are found safely and they get the support they need.
Thank you for these links. This is just so sad. They looked so happy - big smiles on all their faces - children and adults alike. :(:(:( MOO

The Silver Alert canceled is good news. This woman has been through a lot - I can't imagine losing the father of my 9 children. I hope she has family and community to support her in the coming days.
