Dr Carlos did his residency/ internship in Tennessee where Michelle was born. But none of his kids were technically raised in America. He went home to Venez and MT grew up there and attended their schools and college there in Venezuela.
So what’s with Dr Carlos’ statement on the courthouse steps about bringing his family to America for a better life? Does this mean in adulthood? Did he get his ex wife/ himself and the daughters all dual citizenship as adults? Also his talk about losing business. I hope it is money for consulting /speaking engagements etc as at his age - upper 70’s - I am not sure he should be in scrubs for surgery unless it’s on a team.
His linked in
Did MT actually go to college?

A few times JS asked witnesses something like “Would it matter if someone didn’t finish High School or go to College”

Was JS referring to MT?

I think that shipped has sailed.

Completely agree. She had every opportunity to do the right thing - but she tripled down, causing the State to waste (throw into gutter) unnecessary time and resources dealing with her obstruction. If she wanted to help now that she is convicted - nope. The State, again using a lot of time and resources, (hello prosecutors!), had to get justice the hard way slogging through this trial while being under constant attack in the media. And that jury hanging in there and following the letter of the law. It would send a very bad message, imo, to devalue the jury’s work by giving her a deal or leniency now. She is convicted and she will pay in full.

Not surprised by this from PG's lawyer but it is interesting to note his thoughts from a defense lawyer perspective.

"Lindy Urso, the attorney for Pawel Gumienny, one of the main witnesses for the prosecution against Troconis, said he was "very surprised" by the verdict.
Gumienny testified for two days about the lead-up to Jennifer Dulos' disappearance and the days and weeks afterward. But his lawyer said he didn't think that amounted to proof of a murder conspiracy against Troconis beyond a reasonable doubt.

"I don't believe the state had the evidence," Urso said. "I don't think they had the evidence of foreknowledge beyond a reasonable doubt." https://www.ctinsider.com/news/arti...verdict-watch-live-updates-dulos-18697836.php
Interesting stat on DV deaths from the above interesting article:

"In a prepared statement Friday afternoon, Meghan Scanlon, the CEO of the Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence, said Jennifer Dulos was among 14 people killed by an intimate partner in the state in 2019".

"Today, a jury held one of the individuals involved in her death accountable for the tremendous loss that will forever be felt by Jennifer’s children, family, and friends," Scanlon said. "We appreciate the diligence of the prosecutors, investigators, and jurors in ensuring some measure of justice for Jennifer and her family."

Scanlon said that domestic violence "is a preventable public health crisis that impacts us all.

"Abusive tactics can be coercive and subtle but may escalate over time, becoming more physically violent," she said. "Fifteen women were killed by a current or former intimate partner in Connecticut just last year. We urge anyone who is questioning their own relationship or that of a family member or friend to speak with an advocate."

Does anyone know if MT would be allowed to leave CT if she posted bond, or if she would be eligible for parole? I thought originally she couldn’t leave the state but then was allowed to go to Colorado.

No way…she is a convicted felon now

Statement from Horn in above quoted article:

Schoenhorn: 'I'm at a loss' [IMO NOT NEW NEWS]

Schoenhorn said outside court that prosecutors had "presented a narrative based on inadmissible hearsay and speculation" that was "enough to convince this jury."

"I'm at a loss, particularly with regard to the first count," he said. "I don't believe there was any evidence that could do to the jury on the conspiracy to commit murder whatsoever."

"Going to trial is always a risk," he said. "I'm more disappointed than I am surprised. I just personally don't feel this was justice."

The attorney said "there are so many appeal issues. For me, it's going to be what not to argue rather than what we should argue."

Troconis will not be bonding out today, he said.

If she makes bond the court has admonished her to house arrest, ankle and gps monitoring as well as no passports.

MT was presumed innocent before the trial.

Now she is convicted and so I believe different rules apply.

We shall learn more at the Sentencing Hearing in May.

Hope State and CSP picked up the Venezuelan passport in possession of Schoenhorn.

She supposedly graduated from college with a degree in psychology.

I don't recall where this reference was sourced and I cannot marshall the personal resources at this particular moment to look.

But, its been posted many threads ago so if you want the name of the university it is on WS somewhere. The indexing system on WS is above my pay grade so may the force be with you if you choose to search it out.

What do you bet that all the justices in Hartford choose to go on vacation so as to have to avoid the inevitable Jon Schoenhorn appeal?

I just hope they line up the research attorneys up in Hartford that support the Judges to FACT CHECK "Esteemed Defence Counsel" motion as the wonderful research librarians that helped me with a few questions at Yale were stumped by his cites used in a few motions.

When my kids were young and they claimed consequences for misbehavior was not fair, I started asking them what would be fair given the situation, what did they think they had done wrong, and how would I know they had done that thing wrong.

I wonder what JS would think was fair. All not guilty? Some guilty and some not guilty? MT's sister said something that made me think they (as a family) had thought there would be some guilty verdicts for the charges. The family had to know something--- Petu was not the only person she had claimed to speak to on that day so, what does the rest of the family know?

Yes, I'd read somewhere last night @lucegirl one of the CT attorneys on air saying that the fee amt could go from 7% up to 10%.

We've been down this path before for FD but I don't recall we ever heard the fee total mentioned (FD had a jumbo sized bond too. We might have heard something about it also in the Anna Curry litigation as she has been suing the bail bond companies to get her money back. IDK update on that situation. Does anyone know?

Does anyone recall?

Looks like the lawsuits are still meandering through the courts. Last heard in November 2023. If you look at the participants, Anna Curry is definitely out numbered.

The transcripts are still awaiting redactions (of personal information?)

Is the CT district court a federal court?

$420,000 is a lot of money to buy 2 months of freedom.

Other thought is that if a person has “ill gotten gains” for lack of a better phrase, then unlocking that sum to bring back to US is legally tricky imo.

Not sure anyone would want to expose themselves to US Federal review just to provide a 2 month home stay for MT.

But, that is just me. Perhaps they want her out and are willing to pay that for 2 months of house arrest?

We shall see.

Tick Tock!

MOO

BBM -

Unless they have a plan to get MT to Argentina where extradition can be difficult.

One might say the Troconis family would have a lot to lose in that case but blood is thicker than water.
