IMO MT is loyal to no one, except her own self -- and her imaginary view of how she wants to be seen.
We ask, "why was she so faithful to FD?" Wrong question. Fidelity is not her strong suit. Make no mistake, she was faithful to her own self. She was faithful to the alibi scripts. IMO she believed them to be foolproof.
Even now, with her aggravating tenacity regarding the sealed report, it shows how married to The Plan she remains.
Because the sealed report reveals motive, just not in the way she thinks it doesn't.
Here's how -- her whole weak defense (which vacillates between 'FD didn't do this because he had no motive' to 'if FD did this, I had no idea. I just loved him to much and trusted the wrong man. I hate when that happens.') boils down to 'the report was favorable' so there was no motive to murder JFd. (Except that, even if the divorce was settled that minute, and FD got full or shared custody, that would not have satisfied Ms. Troconis, who had already born two years of torture, at the supposed hands of JFd, with whose husband MT was caring on a flagrant affair. No, MT wanted JFd GONE. GONE so that MT could freely and fully commandeer JFd's husband, bed, home, children, lifestyle and money. That's where her loyalty lay
But why the locked grip on that sealed report?
That she has a death grip on it tells me it wasn't essential to The Plan.
The foundation of the conspiracy -- that JFd was "losing" and given her so-called history of disappearing herself, it would give the perfect co er for murder.
The (stupid) genuis was in the (stupid) simplicity.
FD would sneak over to New Canaan to abduction JFd in her own vehicle. MT and KM would alibi him at 4 JC crib which he'd only be absent for a few hours, perfectly covered for by the alibi'd phone call from Greece. JFd would be murdered and disappeared per plan. LE sighs five her vehicle abandoned at the park and the world would assume mental health issues inspired her to hop a train to new life complete with a new name, and nobody would question that. It was a STUPID plan from the outset, but try telling that to three cretins who couldn't reason past $.
MT holding tight to that document PROVES she's part of the very conspiracy she's trying to divorce herself from!
