Coney Island beach is that long thin beach just south of Brooklyn. See how a body would never wash out to the end of LI and then come east to the beach.

NC is on the eastern end of Long Island Sound and Coney Island Beach is on the southern shore of Long Island on the western end of LI.
A body dropped into LIS from shore would have to go with the current out to the Atlantic Ocean and around the end of LI and then come back in the length of LI to Coney Island.
I don't think that would happen in a million years mainly due to currents, the body would wash out into the ocean instead of cutting back in if it even got out to the ocean.

Without looking at nautical charts and currents etc. its unlikely IMO that the body could go from CT to Coney Island for the exact reasons the OP stated. But if anyone is interested in taking a look to confirm this there here is most of what you need:

That’s why I mentioned the poster with all that nautical information from awhile back. Very thorough explanation as to currents, tides, water etc. likelihood of body washing up one place or another.
That poster would probably have a very educated opinion for your question.
I just don’t remember how far back that post was made. More importantly who it was.

If you are talking about the river and pond/lake maps previously posted for CT then it was me. I just posted some links to places to look at to figure this out for LIS and NY Harbor. For what its worth, I don't think a body floating from CT to Coney Island is at all likely. Coney Island however could have been a dump destination on its own as the NYC Mafia has a long history of using wetlands in around the area to dispose of bodies.

NC is on the west end of CT Fairfield County. Norwalk and Darien to the south to Long Island Sound and Stamford and Greenwich to the west to Westchester County.

To get to the Atlantic Ocean the quickest is 95 south over Throggs Neck Bridge to LIE. Used to go to Jones Beach as it was the closest.

My guess would be that to get to that location someone would have to travel to the area. This isn't difficult to do but to go over bridges with security cameras would leave a trail for someone IMO. The only way it might be doable is if body were passed to someone unknown to the case and this person was responsible for body disposal.

We know FD was in NYC to go to GF apt (he was turned away) and his trip was very public and documented. I'm not sure even he would use his trip to NY to dispose of a body when the GPS on his vehicle no doubt would document the trip or the phone he used with the Waze app would have had this trip in its history if it weren't wiped.

Stranger things have happened but we have had no indication of any LE searching in/around NYC for JD.

No wonder they haven’t found her. I continue to doubt they ever will.

There are plenty of rivers in middle to southern CT, that run south and into the sound and / or bay at a pretty good clip -- the CT River, Hudson River, etc. Hence the expressions around there such as 'sleeps with fishes' and 'gone in the river'. IMO. Not that it's likely the remains found off Coney Island came from north of there 'upriver' but they certainly could have if the body was placed in the Hudson River, less than an hours' drive from NC, over 6 weeks ago (instead of in the Sound itself). Sadly without a tip or CCTV or cell phone data you are probably correct. But we have seen amazing things happen with trained LE using technology so we cannot give up hope. Its early days yet in this investigation IMO.

The New Canaan weekly would have been part of the Brooks Community chain that Hearst bought a little over 5 years ago. Orig weeklies in Westport, Fairfield, Norwalk, Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan. Many had "Citizen" or "News-Times" on their masthead. Hersam had papers in Ridgefield and New Canaan, perhaps also in the smaller Fairfield County towns like Redding, Easton and Weston? (Sorry - former publishing junkie here.)

The NC Advertiser has been a mainstay for multiple generations with the Hersam family, published weekly every Thursday. Now owned by Hearst Media.

I haven't read a printed copy for awhile. I used to get it the mail when I moved but stopped my subscription several years ago. They just changed the web site. Looks the same as THE HOUR and the STAMFORD ADVOCATE.

I'm old school as I like the printed version. Under the NEW CANAAN ADVERTISER banner was "Published in the Next Station to Heaven" in reference to New Canaan being the last stop on the Metro North New Canaan Branch out of Grand Central through Stamford.

Yes , With the technology this day in age one would find it incredibly difficult to pull off a murder , stash the body and evidence and get away with it .. And talk “disappearing “ would be equally if not more difficult . Something has got to give ..

They had their man right off the bat.
LE solved it. Now they need help proving it. Wonder if there are any women that were approached by FD for an affair before MT? Or anyone that heard his fantasy revenge plots other than JD.

One cannot forget the excitement he exuded when she went missing. The Ad Litem he spoke to in his excitement to say JD was missing, should have been more outspoken right then.
