I think the OP was asking how MT and FD met? Maybe a sporting competition? I know I read it somewhere - and I think the construction business was a bit of a ponzi- he did pay his FIL back when the spec houses sold in the beginning but then stopped - litigation on the defaults is pending and the link has been posted / I think this is a money driven crime with a little revenge against the beautiful talented and wealthy wife IMO

I thought I read somewhere that it was 14 years ago, but they were friends before they married. Maybe they met earlier, and then became closer friends 14 years ago? If he was married, did they meet or become closer friends when he was married?

Doesn't the original investor lose everything in a ponzi scheme? He is paid a percentage out of the next man's money, in this case it would have been sale of house where the majority of the money is put into the suspect's pocket and some invested in the next property.

I'm also assuming that the first claimant, in this case the estate, has dibbs over the banks or any other party that was brought into the mess.

I am always curious how much a good detailing removes in terms of evidence as we've seen in other cases that evidence is still found after detailing. My question is why they didn't set the truck on fire?
Considering the things these two did I think if they thought about cleaning the truck, they probably would have thought just a hose down would be sufficient.

I think the bigger question is why did they leave their phones on while they were dumping incredibly incriminating evidence?

If they set the truck on fire, that would only increase the scrutiny from law enforcement.

ETA: Actually, now that I think about it, I am surprised they didn’t set the truck on fire.

That would be the cherry on top of the proverbial “sundae of incompetence.”

The fact that there’s no such thing, notwithstanding.

Revenge against his wife and her wealthy parents. FD was going to have to provide full financials and I think they will show he was hiding assets. The murder had nothing to do with child custody.

Bc FD apparently read the same how to commit murder for dummies book as Patrick Frazee and they both apparently skipped the same very important chapter?

I agree. The children were just pawns to him.

Last thought and I'll speak to my friend who has gotten good info and will catch up tomorrow.. Avid waterskier.. A lot of money. He must own a boat or at least have access to one. Can drive a route past Candlewood Lake on way up to Hartford.. Am still thinking water for some reason..that is making finding Jennifer's body so difficult. .. Hopefully more evidence is found tomorrow.. I'm also going jogging in Waveny for first time since this happened...This is all so creepy.

My son had games at Waveny Sunday and it was very strange being there with all the LE and not knowing where JD is (still don’t).

We are local and I know people who knew JD. I saw her several times at kids sporting events, but personally don’t know her; when the Silver Alert went out, I thought do I know this lady (!?) but my children were not on teams with her children. She was just another sports Mom I’ve seen around. I have never seen the STBX-Husband.

Super Sad situation obviously ..

My son’s friend/teammate is/was in class with JD 8 year old. It’s a very small community of towns here. Everyone knows everyone or knows someone who knows someone.

JD could be anywhere there is a lot of water and a lot of woods around here ..

I got the impression that she was a mathematician, and he is in finance. They met many years ago - was it 14? longer?

I agree with the ponzi scheme financing of the properties that was suggested earlier. I'm guessing he mortgaged one to pay for the next, and did this with too many properties. He most likely paid himself first.

If he was married before, was it a marriage into money?
He was applied mathematics major undergraduate/Brown with a graduate degree in finance/Columbia.

That's interesting. How does customs work at private airports? Haven't really given that much thought.
Depends on the airport. Can be very relaxed. But still have to complete required paperwork and they usually make a general inspection of the passengers and your luggage. At least in my experience

I don't think this guy understood a Trust, in my opinion he thought he could have access through his kids.

Exactly, he killed her over her money. He wanted it, and the kids trust funds, and their inheritance upon JD death...

Tale as old as time ...

FD could have been a millionaire several times over in his own right, but he’s an argumentative, sociopath that couldn’t fly straight ..
And if he had been a decent man who stay married to his wife, he and Jennifer would have inherited Grandma's money.

It has been reported that a neighbor of FD has footage of him entering his drive the evening she disappeared (apparently after the Hartford trash bag run) and checking his mail. If that’s the case, they likely have footage of him going back and forth between his two homes earlier that afternoon that would support his cell phone activity. Or not...and perhaps someone else transported his cell phone back and forth. Food for thought...

What concerns me is they are trying to find where he took care of her body and doesn't seem they have been successful. I was thinking the woods on his properties on Mountain Spring Rd. Seems they would have found that out by now. I am assuming they found nothing in the vacant house?
Not that we are aware of.

We know he altered registration tags because he hid them in a storm drain in Hartford.

Did he use those altered plates on his Ford Raptor to travel to and from New Canaan? Possibly.

However, this is still very risky due to high-speed license plate readers on CT State Highway Patrol cars. moo

How could he avoid detection by the camera? By taking the backroads and avoiding the highway.

Google maps gives one option that avoids the highway and tolls. After passing over the Houstanic River, River Road is very secluded in areas and runs right along the river.

I hope LE is considering any and all routes he might’ve taken.

Yes, sorry I wasn't clear about the setting the truck on fire! I'm a bit tired so was unclear. I think the setting the truck on fire would have been the perfect way to end the ride of the Bonnie and Clyde of Farmington.

Yup. Such a shame.

So she was mathematics and economics?
