We don't know how the blood got in the garage. We don't know for sure about the dismemberment but let's say the blood is from that process only. They thought they could do that cleanly in her garage. Stuff the pieces in bags and drive away. Drop the bags in Hartford and they're done. Simple as that. Only, they didn't count on some of the blood splattering and being detected and, inexplicably, they didn't figure out that the cops could track his cell phone after the fact. At least, that's what I figured happened. Hope they will find out soon.
They also found several blood stains on the garage floor. I think FD (or both) attacked her in the garage. Dismembering her there doesn't make sense - apart from not being safe, it would require some preparation and tools, not to mention the cleanup.

you are correct - this is not the forum to debate the family court system - just documents as they pertain to this case is how I understand it as well.
Thank you!

61 Sturbridge Hill - property owned by Fore Group per their website
69 WElles Lane - JD rental home where blood was found
Note how close these properties are
4 Jefferson Crossing - Farmington home where FD and MT reside (until his arrest)
80 Mountain Spring - another property owned by Fore Group and location of 2 hour block of cell phone FD per the warrant

I can just imagine the two of them when faced with the mess in the garage. FD likely didn't want to clean and MT probably isn't much of a cleaner either - they might not even have known HOW to clean the mess.

Plus the idea of not expecting the blood to spatter while dismembering someone is hard to believe. While these two are great at defying logic, it just is extremely unlikely they would be thinking that way. JMO.

Perfect! I’m on the phone today so it’s a miracle I can even post text let alone maps!
Does the water on the maps flow into the quarry?

Google Maps
This is the pond that the Avon Skiers use, notice that the pond is secluded, bordered on one side with the backs of storage units and on the other by a strip of trees and the Farmington river. That river could be running higher than usual due to all the rain we have had. Anyway, the access road into this area is also secluded.

The phone was turned over and, then, it was seized by a detective. My guess is that they asked him to see it and he agreed because he was thinking they would just look at it. I agree that it is surprising that his attorney agreed to turning it over. I would assume if the attorney knew him well that the attorney would have refused to have his client come in at all. I am sure that his divorce attorney would have refused an interview knowing the issues that he has had previously with telling the truth and threatening her. I don't think it would have taken long to get a warrant for the phone though given the history. I would love to know how FD was notified that she was missing as well as his reaction.

I think they had a warrant, no?

Now I am beginning to think the house in New Canaan known as 61 Sturbridge Hill could have been their staging area. Her SUV could have been put inside that garage for clean up and the body moved to the truck or another vehicle - all inside the garage. I'm still thinking the SUV might be caught on carwash camera somewhere as it was found in the evening - plenty of time to take care of it or they could have washed it there. All of these properties seem to be surrounded by woods based on photos. IMO

Cannot wait!

Here are the locations.

EDIT: Don't know why it attached twice, but they're both the same map.
That's really helpful. Thanks!!

It would also explain why they didn't care that their phones were on after 1:30pm. Like someone else said, they were likely on in Hartford because they were waiting for a call about the kids, but if everything else had already been taken care of in the NC area, they would be less concerned about their location.

What are the chances more than blood was found in the garage? They sure came to the conclusion of homicide pretty quick IMO. They don't have to disclose that yet - could be saving it for the murder warrant ? Perhaps a strategy on LE part? IDK - it's just odd without a body that they decided fairly quick she was deceased IMO

They knew about her at some point; they were both detained and it seems to me that they could have asked her for her phone. Maybe it didn’t matter once they realised that she was with him. And that the pings for his phone would have been the same or similar to hers
LE doesn't need her phone to get the pings. They could go to the cell provider and get the data.

Avon Pond
Google Maps
It almost looks to me like it might be a man made pond to support the business. The Farmington River runs down one side of it and there doesn't appear to be a connection.
The business describes the entrance to be right beside the storage units at the top of the map. You can see a driveway if you look carefully.

I think it was the amount of blood. Enough to need hospitalization.

I think using the car wash would mean another possibility to be seen, so I doubt they did that. Maybe they avoided putting JD's body in her car altogether. If MT joined FD at JD's house after the attack and helped with the cleanup, they could have used their own vehicle to transport JD from there.

I think they took their phones to Hartford so he wouldn’t miss the “come get the kids, emergency call” he was expecting.

Makes sense!

I understood that we could reference court documents that pertain to this case but we were not to engage in critiques and criticisms of family court judges, advocates, attorneys etc. in general.

Me too, but there's a comma I missed so now I think we aren't supposed to discuss the legal system in general, as off topic. Let me see if I can edit.
