Is that the actual photo or a stock photo? If it's his pic why in the world would anyone post a photo like that on social media?
It's a stock photo. His picture with the key is in the "5 Fast Facts" article posted up-thread.

In highly contested custody cases where one spouse has international connections usually passports are held by one of the attorneys.
I agree but reading the court documents it was unclear that FD did in fact surrender all his passports as the documents refer to him surrendering his US passport but then the testimony from JD said that she believed he had a Greek passport and that she might have seen a Turkish passport. I cannot figure out if Family Court asked for all his passports to be surrendered or just the US passport.

Apologies, in advance, if this is noted in a FAQ section of this site.... as a newbie subscriber that is not blessed with the luxury of copious “free” time in which to peruse this very robust forum, is there a summary, herein or otherwise, in which one can catch up on “the latest updates” on this case? Am also interested in the seemingly expanding mystery of the “sudden” deaths in those Dominican resorts.... thanks!

Welcome!!!

This can be a good place I think:

Could it be that they know he is guilty? What happens when your lawyer knows for a fact based on something you said?
This is attorney for civil purposes. It’s highly unlikely FD discussed the criminal case (attorney wouldn’t allow IMO). I think due to current circumstances, they do not want to be associated with FD. Imagine the phone calls from press/public when they see attorney of record re ANY matter.

I was speaking about the kids' passports being in a safe in her house, and that's why he went there. I'm thinking that's probably not the case.

Here is a link regarding the DR sudden deaths. Dominican Republic: Three found dead in same resort with same cause of death I have been following this closely too as I have family members heading that way later this month :-(

BBM

Yes. From what I remember reading, she also had at least a Porsche and possibly a Land Rover in addition to the Suburban. Correct me if I'm wrong.
No, you are correct. Nanny had LR, JD had Suburban and Porsche was in garage.

I'm new here but have you guys ever seen a police department create a public website for one of their on-going investigations? I mean... I understand a tip-line and press conferences but a whole website, with organized sections, etc.?
Do you think this could be NCPD covering any PR tracks to make sure their role in the investigation was solid going into trial?

I haven't seen an entire website set up. Maybe someone else has.

I don't think it's to cover their tracks. But it's concerning. I wonder if it could be strategic in some way. Make FD feel nervous?

I don't know. But it certainly seems the deal fell through with MT, right?

I don't remember anyone saying anything about the amount of blood. Just that there was some on the garage flow and on the side of a car. If there was something from LE mentioning the quantity, please remind me.
They said there was blood on items in bags, and enough that cctv picked up “what looked like blood” on bags dumped. That seems like a lot of blood IMO.

He just adores the attention, good or bad. This just gives him narcissistic fuel. I'd ignore him.
We could honestly start another thread just on this particular atty IMO as his history is just that controversial.

For my money I have put him and his antics 'on mute' as its sadly inevitable that he and his entire team will turn this tragic case into a runaway train with the media that absent removing cameras from the courts, won't be stopped.

Why would she do that?
No clue. She has lived abroad. Some places require you to do so in order to obtain citizenship. I haven’t researched this, it was just a reason why she could be required to have a visa.

As far as we've been able to tell, he doesn't own any boats.
Yes, but.... Remember the other night when we were looking at the tax bills for FD that we saw a few items listed that people thought might be the construction trailers? Perhaps he did have a boat that he paid tax on and we just didn't have the tax ID key to figure it out? It would be surprising that he didn't have a motor boat if he liked the ski. The season is so short in CT and boat rental options are quite limited. Maybe he just paid by the hr to have someone drive their boat so he could ski? IDK as my knowledge about this sport is limited.

His new lawyer is really a piece of work. I contacted him because I was so upset and I just felt it wrong the he is using his energy and expertise to defend this man, yes put justice system depends on everyone getting a defense but he is making a choice, a morally bankrupt one in my opinion, and he seems to be such a sleazy publicity hound. I never used any vile language or said anything I would be ashamed to see air publicly, and he replied right away -- and was nasty and snide and told me to f off. I was shocked that he would even bother! WOW. Weird, imo. I am heartbroken about this mom who seems so kind and empathetic, falling prey to such a masterful abusive manipulator - perhaps I should have stayed mum but his responses made me think even less of him. Definitely not a classy guy, that is for sure.

I am really pretty sure you nor I are the demographic he is trying to impress. First we most likely respect others and the law. We will never have the need to pay for a top dollar atty due to shady dealings. Also in my case I would never be able to afford him. He wants the spoiled wealthy clients who need help buying their way out of trouble.

He just might be able to finally sell all of his properties ... with a bruised ego, but money is money...

but if the properties or a property is sold, shouldn't JD's mom somehow get some of that? or does she still have to prove FD got a loan from the family?

All she has to do is show that he paid some of the money (I think $10mil in total) back to prove that it wasn’t a gift.

Why would she do that?
Possibly taxes. Wonder if she got Argentinian passport from prior marriage or possibly kept Venezulan passport that was discussed in prior thread. I just don't think we know about her citizenship status. She could have been born in TN when her father was doing residency but parents never got her a passport as they moved back to Venezuela it looked like. I dont' know when they left Venezuela to go to Miami though. Does anyone have a timeline on MT returning to US as we know she went to college in Venezuela?

Those were definitely construction trailers. I can't remember the exact model number, but if you Googled the number listed, it was a specific towable truck/container. I want to say it was called a Nighthawk?

Good thought. Taxes are a huge reason. If US citizen, you are required to pay taxes on income, even if earned outside of the US.

Isn't the house still under construction? Would there be utilities connected? I'm not a construction expert.

I guess it would depend on how far along the construction is-I haven’t paid particular attention to that detail, if it has been referred to here.
