Exactly the same question that JD was asking repeatedly in court! Judge Heller or anyone at Family Court seemed to do nothing to try to figure any of this out so far as I can tell reading the documents.

I honestly think we've come up with more info here on WS than most of what I've seen in Family Court! Some of the documents were sealed but I think these related to children and doctors etc. rather than financial matters.
http://civilinquiry.jud.ct.gov/DocumentInquiry/DocumentInquiry.aspx?DocumentNo=13921173 FD borrowed $1.5Million for the purchase of 183 Hemlock Hill from HF.

Maybe he didn’t know; I wonder if it wasn’t the first day he waited for her to come back after dropping off the kids. He had traded his truck with the “employee’s” truck all week, I think I read. Could it be that Friday 5/24 was just the day he finally caught her there?
Did he know that his children were going to be taken to their grandmother's in NYC that day? Did he think she'd just hand them over to him after their mother and her daughter went missing? (I'm aware that he tried to see them a couple of days later.)

It is a good idea and many people adjust the seat out of habit - I like my seat close to the steering wheel and when others drive my car (same height) it is always too far back. He could have done it and I hope they have swabbed every inch of her SUV - we know how sloppy his clean up has been IMO

Another place I've seen LE check for fingerprints is the back of the rear view mirror as perps adjust it and forget to wipe it down.

Keep in mind we have heard ZERO about the state of her car. Was anything awry/missing? To me they are keeping this quiet for a reason. Were there traces of blood? Hair or fiber or DNA from other people? I sure hope so. The whole search of the landfill has left me cold.
Yes and a stock photo was used on the flyer. Her SUV could have sustained damage - we discussed this upthread. We just don't know a whole lot about this matter IMO. The arrest warrant and a few leaks.

But how did he move it? How much would a barrel full of cement weigh?
But remember barrels are round, could easily be rolled out of the bed of a pickup. On the ground, once you push and start the barrel rolling, and keep it rolling, it wouldn't be hard. But if he were smart, he'd back the pickup to the hole and push the barrel into it.

Let's say that FD buried JD in a pre-dug grave. Why didn't he put the bloodied clothing/supplies in there too? (He could potentially have gotten away with it.) Because he hoped that, if she was ever found, there would still be an option that she was abducted from the park? In that case she'd probably be closer to NC than Farmington, thought he would likely find it easier to dig around Farmington.

I think the conventional wisdom was that if he separated that stuff from her, it was supposed to deflect attention from him as a suspect. I don’t see how, though; he would always be the main focus of their attention.

  • #1,167
What is the most important single evidence that is missing so far, apart from finding JD's body, that would help convict FD of murder? Placing him in NC on the morning?

Opportunity.

He said their arrests were a way to get them to turn on each other? How about their arrests were because of an alleged crime that LE thought they committed. You are right-there is no reason to worry about them turning on each other (and that supposes that they both did something wrong, and not just one of them), if they didn’t do anything, and they have the ironclad alibis he claims they do.
Let's say they were both innocent and had separate alibis that they couldn't prove. Technically they could have started suspecting each other, but I don't think that's what happened here.

In regards to LE having more damning evidence — then why didn’t they use it for the bond hearing? They had a chance to get his bond raised or eliminated and keep him in jail. They should have used very strong evidence for that, but only used his DNA on kitchen faucet. That wasn’t enough for the judge. They had to have known it wouldn’t be. So, did they not want to reveal stronger evidence? Or is the DNA on the faucet the best they’ve got?

New Haven Register (@nhregister) on Twitter
There are still unknowns," he said. "It would be inappropriate to try and predict when that aspect of the investigation will be done. The Connecticut State Police Major Crimes detectives can not be too careful."

Foley declined to discuss what evidence may have been culled from the mounds of trash.
Which is different from what we heard yesterday.

This is encouraging, as it means that the search is not over.

At this point, it doesn't appear they have enough to bring murder charges forward and if they do they don't think it's strong enough for a conviction.

In my head, I can't imagine he didn't know. He saw the kids two days before; I would imagine one of them mentioned it.

I've wondered about this - if JD pulled her car into the garage and was blitz attacked when she got out - and if the Porsche was parked in the farthest away spot (3 stall garage) and it had spatter - that's quite a ways to travel which indicates to me alot of force. And the floor between the vehicles would have a lot as well. Now if the Porsche was next to her space and she pulled in - the Porsche would catch alot since it is in the way of the floor and the spatter would hit that first I would think? Wish we knew the position of that car and if her car ever made it into the garage. JMO
This is what I don’t understand... her Suburban couldn’t have blood spatter on it parked in the garage for LE to see as it was at the park when they searched, right? The nanny had the Range Rover. The Porsche was one and what’s the second one?

Work in progress

Working on the timeline:

When Jennifer served him with divorce papers on June 20, 2017, Fotis was ordered to “maintain existing” family medical coverage.

But by November of that year, Jennifer complained in a court filing that the family’s health insurance lapsed “due to defendant’s [Fotis’] failure to pay” and that she was “unable to take the children to certain medical appointments” — to which Fotis allegedly replied she should “pay out of pocket.”

Divorce litigaiton and custody:
In March 2018, the court denied FD access to the children, saying there was “an immediate and present risk of psychological harm to the children if they have unrestricted and unsupervised contact with the defendant, as well as a risk of physical danger.”
The court also said he had a history of lying under oath and had encouraged the children to lie on his behalf.
However, the court reversed its decision and found it in the children’s best interest to implement supervised parenting time.
After the court granted FD supervised visitation this February, he and JD could not reach an agreement on a schedule. In March, Judge Donna Heller granted FD supervised visitation every other weekend, starting March 30. He was allotted seven hours on Saturdays in Fairfield County and six hours on Sundays in Hartford County, which could take place at the Farmington house. FD was also granted three hours of visitation on Wednesdays in Fairfield County.

They want to keep their cards close to the vest for as long as possible. FD isn't going to do any more damage while he's out.

My thought was he buried it right in the ground. JMO

It's unfortunate that one of the ways they nail a perp who has murdered someone and disposed of the body is through his purchases to aid the process.....the tarp, gloves, shovel, lime, cement, bleach, plastic bags.....all things FD would already have on hand for the construction business.

We probably will have to miss the timed and dated Walmart video with the dummy using his credit card but wouldn't it be fun?!

Thats why I asked if the nanny had full privileges to the LR. Or if the nanny had to drop off her car and switch to the LR

That’s true about many surveillance camera images of being low quality.

What law enforcement has going for it here, is the camera system in place in Hartford.

These are going to be high quality videos, and have already paid dividends.

Law enforcement can lie to suspects, but that doesn’t work if they’ve already lawyered up.

FD won’t ever speak to law enforcement.

You could stay out of jail for a long time if you refuse to speak to LE, and they don’t have incontrovertible evidence against you. There are tons of cases here where that’s happened. NP must be thrilled that FD hasn’t talked to the police so far.
