Confirmation that the dogs being used on the ground in Farmington are cadaver dogs.

Jennifer Dulos disappearance: State police resume search of West Hartford reservoirs

Quotes from article:

WEST HARTFORD — A few hours after Fotis Dulos pleaded not guilty Thursday to a new charge in the disappearance of his wife, state police investigators descended on reservoirs near his Farmington home.

There was a heavy police presence at the MDC reservoirs off Farmington Avenue Thursday afternoon as officers and police dogs renewed their search of the area. According to WTNH, officials are using cadaver sniffing dogs — used to detect human remains — to search areas near the water.

The reservoirs are separated by about a half-mile of woods from the back of Fotis Dulos’ house at 4 Jefferson Crossing, and it has been a point of interest for investigators since Jennifer Dulos disappeared on May 24.
When contacted about the search in West Hartford, New Canaan Police Lt. Jason Ferraro said the gag order prevented him from commenting on the case.

“No information will be provided from this date forward regarding this case until the order is lifted or additional arrests are made,” he wrote in an email.
Let WS's know if any spot lights are setup tonight at Reservoirs!

I see the frustration with a PD that spends most of their time hiding behind bushes to give out speeding tickets and sleuthing out underage drinking at HS parties.
On the other hand, what has been absolutely invaluable in this case, IMO, is the very quick speed with which LE, beginning from the very first minute of the missing report being called into NCPD, has acted. If JD lived in another municipality where there were higher rates of crime (yes, many very nice upscale places that people like JD live happen to be contained within and thus served by municipalities and PD that include urban high crime areas as well) then the response might not have been as fast and taken as high priority. This is a very complicated case with some very bad, intentionally bad actors involved who put a lot of time into thinking about how to foil and mislead LE when they carried out their crime.
NCPD was able to prioritize this case, call the nanny to get permission to enter, find her car, ID the bloodstains, and call in the state crime scene processing unit incredibly quickly on a timescale that would not happen in a bigger place with a more taxing crime scene, lower paid officers, etc. Not only that, NCPD was able to interview and wrest the phone away from FD very quickly that weekend. They apparently did not flub up in getting a warrant to search it either.
I also want to point out that to his credit, far prior to this case, Chief Krowlikowski has spoken and written about DV as "New Canaan's violent crime" and I want to thank him for that if nothing else. I know he has his critics and I am not here by any means to champion NCPD unconditionally but this is the crux of why we are all here in this forum, because DV is such a serious and widespread problem and because even all the money and privilege in the world doesn't prevent these outcomes.

And seriously. This man just came back from murdering his wife. He still had bags of bloody items and likely a body to dump.

But they sat down to lunch.

Give me a break.
Seriously ... they should ask them both what was on the menu ?? I bet they both have amnesia.

Weird time to start a dive.
Goes with my theory that if they are there after dark ... they are definitely onto something

Great post, Chicago54. I have pages of posts before I'm caught up but I have one question:

You weren't also taken aback by Ruminations calling MT "pretty"?

Could anyone state that in "good faith"?
I missed what you're referring to, but I will say I'm disgusted by how much people shame MT for her looks. IMO, she's not unattractive, but that has NOTHING to do with the case. It shouldn't even be a topic of discussion.

While most things NP has said so far have been lies, early on NP did say that there wasn't video of FD leaving 4JC that morning (or video of FD entering Welles from front). Big grain of salt of course.

But since we don't have anything in the warrants showing FD that morning before the webcam at Fairfield, is it possible that either 1)FD spent that night somewhere else, maybe with KM?, or maybe at 80MS? and left from there in the morning? The first sighting we know if is in Fairfield so that could put FD anywhere on the map as a starting point.

Alternatively, and much less likely, 2)MT (or KM?) drove him out of 4JC to 80MS or wherever the red truck was parked, and FD was hiding in the back of the vehicle so as not to be seen on video? I think this less likely because if they were trying to avoid FD being caught on camera leaving, how would they explain that other vehicle leaving on camera so early in the morning (as you say around 5:15/5:30am). Unless this is the "early morning meeting with lawyer" that NP originally alluded to.

or, 3) FD snuck out the back door and through the woods at 4JC somehow to avoid camera detection. While this seems like it would be a classic plan, it was way early and FD had a long road ahead of him that day, so not sure this would be his preferred choice in planning it out. That would mean running and/or biking twice through the woods that day before he meets up with JD to get her at around 8am. FD didn't look as fit as I expected him to on the Dateline running segment, so I am hedging on this.

MOO.

Do they have any video of him coming back? Doesn’t that mean he left 4JX?

Weird time to start a dive.

Agree. Lets hope this means they found some disturbance or the dogs hit near the water to organize a dive team this late in day. Odd in a good way lets hope.

Weird time to start a dive.
Just looked at radar and its hot and humid/quite muggy and very overcast and dark in that area.

Sunset in Hartford tonight is at 7:06PM.

Rain has been reported in other parts of the State but not in the area around Farmington according to the radar I'm looking at now.

If anyone is local and can update that would be helpful.

I think what she is mixed up in and her refusal to quickly cooperate makes her ugly. If any of us saw her out and about, not knowing who she is and what she has done, she probably wouldn't raise an eyebrow, neither pretty nor ugly, just non -descript, unremarkable really. Personality and/or character can greatly influence one's perception of another's looks. Alot of women have had the heartbreak of another woman injecting themselves into a marriage. Not exactly a recipe for goodwill. IMO.

Excellent post, sleuth66! I can't remember a case where LE was on top of things so quickly.

The NCPD's sensitivity to DV made them set aside the waiting period for a missing person case so enough of that Hartford evidence was saved. Hats off to them!

Hopefully, police departments across the country will learn from this case.
