@cathyrusson
Remember this paper towel roll shown by the state with a pinkish color? Nanny testified the holder was empty the morning Jennifer went missing and she put a new roll on. That would have been long before police were there, so nanny was the last person and only person to presumably touch that roll? No testimony that the pink is blood...at this point.

Yes, the nanny touched it but as many of us concluded yesterday, FD had already handled it. Not at the counter, in the pantry.

Now we're in the thick of it.

Mixtures of blood....

100 billion times....

Listening intently

Two person mixture, blood stain on the floor....

The scientific language is such a mouthful because the expert can't ever reference Jennifer, only the profile of the contributor on the electric toothbrush...

Is the stipulation document public yet as I cannot find it?

An old thought struck me:

The canine that tracked.... is it possible that FD or an accomplice cut through Waveny with that last bag of trash that eventually leaked onto the Tacoma seat? Would a dog alert to that?

That transfer would have had to happen away from the flow of traffic -- have always wondered how he got himself from the Suburban to the Tacoma with the things he later dumpstered.

Perhaps a dog sniffed that path in part.

Isn't it more likely JFD's phone? Wasn't that not recovered? Or, am I misremembering? (IIRC, another phone - one belonging to one of the children, was recovered in JFD's vehicle.)

JFD's phone was deactivated after arrival at Lapham Rd and there is around 30-40 minutes of time unaccounted for in the timeframe between JFD's Suburban leaving her home (seen on surveillance at 10:25 am) and the Toyota Tacoma leaving Lapham Rd to head back to Farmington (it passed the New Canaan rest area on Merrick Pkwy at 11:12).

It takes around 3 minutes to travel from 69 Welles Ln to Lapham Rd and about 3 minutes to travel from Lapham Rd to that rest area and it must have taken at least a few minutes to transfer items from JFD's Suburban to the Tacoma.

So, perhaps the unaccounted for time was in part used to run JFD's destroyed phone back into the woods where it was thrown into a bramble or a small pond or something similarly difficult to enter/search.

(I personally believe JFD's body was transferred to FD's own Chevy Suburban in New Canaan at a "location mid-trip to Lapham Rd" and that FD then departed in that vehicle for a location where he intended disposal, with KM driving JFD's Suburban from that "mid-trip location" the rest of the way to Lapham Rd, and then KM driving the Toyota Tacoma back to Farmington. So, if the phone was discarded as I theorized, it was KM doing it.)

Expert is going through exhibit by exhibit. Most, what we guessed. Technical language aside, generally matched to Jennifer.

I hope that the State has an effective visual for the jury. It's hard to follow because it's so wordy and repetitive, the results are consistent, high probability, single source....

Three contributors ....

Mostly I'm hearing that FD and MT are eliminated as contributors...

[But we wouldn't expect it to! MT likely wasn't there and FD likely wore gloves!]

Photos of "biological material"... :(

Tedious but necessary testimony.

Sleep-inducing. I need a translator.

ETA: I recognize the State has to get this evidence in and that JAS has required that the detailed scientific hypotheses and findings instead of ordinary language be used to do so. But this presentation, even with the shorthand of "is this consistent with the previous results" is ridiculous. Jurors themselves will likely seek or assume some kind of shorthand to consider these pieces of evidence.

I think we get the gist of this testimony: Jennifer's DNA is all over the garage and Land Rover and rear of Suburban. PG and MT are eliminated as they were not there. FD wore gloves and did not leave any DNA.

Can her name be said in court, or must it be "she who will not be named?"

If there is a hell and it is a consequence of choices while living, JAS will be wearing heavy ankle, wrist, and waist weights to navigate it.

Personal opinion -- all these bloodlike and biological stains are matched to odds in the billions to JFd (or her toothbrush, at any rate) and, where it appears there might be a second contributor, FD and MT (and the strong of others) are eliminated.

I think the State is just getting out ahead of this so there's no thunder for the Defense.

No one expects MT's blood to be there. Not FD's. No reason to believe he was bleeding, every reason to believe he was wearing gloves, thereby reducing DNA transfer.

Because we all know how much JS would like to sing and dance that FD's DNA wasn't all over that garage floor. IMO he took measures to ensure it wouldn't be!

It's good to remind myself we have 4+ more weeks IIRC.

Lots of testimony and dot connecting ahead!

Dreading cross.
MOO
I hope JS spends two whole forever on cross. Every stain. Everywhere where there's a mixture of two, FD is eliminated as a contributor ...

And I hope that, not because I hate my ears and my time equally, but because I relish the one question on redirect that'll shut it down

Would a person wearing gloves....

If the defense is going to attempt to include PG as "reasonable doubt" this DNA testimony pretty much shuts that down

Back live -- the judge opens that they've been providing air conditioning to the jury room!

Ha! Chilly. Promises to remedy it....

Back to blood profiles --

Found it! Thanks again! That look and the quick palm up half pointing with disgust seemed as if LA was saying that the defendant is not worthy of her gaze or acknowledgement. Which she is not. Imo LA seemed repulsed, as we all are, by the mere sight of MT

One of my favorite moments during LA's excellent testimony yesterday is when she was asked by the D attorney if she shaved FD hair on his pitiful [my own descriptive term inserted] head. Without hesitation, and with an incredulous tone, she quickly replied a resounding: No! As if to imply, how dare you even consider I'd do such a thing. If the evil defendant was hoping to imply an affair between the two parties, her attempt fail flat.

I had waiting for the defendant to insinuate she was having an affair with FD...
Glad she responded like she did.

I'm behind on the thread, but two questions:
  • Did I mishear or was there a bloody fingerprint on the faucet that was 100 billion times more likely than not to be a mixture of JFD's and FT's DNA?
  • Did we ever get a sample of KM's DNA?
