MOO never dreamed that could proceed so quickly and so smoothly.

Judge rocks.

I truly don’t see how there is a way forward if this juror spoke with other jurors. Think mistrial might be only way to start from scratch. Too much taint possibly now imo to think justice is possible. I hope the juror is charged and taken to jail now!
I don't agree. In my own experience on a couple of juries, many jurors take their responsibility to remain impartial until all the evidence is heard and deliberations begin very seriously. These few who do not comply with the rules or consider the seriousness of their role in choosing how they will behave are outliers.

JS is opening with questions about the WeatherTek from JFd's Suburban. Correction: FD's vehicle

The State objects. State believes the report doesn't relate to the vehicle. Corrrection: that vehicle info hadn't been entered into court yet

Sustained.

You could be right but it just takes a seed of doubt now in a solid juror perhaps to create an outcome that doesn’t represent true justice 10 weeks from now imo. Risk of keeping this group imo is too high to insure justice.

Press is running on the gone girl theory again and social media is on fire with the topic.

Impose a gag and sequester the jury imo or call it a day.

We're listening to another objection.

We're talking about a document, exhibit 19, that the Defense has raised.

State disagrees. Wasn't referenced the day prior.

The State shows something to the Defense and JS tells the judge he is just going to move on.

As I recall from the Arrest Affidavit, there were swabs taken from "bloodlike stains" on the WT liners from FD's 2015 Chevy Suburban. The State appears to be contending that JAS is asking this witness about that evidence, which has not yet been brought in as evidence by the State.

ONLY stains from the cargo liner and cargo area in JFD's 2017 Suburban have been brought in so far.

Wrong suburban JS!

Now JS is asking the expert about assorted places in and around JFd's house as eliminated for MT.

The expert says yes, or insufficient or inconclusive.

Appears that some jurors are not too bright.
In one way it's good when they get booted, though the ramifications on a trial can be disastrous.
One doesn't need to be a juror to know that you do not talk to anyone about the case, in court and out side of court...zilch..mum..zip.
Judges are constantly reminding jurors not to speak with anyone about the case.

Do's and Don'ts.

JS really thought he had something there with DNA on the liner. Oops

Judge is schooling JS on how to present a hypothetical.

Judge is schooling JS again.

JS is IMO trying to set the stage for FD's DNA landing in JFd's kitchen because of food he handled, a la a cake box.

What? Now he's talking about a chocolate Easter bunny.

Good grief, JS just wait to hear the testimony and then cross examine, no need for all these stoopid hypotheticals.

IIRC, FD brought chocolate easter bunnies with him when he arrived at JFD's home for the Wednesday, May 22 visitation, and one of the kids shared their treat with him as he waited for the visit supervisor to arrive.

So, it appears this may be where JS is going - that sharing a chocolate easter bunny with FD resulted in his DNA going inside the house.

P.S. I am not positive it was the May 22 visitation. Could have been that or an earlier Wednesday visitation that FD brought the treats.

ETA: Nope. It was that visitation. And it was FD who offered JFD a piece, rather than the kids sharing with FD.

I'm either not impressed with this judge or with the way courts are run in CT. In other states, so much of this would have been worked out pretrial. Plus these "hypotheticals" where supposed evidence is snuck in would never be allowed.

Expert is describing all the factors that can affect DNA transfer.

JS did elicit a "it could" from the expert for transfer DNA that it could be preserved inside a house more so than outside.

JS just linked JFd and the contributor of toothbrush.

Redirect from the State.

Technical question from the State.

Re-cross

JS is asking 1. if there was confirmatory testing and 2. if she would testify to a screening test as positive for blood.

She says she would not. The screening test isn't to determine whether it's human blood but whether it should be passed along for further testing.
