I believe sister is single and has career as an attorney in NYC.
That would be quite an undertaking to adopt 5 young children.
True, not easy for anyone. I am single and would do it for a family member.

I would think the retainer demand from any good criminal atty. would be substantial given the dynamics of this case IMO. STBX was in court recently asking JD to pay for his atty fees. I think he is in trouble on the legal front unless he comes up with some cash fast.

I’m not a criminal attorney, but know several from law school and for referrals. One is very high profile (ie, one of Michael Jackson’s attorney). For non-violent felonies, retainer for a quality defense spans from $50k to $150k in my area (southern US). Legal fees vary depending on the market in the locality. Given CT’s proximity to NYC, I would think $100k retainer minimum considering the crime that FD is charged with tampering with is murder/abduction. Retainer may be higher if there are doubts as to solvency/ability to pay/collection. Just thought I’d chime in on fees. I’m very curious to see who they hire to represent them. I’d be SHOCKED if they haven’t already hired attorneys.

GF's business. Anyone know if those are those Jennifer's children in the photos?

Seal Shoe Covers

I can't imagine JD allowing her children to be photographed for her husband's sidepiece's business

And what a weird product. Ain't no one got time for that stuff. Any kid with those on is gonna get laughed out of school 'round here

Yeah. I have a hard time see her managing a multi-million dollar real estate / development company with that background.

If this is the talent FD employed as manager of his business, it's not difficult to see why his 3 business partners left
Actually the 3 former partners in Fore Group each had valuable
experience in the construction/building and development and marketing business. It was Dulos himself who was the weak link.
He formed the group of people who could help him build the business using his father in laws finances, then when each of the partners left, he became sole owner. One former employee did
stay w/ him for 12 yrs. and just left in 2018, he was project mgr.
and oversaw the bulk of the construction work.
I think FD had an ability to use people for as long as he needed them then discard them when they were either no longer useful
or wanted a more equal position.
Sort of the same way he used his wife.

This comment is interesting as I couldn't figure out how he chose Farmington/Hartford when the bulk of the big money real estate is much further south.
I’ve thought the same thing!

If someone has that much money to spend on a house, IMO, they’d rather live in towns in Lower Fairfield County & closer to NYC, like Greenwich, Westport, , etc.

Unless you’re Meryl Streep...
who lives in the gorgeous small town of Litchfield.

Or Katherine Hepburn who lived on the coast, but more East & Center Of CT.

And speaking of New Canaan, I wonder if Edie Brickell & Paul Simon sold their New Canaan home, that was recently for sale.
:)

MOO

The estranged husband of a missing Connecticut woman and his girlfriend have been arrested on charges of evidence tampering and hindering prosecution, authorities said Sunday.

Fotis Dulos, 51, and Michelle Troconis, 44, were taken into custody in Avon, Connecticut, about 11 p.m. on Saturday in relation to the disappearance of Jennifer Dulos.

They were charged with tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and hindering prosecution.

Jennifer Dulos, 50, was last seen on May 24, after dropping her kids off at school. New Canaan police responded to a report of a missing person later that night. Her vehicle was found the day she disappeared. She moved to New Canaan with her children in 2017, about 70 miles from where where she lived with Fotis Dulos in Farmington.

Where did you see mistress name associated with this business? I just found the name of the company founder, founder Daniela King?

Thanks. My thoughts also after I posted about going to the hotel after posting bail.

While they were at the Jefferson Ave house and before LE escorted them to the PD for questioning, FD went inside, changed clothes and threw an overnite bag into the back seat of his car (w/ Maryland plates).

When MT arrived with her daughter and the nanny, she went inside to get a bag for her daughter and then nanny & daughter left the property in another car (prolly MT’s car.)

They were probably all told they could not come back to the house because of the warrant and search by LE.

Now I think that after the questioning (separately I hope), FD and MT were allowed to leave the PD and then drove to the Marriott (car w/ MD plates seen there) and checked in.

After comparing notes after questioning FD and MT, LE later that night went to the Marriott and arrested them.

I’m still trying to figure out:
Were they taken to Avon PD in Litchfield County after the arrest?

Why was FD taken to Bridgeport Jail?

Why was MT taken to New Canaan jail? Evidence at the NC house? Was her DNA found there?

MOO

The separate jails can be as simple as where there was room for a female inmate. Happens often in my area. MOO

I was thinking the same thing...it appears to me (by looking at Zillow), the only properties in Farmington listed over $1 million were his. Is this an area that can support multi-million dollar homes? I would think the Greenwich area would be where he wanted to be...

I think your estimates are in the ballpark but given this persons history with payment and his seeming lack of liquidity my guess is that anyone taking on his case would ask for virtually any asset that was free and clear including any unencumbered real estate. The thing is though that the cost to defend a murder charge is substantial and certainly beyond $100,000 IMO so if he doesn't have cash and assets to pledge I'm not sure who would take this case on as just doing it to be paid by the state isn't the pay structure most good criminal atty's are satisfied with IMO. Will be curious to see how this plays out and certainly who depends the mistress.

I'd asked earlier if the grandmothers legal team had entered the fray and filed any motions with the court regarding using any real estate that is part of her litigation with STBX? My guess is that we might see a flurry of legal filings in the am when the courts open.

I agree with you. I haven't been able to figure out the reason he
was in Farmington. Even Jennifer didn't understand why, according to her statements in the divorce docs. He did some
bldg. in the SW Ct. area, but the bulk of his business was in Hrtfd. Co.

Why did you think LE had anything to do with FB page? Most pages are done by friends and family in my experience.

It was all over her Facebook. Not sure if her Facebook is still up or not..

  • Connecticut police are searching a second $2.8million home of Fotis Dulos, 51, after he and his girlfriend Michelle Troconis, 44, were arrested on Saturday related to the disappearance of Jennifer Farber Dulos, 50
  • Fotis is the estranged husband of Jennifer of New Canaan, Connecticut, the mother of his five children
  • Fotis has been charged with hindering prosecution and tampering with evidence, and Troconis has been booked on similar charges
  • Some 20 state police units including at least six K9 units began searching a second Farmington property owned by Fotis's company, The Fore Group, on Sunday morning
  • The search seemed to be focused on the back of the 80 Mountain Spring property, next to a wooded area
  • Authorities obtained a search warrant for the Jefferson Crossing home of Fotis in Farmington on Friday
  • Authorities also obtained DNA and hair samples from Fotis and Troconis on Friday evening
  • Jennifer was last seen leaving her children at day care on May 24, four days before Fotis sought sole custody
  • After they were questioned, Fotis and Troconis were taken to a police station where they gave DNA samples
  • Anyone who had contact with Jennifer Dulos on Friday May 24th, 2019 or has information regarding her disappearance should call the New Canaan Police Tip Line at 203-594-3544

Police arrest estranged husband of missing mother of five in Connecticut and his girlfriend | Daily Mail Online

BBM

IIRC, the children were attending the New Canaan Country School.

(Used to be called New Canaan Country Day, to distinguish from boarding schools.)

YMMV

Seems the guy was dumb. Everyone knows you buy the worst house in the best neighborhood. No matter, it was Jen's money...imo

My guess is that he chose Farmington as it was alot less expensive to buy land in sizeable lots there vs Greenwich/lower Fairfield County. The cost to build and develop in lower Fairfield County is so much more expensive as the land cost is higher vs Hartford County. To answer your question about those houses and their market in Hartford I have to say that his houses are certainly higher end for that market. Hartford area has industry, insurance companies and healthcare, and govt. Not sure how many individuals in any given year in these industries would be in the market for a $2-4MM house. MOO. Maybe folks from Hartford could chime in and help.

New Canaan avg house price I believe is in the range of $1.2MM or so, Wilton $800-900M, Darien $1MM and Greenwich has areas where the avg price is over $2MM+. Will look for current stats when I get to a computer.

After featuring his son previously, STBX featured gf daughter in his 2018 Valley ad.

True about the money. But so far I have counted 5 CT judges that have been involved with this case and by all accounts at least until recently did very little to assist JD in her case. I have not yet counted all the professionals and court appointed individuals associated with this case but I will do this and post later. I think at a certain point when a system is as broken as is it in CT that the press has to intervene and 'start naming names' and discussing individual judges in the context of their decisions in court. Where is the accountability in the judiciary?

I have followed all of your posts and they are so informative, especially about the legal system. One hears about this all the time with people of lesser means. Women trying desperately to get out a dangerous marriage with no funds and nowhere to go.
But in following your comments and others it seems this clearly happening in CT. Very disheartening.
