It was all over her Facebook. Not sure if her Facebook is still up or not..
FB is gone for mistress. She took it down the other day. Hopefully somebody took screenshots for future reference.

I think your estimates are in the ballpark but given this persons history with payment and his seeming lack of liquidity my guess is that anyone taking on his case would ask for virtually any asset that was free and clear including any unencumbered real estate. The thing is though that the cost to defend a murder charge is substantial and certainly beyond $100,000 IMO so if he doesn't have cash and assets to pledge I'm not sure who would take this case on as just doing it to be paid by the state isn't the pay structure most good criminal atty's are satisfied with IMO. Will be curious to see how this plays out and certainly who depends the mistress.

I'd asked earlier if the grandmothers legal team had entered the fray and filed any motions with the court regarding using any real estate that is part of her litigation with STBX? My guess is that we might see a flurry of legal filings in the am when the courts open.

You are correct in that the $100k would be only for defense of these specific charges, not murder.

Even if he doesn’t have cash, he has assets. Assets can be sold and depending on the ethical rules in CT, he may be able to give his attorneys liens on the properties as payment/security. My only point being, people do what they have to do to hire great counsel when their freedom/life is on the line. There is also the element of publicity so an up and coming attorney may take the case for less than he/she normally would for the free publicity (having the firm/attorney name in the press).

It’s not important tbh. I’m just curious as always about the legal representation here.

Why did you think LE had anything to do with FB page? Most pages are done by friends and family in my experience.

No, just that whoever put it up realized it was not a disappearance but something else.

Its curious as it was disclosed yesterday that both of his parents are buried in Hartford County. So, at some point they must have come to live in the US.
Yes, his father Petros died in 2004 and is buried in Canton Ct. and
his mother, Kleopatra, passed in 2012,

My guess is that the father planned to collect the children before authorities knew that Jennifer was missing and head for Argentina using Greek passports. I'm sure he realized that he would be the prime suspect, but he might have anticipated a window of time where he could flee with the children.

Jennifer and the nanny must have had a system where, if something didn't happen, the nanny took the children to the grandmother and notified friends so they could report her missing.

I wonder if there were plane tickets already purchased?

That is what I expect as well. Also "He threatened me if I didn't help him" which may or may not be true. JMO

She didn’t have to stick around though...she could have left with her kid and gone back to Argentina

My guess is that he chose Farmington as it was alot less expensive to buy land in sizeable lots there vs Greenwich/lower Fairfield County. The cost to build and develop in lower Fairfield County is so much more expensive as the land cost is higher vs Hartford County. To answer your question about those houses and their market in Hartford I have to say that his houses are certainly higher end for that market. Hartford area has industry, insurance companies and healthcare, and govt. Not sure how many individuals in any given year in these industries would be in the market for a $2-4MM house. MOO. Maybe folks from Hartford could chime in and help.

New Canaan avg house price I believe is in the range of $1.2MM or so, Wilton $800-900M, Darien $1MM and Greenwich has areas where the avg price is over $2MM+. Will look for current stats when I get to a computer.

I grew up in the next town - Burlington. Farmington is the old money wealthy “suburb” of Hartford. Big dollar homes are hidden amongst the leafy hills in the Farmington river valley. MOO

Thank you. I appreciate your answer, as you are local. I am in the midwest and can't begin to fathom the cost of real estate on the east coast.

Where did you see mistress name associated with this business? I just found the name of the company founder, founder Daniela King?
GF is featured in the ads on website.

Yes, two other co-founders named on the website..... MOO

I definitely don't see that happening. MOO

I’ve been surprised in the past when members of a family of a person convicted of killing the other parent, got custody of the children. I REALLY hope those children are completely done with anyone in the Dulos family. I am just concerned about the way the justice system seems to work sometimes.

Not if she didn't have any money of her own or if it was a spur of the moment thing like "help me clean up". Or she could have been in on it. He is known to threaten violence. No idea if it would be true or not but it is a common 'defense' used by side pieces in similar cases. JMO.

I have followed all of your posts and they are so informative, especially about the legal system. One hears about this all the time with people of lesser means. Women trying desperately to get out a dangerous marriage with no funds and nowhere to go.
But in following your comments and others it seems this clearly happening in CT. Very disheartening.
Thanks! Sad but true in CT and many other states as well.

The other issue that keeps being brought up here and other cases is use of Silver Alert in missing cases for adults. I wish LE had other options to broadcast alerts for non minor young adults and adults of sound mind and body (Amber Alert is very specific tool for LE). While we don't know exactly in the JD case how the use of Silver Alert was justified by LE, the reality is that the use of the Silver Alert helped raise awareness of the case early and quickly which is so impt in missing cases in my experience. In other states the Silver Alert sadly would not have been used is my guess. I will be following this case to see if an explanation for the use of the Silver Alert is ever provided and if its not I will follow up with NCPD and see if they will respond after the furor of this case dies down and report back at some point with any info.

The sad reality in most states is that broadcasting about the missing case becomes the responsibility of grieving family and friends and LE is not there in most cases to assist unless they have a particularly helpful press officer or missing officer designated in the department. Its heartbreaking to meet parents of missing teens in particular who learn the hard way the most LE departments aren't set up to assist with the process of broadcasting about missing cases. WS has some great resources on this site to help people whose loved ones go missing and there are non profits that work with the families of missing people. But the first 2 days after a missing event are so crucial to the outcome of the case usually and unfortunately this is the period that families who are unfamiliar with the process are scrambling and floundering to figure out what to do. Sadly the families of missing people are preyed upon by unscrupulous people seeking money to help their cases and its hard for families to know who to trust.

For my money and until some other system is in place for missing cases, I'd prefer to have people annoyed about getting a Silver Alert on their phone than the alternative of no broadcast message about a missing person.

Seems the guy was dumb. Everyone knows you buy the worst house in the best neighborhood. No matter, it was Jen's money...imo

Yes, that thought kept occuring to me, too. Like I said in a snarky way, that Farmington House at 80 Mountain Spring Road looks nice from the outside, but the inside looks almost formulaic popular home-remodel show stuff from the photos I've seen. It's like remodeling it removed whatever charm and history there was there. Maybe that's why it doesn't seem like anyone's interested at $4.3 million.

I’ve thought the same thing!

If someone has that much money to spend on a house, IMO, they’d rather live in towns in Lower Fairfield County & closer to NYC, like Greenwich, Westport, , etc.

Unless you’re Meryl Streep...
who lives in the gorgeous small town of Litchfield.

Or Katherine Hepburn who lived on the coast, but more East & Center Of CT.

And speaking of New Canaan, I wonder if Edie Brickell & Paul Simon sold their New Canaan home, that was recently for sale.
:)

MOO
This cracks me up. Farmington Valley is far from podunk, but it's all relative , isn't it?
Spent many memorable years on the youth hockey circuit and got a taste of all of it!
MOO.

I believe sister is single and has career as an attorney in NYC.
That would be quite an undertaking to adopt 5 young children.

This is why I said some member of his family, if there is any here, could end up with the kids. I don’t even want to think of this happening. Hopefully she made provisions in her will for this eventuality.

Its curious that its gone. While all the searching sadly seems to lead to the conclusion that they are searching for a body, the reality is that she could be alive and have been hidden. We will just have to wait, pray and see.
