VERNON, CT (WFSB) - Police in Vernon are looking for a man who left to walk his dog only to have the dog return home without him.
According to police, Nashawn Harvey, 43, was reported missing on Sunday.
He was last seen walking in the area of Phoenix Street and Maple Avenue around 7:45 p.m.
Police believe him to be endangered.
They described him as being about 5'10" tall, bald and having a brown goatee.
He was wearing a red hoodie, black Dickies pants, black sneakers and a black knit hat.
Harvey's neighbors say something isn't right because they said Harvey trained his dog and was always with it, and they know he wouldn't just leave the dog.
Harvey's dog, a pitbull named Calhoun, went into a neighbor's yard around 8 p.m. on Friday.
"I brought the dog back up to the neighbor's house to let her know that Calhoun was loose and wondering why. I found out Nashawn was walking him and nowhere to be found. He disappeared into thin air," said Kyle Delisle.
Delisle said Harvey visits his girlfriend at a home on Phoenix Street, which is right near Tankerhoosen Lake.
"She's baffled and doesn't understand what is going on. He has no friends in the area, no nothing, so we don't know and he doesn't have a cell phone, so he couldn't call anyone to pick him up or anything," said Delisle.
Police said they are hoping someone in the area has surveillance video.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Vernon police at 860-872-9126.
