A Silver Alert has been issued for Rosemarie Dean, known as Aunt Ro to people in the community.

Town police and fire officials, along with CT K9 search and rescue, started searching for Dean early Sunday morning.

Her family said she was a new resident at Greystone Retirement Home and had only been there for approximately four hours before she wandered off, police said.

This breaks my heart. My grandfather really needs to be in a nursing home, but he's fighting us tooth and nail on going. I can't imagine finally getting him to the "safety" of a nursing home only to have him be allowed to wander off. Elder care in this country is decades behind where it should be.

Oh that's so sad. RIP Aunt Ro.

This article was updated to say that "Officials say she was found in the Connecticut River in Middletown". Of course I don't know her route, and if she went in the river elsewhere and ended up in the river down there, but it looks like Middletown is only about a 45 min+ walk from the Greystone Retirement Home:
